The F-Class Healer Omega is a Villain [BL] -
Chapter 37: Let me leave
Chapter 37: Let me leave
They agreed on a time when the call ended because Yoon Seoyul had to leave for the gate. That night, Cheon Areum couldn’t sleep well. The feverish sensation gnawed at his skin, making it almost impossible to rest. He got up multiple times to drink cold water, only to fall asleep for another ten minutes. This continued the whole night, until he finally gave up and stayed in bed reading on his phone. In the end, he became too lazy to get more water—which resulted in him waking up with a headache.
"....."
Cheon Areum glared at the hot cup of coffee sitting on the table. He wanted to break it. Just thinking about drinking anything hot made him want to jump off the building. His nape was already on fire under the patch that he’d had to change again before coming to the office. As soon as Joon saw him, he ordered a hot coffee for him—knowing full well that he was in heat.
"Can I just slide this off the table?"
"No."
The reply came almost simultaneously. Yoon Seoyul’s eyes never left the report in his hand—the one Cheon Areum had written. Every hunter had to write their own report after clearing a dungeon, to confirm that nothing out of the ordinary had happened inside the gate. It was also a way for the government to spy on hunters under the facade of keeping them safe. Since Cheon Areum was a registered hunter of a higher rank, he also had to write a report of his own. No one gave a shit about low-rankers. They could be playing murder mystery in the dungeon and no one would question it. No one would even know, since the only report the government received would be from the high-ranked leader—glorifying the mission as miraculous and award-worthy.
"Do you want something else to drink?"
"No, don’t get me anything."
Cheon Areum waved his only available hand in front of him. He wasn’t planning to stay long anyway.
Yoon Seoyul, having reread the report, finally decided to set it down. Last night, as soon as he entered the gate, he had been healed—since he was needed the most. There wasn’t even a single scratch on his squeaky clean-cut face now.
"Tell Shin Jia to come up to the office."
Yoon Seoyul spoke to Joon, who was out of the office but listening in on them as always from the couch opposite. Cheon Areum was sitting on the same couch he’d been stuck in when he first visited. He patted the couch longingly. Their time together had been too short. There weren’t any chances he’d be able to sit here again and look at the sky through the floor-to-ceiling windows leisurely. Yoon Seoyul had been giving him the cold shoulder—only saying what needed to be said. It didn’t matter anymore, though. After his resignation from the guild, maybe Yoon Seoyul would pity him a little and stay in touch.
"Next time don’t try to do everything by yourself."
"Hmm..."
After three consecutive knocks, Joon entered the office with Shin Jia—his saving grace. Cheon Areum turned to her and blinked repeatedly, making sure his injured arm stood out. Shin Jia smiled gently and sat beside him.
"I was wondering how you’ve been doing... Is it just your arm?"
Cheon Areum nodded. Shin Jia cautiously placed her hand on the cast. He felt a soothing tingle in his numb arm, and slowly the aches and pains packed their bags and left his body. Shin Jia, fully focused, lifted her hand only after realizing she couldn’t heal him any more than this.
He was completely healed—with a hitch. As a B-Class healer, Shin Jia was pretty good. She really was the perfect person to be a healer.
"This is a thanks."
As if noticing the movement of his lips, Shin Jia beat him to it and spoke first. Cheon Areum, who was about to thank her, was forced to shut up.
"I consider you my lifesaver. I didn’t take the money that was being offered either. I just wanted to return the favor."
An angel. There was no other way he could describe the person in front of him—shining brilliantly.
"I’ll see you later then?"
Shin Jia asked before leaving the office with Joon.
"Yeah."
He also hoped to see her again. Cheon Areum moved his left arm carefully, afraid it would hurt again, and only slightly tested it. It worked just fine.
"Okay... I’m resigning."
"What?"
A flabbergasted response came from the other side. Yoon Seoyul narrowed his eyes, seemingly frowning.
"Do I have to submit a resignation letter too? Can’t you just do it without one? Or write it yourself—I don’t really care."
"No. What are you talking about right now?"
"I’m talking about leaving the guild."
Cheon Areum stretched his body as he separated from the couch. Yoon Seoyul didn’t say anything. Thinking he had nothing more to add, Cheon Areum turned to leave. This had been easier than he thought.
"What’s the reason?"
Before he could turn his head away, Yoon Seoyul muttered emotionlessly.
"You still want a reason? After what happened, do you think anyone will trust me enough to be my teammate?"
"Then do you plan to enter the gates alone? Or are you just giving up being a hunter altogether?"
"Yes, actually. I can clear the gates alone. I see the others as obstacles getting in my way. I can only do it alone now."
Cheon Areum responded in a low voice. Yoon Seoyul stared at him with a strange chill in his eyes—one Areum hadn’t seen before. It made him freeze and rethink if he had said something wrong.
"So you can go ahead and kill yourself?"
"What..."
Cheon Areum furrowed his brows. The question was as unpredictable as Yoon Seoyul’s thoughts. It came out of nowhere. Is that what he’s been thinking all this time?
"I wasn’t planning to die. I only wanted to survive and get out of the gate with zero casualties."
"Then why did you keep throwing yourself in danger? I’ve been in worse situations. If you thought you were the only one who could clear the gate, you’re very wrong. If you had listened and gone to wait at the gate, there was a chance of Kim Ryung not overheating and the others attacking again without the pheromones disturbing them. Most of all—I was there too. What you did... no one asked you to do it."
"What do you want me to do? Apologize for reacting recklessly? Line them up. I’ll get on my knees and beg them to forgive me if that helps."
"That’s not what I’m talking about!"
Yoon Seoyul raised his voice, snapping at him. Cheon Areum clenched his hands. He didn’t want to talk to him anymore. The body temperature that had been steady after being healed was beginning to rise again. He felt dizzy for a second as he stepped forward to leave.
In that moment, Yoon Seoyul gripped his wrist, pulling him down abruptly. Cheon Areum hit the couch, making his head spin.
"If you think the others will be afraid of you and not want to work with you, we can go together. Both of us can clear the gates."
"Let me go. I don’t want to continue this conversation with you."
He twisted his hand, trying to free it, but the firm grip only tightened on his wrist.
"If you have another reason for wanting to leave the guild, tell me."
Cheon Areum turned his head in the other direction. He didn’t want to see him.
"Yoon Seoyul, don’t make me use my abilities on you."
"If you don’t tell me the real reason why you want to resign, I’m not letting you go."
"If you think you’re strong enough to go inside a dungeon alone—you’re wrong. You’re not strong."
Cheon Areum gritted his teeth. He had been holding his breath, trying to stay composed, but he couldn’t take it anymore. All because of this fucking heat....
"Fine! I’m not! I am weak... Who said anything about being strong enough to do this alone?!"
Shouting with a water-filled vision, he looked at Yoon Seoyul—who only glanced down at him coldly and held his wrist painfully close. They both stared at each other for a second before Yoon Seoyul spoke again, not dropping the topic.
"If it’s because of your heat. If you can’t take care of your heat. I’ll take care of it."
"Why... Why are you going this far for me? Or do you offer this to everyone? You don’t want to lose an S+ Class? How will you even ’take care’ of it?"
Cheon Areum argued, looking him straight in the eyes. He held the wrist at his chest level, wanting to break the clasp.
"Physical intimacy. Even without a mark, if you have intercourse with an alpha, your heat will be suppressed in just a day. You won’t have to deal with it for a week."
