The Extreme Alchemist of the Mighty Cauldron -
Chapter 1293 - Chapter 1293 Chapter 1392 The Shadow
Chapter 1293: Chapter 1392: The Shadow Chapter 1293: Chapter 1392: The Shadow Zhou Meng and the two elite warriors from the Pill Alliance were all wounded, especially the two elders, who had sustained very severe injuries and no longer had the strength to fight again.
Although Zhou Meng was slightly better off, that was not saying much. In the face of that bizarre dark shadow, he felt fear from the depths of his heart.
Nevertheless, Zhou Meng had not given in to despair, for he still had several trump cards up his sleeve, particularly the most powerful one bestowed upon him by the Western Moon King. It was meant to be used to suppress the Demon Puppet in Fang Lin’s possession whenever necessary, but that opportunity had never arisen.
Now, in the face of such a critical situation, Zhou Meng was contemplating whether or not to use these trump cards.
“He-he.” That dark shadow let out a sinister, chilling laugh, grating like two pieces of dry bark rubbing against each other, utterly unpleasant to the ear.
Zhou Meng’s complexion turned awful, and, with no more hesitation in his heart, he resolved to use his trump cards to get rid of this fearsome enemy before him.
Plop, plop!!!
But before Zhou Meng could react, the heads of the two Pill Alliance elders behind him dropped to the ground. It wasn’t until their heads fell that the two elders realized they were already dead.
Zhou Meng turned around and looked, immediately breaking out in a cold sweat, so frightened that he turned ashen, and he slapped his Nine Palace Bag at his waist.
“Trying to desperately resist?” That eerie voice resounded in Zhou Meng’s ears, and suddenly he realized that he couldn’t feel his right hand.
Upon looking down, he saw that his right hand was cleanly severed at the elbow; the lower half of his arm lay on the ground as blood spurted out profusely.
And Zhou Meng’s Nine Palace Bag had already fallen into the hands of that dark shadow.
Seeing this, Zhou Meng knew he was finished. Not only had the opponent taken his Nine Palace Bag, but he had also lost a hand and was seriously injured. He was no match for the dark shadow in strength, and even less so now.
“Who exactly are you?” Zhou Meng covered his severed arm, his face as pale as death, as he spoke.
“Since you are about to die anyway, I might as well tell you. I belong to Hidden Kill Hall,” said the dark shadow offhandedly, his tone filled with contempt and mockery.
Upon hearing this, Zhou Meng’s pupils suddenly contracted, revealing a look of utter despair.
“To think that I, Zhou Meng, would die here today, and even at the hands of someone from Hidden Kill Hall.” Zhou Meng inwardly cursed, full of resentment and unwillingness.
The dark shadow was about to make a move to kill Zhou Meng when suddenly he stopped, his figure shifted in a blur, and he picked up Zhou Meng in his hand.
“Don’t worry, I just came to have a look. If you want to kill him, just kill him. Don’t mind me.” Just then, Fang Lin could be seen standing at a distance, waving his hands at the dark shadow in a gesture that suggested he was just passing by.
Zhou Meng, upon seeing Fang Lin appear, was first taken aback, then overjoyed, thinking himself saved because Fang Lin had the Dragon Family Demon which could resolve the present crisis.
But what came out of Fang Lin’s mouth almost had Zhou Meng die from sheer anger right then and there.
What was that supposed to mean? You’re just here to look? Is there such a person as you? We’re both from the Pill Alliance; do you mean to stand by and watch me get killed without lifting a finger to help?
Believe it or not, Fang Lin did indeed harbor such intentions.
Previously, Fang Lin had been unaware of the events unfolding here from a hundred miles away; it was the Old Dried Corpse who had sensed it and suggested Fang Lin have a look.
Upon checking, Fang Lin saw that Zhou Meng was about to be killed by the dark shadow. However, Fang Lin had no intention of rescuing him and was quite pleased at the prospect of seeing the old guy taken down.
It wasn’t for nothing–Zhou Meng’s indiscriminate killing in Qian Country had made Fang Lin extremely resentful towards him, and the old fellow had never been very obedient to Fang Lin’s commands, always trying to outwit him. Fang Lin had long been looking for an opportunity to get rid of him.
Someone was out to take care of Zhou Meng, and Fang Lin certainly wasn’t going to stop them. In fact, he was rather pleased to see this unfold.
“Fang Lin! How dare you not save me! The Heaven King will surely punish you severely!” Zhou Meng bellowed in rage, already facing impending death, he no longer cared about anything else.
Fang Lin curled his lip: “What does your death have to do with me?”
Zhou Meng was immediately at a loss for words–oh, how he hated that! His eyes almost popped out of their sockets, and he cursed Fang Lin in his heart.
“I recognize you. Your name is on the must-kill list of the Hidden Kill Hall,” a shadowy figure revealed a pair of glinting green eyes and spoke to Fang Lin.
Fang Lin looked over at the eerie figure, which really was just like a shadow with only a pair of eyes visible, while the rest of its form seemed ephemeral and indistinct.
“What the hell are you? Why does Hidden Kill Hall recruit such inhuman, ghostly things?” Fang Lin said.
Upon hearing this, the shadow let out a sinister laugh: “Since you’ve come to me on your own, I might as well take care of you now and then get on with my business.”
Fang Lin curled his lip again: “I’d advise you not to target me, otherwise, you might end up dead.”
The shadow laughed heartily, tossed Zhou Meng aside, and in a whoosh, had already appeared behind Fang Lin.
A flash of silver light, and the shadow’s dagger streaked towards Fang Lin’s throat, so swift it was almost unimaginable.
The dagger came too fast; Fang Lin barely had any time to react and was about to fall victim to this person.
Bang!
But then, a large hand appeared, grabbing the shadow’s dagger and snatching it away.
This hand didn’t belong to Fang Lin but to the Demon Puppet Dragon Long Jiankong, who intervened in the critical moment, at Fang Lin’s command.
Long Jiankong grabbed the dagger, and with a squeeze, he crushed it to pieces. Seeing this, the shadow realized the might of the Demon Puppet and had no intention to continue fighting, turning around and fleeing immediately.
The shadow was as swift in attack as it was in escape. Fang Lin hadn’t even gotten a good look before the shadow vanished without a trace.
The Demon Puppet stood behind Fang Lin and did not pursue; without Fang Lin’s orders, it would not act on its own.
Internally, Fang Lin was on high alert. The shadow was clearly a master of the Spirit Source realm, and with its elusive form, he wondered if it was even human.
“Kid, if you’d encountered that guy alone, you probably would’ve lost your life,” Old Dried Corpse taunted.
Fang Lin didn’t take it to heart. The strength of that person was indeed above his own. If he hadn’t had the Demon Puppet or Old Dried Corpse and had faced his foe alone, it truly would’ve been a life-and-death situation.
At that moment, Fang Lin turned to look at Zhou Meng, only to find that Zhou Meng had disappeared without a trace as well, even taking his severed arm with him.
“This old guy, he sure can run fast,” Fang Lin remarked.
By now, Zhou Meng, clutching his severed arm, had already escaped some distance and felt incredibly fortunate to have survived.
“You’ll pay for this, Fang Lin, for leaving me to die. If that’s the case, I’ll tell everything to the Western Moon King once I get out, and let the Western Moon King punish you for your crimes!” Zhou Meng thought to himself, his face full of dark and bitter resentment.
