Chapter 1320 - Chapter 1320 Chapter 1419 Taking the Initiative
Chapter 1320: Chapter 1419: Taking the Initiative Chapter 1320: Chapter 1419: Taking the Initiative The man was clad in a black robe, appearing to be in his mid-forties with an utterly ordinary face that bore no remarkable features.
Stepping out from between the mountain streams, the middle-aged man’s eyes immediately fell upon a pile of bones on the ground, still draped with scraps of flesh, the bloodstains not yet dry.
Upon seeing this, the man’s complexion abruptly changed, and he became instantly alert.
“This place doesn’t seem peaceful at all,” the middle-aged man muttered to himself, scrutinizing the skeletal remains on the ground.
He was shocked by his observation, for the skeleton had been cleaved from the skull down, the body split cleanly into two halves.
Moreover, the remains of the flesh on the body suggested the person had likely been torn apart by insectoid Demon Beasts after death; otherwise, it wouldn’t have ended up in such a state.
The more he saw, the more frightened the middle-aged man felt, sensing the place was unsafe. He immediately headed toward the distance.
A woman in a black robe emerged from the shadows, her eyes coldly following the departing figure, her visage growing increasingly somber.
“Another one, but it’s fine. He’s courting death by coming here all by himself; he can’t blame me,” the woman in the black robe said, commanding a flying Demon Beast to closely follow the middle-aged man.
The woman in the black robe did not realize that all her actions were being watched clearly by the eyes on a white chess piece. The piece seemed to be non-existent, floating there, but the woman was completely unaware of its presence.
Elsewhere, Yin Wuyan had one eye closed and the other open, the closed one emitting a faint white glow.
Her severed arm had, astonishingly, fully recovered, showing no sign it had ever been damaged.
You see, Yin Wuyan’s arm had not been sliced off; rather, a segment had been blasted apart, the flesh and bone shattered.
Such an injury could indeed be quickly healed by a Spirit Source Martial Artist by consuming some of their Spirit Source.
But Yin Wuyan was not a Spirit Source Martial Artist; she was merely at the pinnacle of the Ninth Layer of Spirit Bone, half a step away from reaching the Spirit Source.
Without a Spirit Source within her body, she couldn’t rely on her own power for limb regeneration. Yet her arm had healed, indicating she must possess some potent Pills or a natural treasure capable of rapid recovery.
Regardless, Yin Wuyan’s arm had healed.
Whoosh~~
The sound of something cutting through the air was heard as a white chess piece flew towards her. Yin Wuyan caught it in her hand and at once, her closed eye gently opened.
Yin Wuyan’s eye showed signs of fatigue, but her face bore a hint of excitement.
“I found the Array Eye!” Yin Wuyan murmured to herself, pocketing the white chess piece and immediately began pondering how to leave the Second Array.
The chess piece that had been monitoring the woman in the black robe was indeed Yin Wuyan’s. Utilizing a secret skill of the Scholars’ sect, Yin Wuyan watched every move of the woman in the black robe and had noticed the middle-aged man walking out from the mountain stream, quickly realizing that the stream might just be the location of the Second Array’s Array Eye.
Yin Wuyan was eager to escape the Second Array, for she had already faced life-threatening dangers twice within it–both times because of Fang Lin. She knew that staying would only bring more trouble, so she wanted to leave quickly and try her luck elsewhere.
Yin Wuyan was aware of the existence of the guardian. She and the elder in red robes had managed to find Fang Lin only because the woman in the black robe had disclosed his whereabouts to them.
But what was clearer to Yin Wuyan was that the reason the woman in the black robe had revealed Fang Lin’s location to her and the elder in red was to use them to eliminate Fang Lin.
As it happened, Yin Wuyan and the elder in red also wished to get rid of Fang Lin, so they struck a quick agreement to cooperate with the woman in the black robe.
Yet, Yin Wuyan and the elder in red had failed, having not managed to finish off Fang Lin and were injured instead, with now Yin Wuyan being completely unaware whether the elder was dead or alive.
And since the woman in the black robe served as the guardian whose duty was to eliminate all who entered the Second Array, her previous cooperation with Yin Wuyan and the elder did not change her own intention to also eliminate them.
Only by leaving the place to regroup with the others from the three sects would her situation improve, preventing her from having to fight a lone, difficult battle.
Yin Wuyan glanced at her now fully restored arm, her pretty face pale and her heart pounding. It was the first time she had ever been so grievously injured.
Fortunately, she carried with her miraculous elixirs; even her severed limb could rapidly regenerate and heal. However, having lost a part of her body, Yin Wuyan’s strength was significantly affected and would require some time to fully recover.
In Yin Wuyan’s view, Fang Lin’s injuries should be more severe than hers, necessitating a longer healing time.
To Yin Wuyan, this was an opportunity to take down Fang Lin.
But she did not entertain this thought; even though Fang Lin was seriously injured at the moment, Yin Wuyan was not confident she could finish him off.
Having been at a disadvantage in her previous two encounters with Fang Lin, Yin Wuyan believed she had developed a fear of him. Until she was certain of victory and understood Fang Lin better, she decided not to engage in conflict with him.
Regrettably, affairs often turn out peculiarly. Just as Yin Wuyan resolved to stop searching for troubles with Fang Lin, it was actually he who sought her out.
To be precise, it wasn’t Fang Lin who actively approached her; rather Yin Wuyan had been under Fang Lin’s watchful eye all along.
While Yin Wuyan surveilled the woman in the black robe, Fang Lin, during their previous encounters, had left his mark on her. Fang Lin was fully aware of her whereabouts.

Five days later, Fang Lin ceased his healing and his eyes sprang open, a trace of iciness within them.
“Although the injuries are not fully recovered, now is the best chance to kill Yin Wuyan,” Fang Lin said.
“If necessary, I will intervene,” said the Old Dried Corpse, also agreeing that Fang Lin could make a move.
Fang Lin stood up, swallowed a Pill, and his aura, contained and vanished, headed straight for Yin Wuyan’s location.
After several hours, Fang Lin found Yin Wuyan who was meditating and didn’t detect his approach.
It wasn’t until Fang Lin came within five yards of Yin Wuyan that she suddenly awoke, her eyes widening as she looked toward Fang Lin.
“Your reaction is too slow,” Fang Lin said indifferently.
Yin Wuyan was shocked, not expecting Fang Lin to show up uninvited. What was he planning? A preemptive strike? But he should still be suffering from severe injuries that hadn’t healed. Moreover, how did he find her?
Despite her astonishment, Yin Wuyan quickly calmed herself and said, “How did you find me?”
Fang Lin smirked with a mocking expression, “The way you found me is exactly how I found you.”
