Chapter 1322 - Chapter 1322 Chapter 1421 Heading to the Array Eye
Chapter 1322: Chapter 1421: Heading to the Array Eye Chapter 1322: Chapter 1421: Heading to the Array Eye Fang Lin watched the successive scenes emerge on the white chess piece, but just as the cloaked woman was about to reach the mountain stream, Yin Wuyan waved his right hand, taking back the white chess piece before Fang Lin could easily see the most critical moment.
Fang Lin’s eyebrows knotted tightly, his heart already believing a good part of the story, yet some suspicion remained. Could it be a trap set by Yin Wuyan and the cloaked woman?
“Now do you believe? If you do, we can leave together from this Second Array and go to the other formations,” said Yin Wuyan.
Fang Lin did not speak for a long moment, weighing whether to trust Yin Wuyan or not.
Seeing that Fang Lin did not respond, Yin Wuyan smiled slightly, then added, “Are you still worried that this is a stratagem set by the cloaked woman and myself? Even if she wanted to conspire with me, she would not tell me the location of the Array Eye. As a guardian, she is not allowed to divulge the secrets of this place to outsiders. You must have dealt with her before and must have pressed her for the Array Eye’s location–did she tell you?”
Upon hearing this, Fang Lin considered the logic. He had indeed pressed the cloaked woman before, but she had never disclosed the location of the Array Eye.
Since the woman, as a guardian, could not reveal the location of the Array Eye to strangers, then it was impossible for her to have told Yin Wuyan and set a trap with him.
After all, Yin Wuyan, like himself, was an outsider to the cloaked woman and this Second Array.
“Where is the Array Eye?” Fang Lin asked.
Upon hearing Fang Lin’s question, Yin Wuyan knew that Fang Lin had probably started to believe him, even if not completely; at least his suspicions had lessened since the beginning.
“The Array Eye is within a mountain stream, but there are many mountain streams in this Second Array. Without knowing the precise location, unless you traverse the entire Second Array, it will be difficult to find,” Yin Wuyan replied.
Fang Lin waved his hand, stowing away the four Ancient Lamps of Flame God into his Beast Bag, yet he did not conceal his Kylin battle armor, still armed with the Mysterious Sea Dragon Spear, his vigilance unwavering.
“Lead me there,” Fang Lin said in a cold voice.
Yin Wuyan smiled and said, “Naturally, I will take the opportunity to leave this place and venture elsewhere.”
With that, Yin Wuyan led the way, and Fang Lin followed, making their way toward the mountain stream where the Array Eye was located.
…
The cloaked woman was in pursuit of the middle-aged man who had entered the Second Array not long ago; the man was extremely sly, having slipped away several times.
However, as the guardian of this place, the cloaked woman knew every intruder’s movements clearly, and no matter where the middle-aged man fled, he was within her grasp.
But then, the cloaked woman’s expression suddenly changed.
“Why would these two people come together?” she muttered silently, a bad feeling arising within her.
She could feel that Fang Lin and Yin Wuyan were in the same place, and they were moving rapidly.
“Not good!” Once she discerned the direction in which the two were heading, she knew something was amiss–the Array Eye might be exposed.
Without hesitation, the cloaked woman abandoned her pursuit of the middle-aged man and immediately rushed toward the location of the Array Eye.
As the guardian, the Array Eye could absolutely not be compromised.
For the Array Eye was not only the entrance and exit to the other formations but also the greatest vulnerability of this Second Array.
If the Array Eye were forcibly destroyed, the Second Array would collapse completely, and the cloaked woman’s life was tied to the Second Array; if the formation collapsed, she would die instantaneously, with no chance of escaping disaster.
Before Fang Lin and Yin Wuyan arrived, the woman in the black robe had already made it to the mountain stream. Under her command, all Demon Beasts within thousands of miles had converged here.
At last, what was inevitable had come.
Fang Lin and Yin Wuyan arrived one after the other at the outskirts of the mountain stream. In front of them was a dense blockade of Demon Beasts, including dozens of Demon Kings and two Six-Transformation Giant Demon Kings.
Fang Lin looked at Yin Wuyan, who remained composed, showing no change in expression.
“She knew we were coming, which is why she’s so prepared,” Yin Wuyan said.
Fang Lin didn’t say much. Since they had already arrived, they naturally needed to explore the area thoroughly. If there was an Array Eye, they would use the opportunity to escape; if not, they would fight their way out and plan accordingly.
“To show sincerity, I’ll take action first,” declared Yin Wuyan, ready to strike at the Demon Beasts.
Fang Lin stopped her and slapped his Beast Bag, pulling out the golden-haired puppy.
“Wow! This puppy is so pretty,” exclaimed Yin Wuyan upon seeing the golden-haired puppy Fang Lin had pulled out. Her eyes went wide, completely captivated by the puppy.
It was only now that Fang Lin realized that Yin Wuyan, after all, was still a girl with natural girlish instincts.
The golden-haired puppy was squinty-eyed and burrowed into Fang Lin’s chest, then glanced over at Yin Wuyan standing to the side.
Yin Wuyan’s face was full of indulgence, extremely fond of the golden-haired puppy, and couldn’t help but reach out to pet it.
“May I pet this little fellow?” Yin Wuyan asked cautiously, looking almost like she was pleading.
Fang Lin remained expressionless, completely ignoring Yin Wuyan.
But the golden-haired puppy seemed quite curious about Yin Wuyan, barking at her twice.
Yin Wuyan wore an expression that said she wanted to pet the puppy but didn’t dare, which made Fang Lin glance at her with a sideways look.
“Serious matters are afoot,” Fang Lin gently patted the golden-haired puppy’s head. The puppy seemed to understand and perked up, barking loudly at the group of Demon Beasts not far away.
After barking several times, an invisible majesty spread, sending the Demon Beasts into a frenzy. The lower-ranked Demon Beasts fled in terror, and even with the black-robed woman’s continuous goading, it was to no avail; they simply did not listen to her.
Only the two Giant Demon Kings and the Demon Kings fared slightly better but were also trembling on the ground, too scared to move.
Yin Wuyan was shocked at this scene, her face bearing an expression as if she had seen a ghost.
“What is the origin of this puppy? Even the Six-Transformation Giant Demon Kings fear it?” Yin Wuyan looked at the terrified Demon Beasts in the distance, then turned to look at the golden-haired puppy cradled in Fang Lin’s arms, her mind reeling in shock.
The golden-haired puppy seemed a bit annoyed that there were still some Demon Beasts that hadn’t run away, jumping out of Fang Lin’s arms and letting out several more resounding barks.
The dozens of Demon Kings immediately couldn’t bear it and fled in panic like the other Demon Beasts, leaving only the two most powerful Giant Demon Kings, who had not been scared away.
But judging by the appearance of the two Giant Demon Kings, they were likely just barely holding on, staying in place out of sheer fear of the golden-haired puppy.
The woman in the black robe revealed herself, standing atop one of the Giant Demon Kings, her eyes coldly fixed on Fang Lin and Yin Wuyan.
