Chapter 1288 - Chapter 1288 Chapter 1387 The First Person

Chapter 1288: Chapter 1387: The First Person Chapter 1288: Chapter 1387: The First Person Hidden Kill Hall’s most formidable four assassins, among them Wind Monarch and Lord Lei, had already overwhelmed Fang Lin with Fire King’s prowess, at which point he had narrowly escaped death by Fire King’s hands.

A single Fire King was a significant threat to Qian Country, and should Wind Monarch and Lord Lei also arrive, Hidden Kill Hall must be planning a significant operation in Qian Country; otherwise, they would not deploy three such powerful experts simultaneously.

However, Gu Hanshan only shared this much and did not disclose what Hidden Kill Hall intended to do in Qian Country, which left Fang Lin quite uneasy.

Nevertheless, Fang Lin was not overly worried, as Purple Mist Sect housed an elder, Sword Head, whose presence he believed would prevent Hidden Kill Hall from any major undertakings. With Sword Head’s capabilities, he should be able to handle the four great assassins of Hidden Kill Hall.

“Right now, I should first figure out what’s going on in The Forest of Mist,” Fang Lin reasoned, then set off towards the forest.

After walking for a while, the air filled with rising white mist; visibility shrank to just ten steps away. Moisture permeated the air, and each breath felt refreshingly clear.

Fang Lin proceeded cautiously, his Heavenly Eye between his brows opening, allowing him to see clearly through the dense white mist ahead.

There was nothing out of the ordinary before him, and the mist seemed just regular mist. As Fang Lin walked, he also took the golden-furred puppy out of his Beast Bag, letting it perch on his shoulder as a precaution against any sudden Demon Beast attacks.

The golden-furred puppy remained its usual lazy self, appearing as if it could never get enough sleep. Even when taken out by Fang Lin, it merely slumped on his shoulder, yawning periodically.

Fang Lin was quite fond of this little creature, yet ever since it grew from a fluffy ball to its current puppy form, it had not changed much, keeping the same size, which puzzled Fang Lin deeply.

Even Old Dried Corpse, Jin Zhulong, could not figure out what this creature was, and it was something Fang Lin had never encountered in his past life, hence his ongoing curiosity.

Fortunately, the little creature proved somewhat useful. Wherever it went, Demon Beasts kept their distance as if it was naturally their bane.

Fang Lin once wondered if the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, that monkey who was also a Demon Beast, would fear the golden-furred puppy.

Of course, Fang Lin could only ponder this privately; he surely couldn’t just pull out the puppy and flaunt it in front of Great Sage Equal to Heaven.

After a long walk, the surroundings were still shrouded in mist, with dense, towering trees that blocked even sunlight from coming through.

With his Heavenly Eye activated, Fang Lin could see everything, but despite the long walk, he encountered neither Demon Beast nor human, just flora.

Fang Lin’s brow furrowed slightly, feeling somewhat uneasy.

“Kid, although your Heavenly Eye is mighty, you’ve still been deceived by the illusions before you,” the lazy voice of the Old Dried Corpse rang out.

Fang Lin immediately asked, “Have you noticed something?”

“Have you not figured it out? Despite all your walking, you’re still within this white mist, and all you see are scenes formed by the mist,” Old Dried Corpse explained.

Hearing this, Fang Lin’s eyes sharpened, and light flickered within his Heavenly Eye.

Indeed, everything around him began to twist, and soon Fang Lin felt a blur before his eyes, finding himself within layers of dense fog, unable to penetrate it even with his Heavenly Eye.

This took Fang Lin by surprise; his Heavenly Eye should be able to perceive all illusions, but if it could not see through these mists, they were no ordinary mists.

“Kid, this place isn’t simple. Even I can’t determine what lies in the deepest parts of this forest, and it makes me uneasy. If I weren’t worried about you dying here, I wouldn’t bother coming,” the Old Dried Corpse stated.

Fang Lin nodded. Those words from Old Dried Corpse were a reminder that this place was anything but simple, possibly concealing profound secrets but equally significant danger.

With no ability to see through the white mist, Fang Lin could only continue forward, cautiously now, pausing slightly with each step.

Suddenly, the mist around dissipated entirely and unexpectedly, leaving Fang Lin somewhat caught off guard.

Looking around, he found himself standing in a barren wasteland, the landscape a stretch of bare earth without a single tree or the earlier dense forest.

Reactivating his Heavenly Eye to see if this area was also an illusion, Fang Lin was astonished to find that this place was real.

So, after half a day’s walk into The Forest of Mist, Fang Lin had ended up in such a desolate area.

What was going on?

Fang Lin surveyed around, the barren land seemingly vast, and stretching his Heavenly Eye’s power, but he saw no end.

“What place is this?” Fang Lin retracted his Heavenly Eye, realizing he was at his limit; this barren land seemed boundless, with his Heavenly Eye reaching only as far as three thousand li.

“This is a Formation, but it seems to be only a trapping formation. You can find the exit to leave or forcefully break through the formation, though that carries a significant risk,” Old Dried Corpse elaborated.

Fang Lin asked, “Can you find the exit?”

Old Dried Corpse chuckled, “I can’t find it.”

Fang Lin was speechless, thinking, how could a Demon Saint not even find an exit–was that even believable?

“Kid, don’t assume I can do everything. Formations are not my forte. Being able to discern that this is a formation is pretty good already. Finding the exit still depends on you,” Old Dried Corpse said.

Fang Lin shrugged and did not say much else, beginning his search for the so-called exit.

Although forcing his way through the formation was an option, Fang Lin was reluctant to do so; if there were any traps, it could complicate matters further.

Walking on the barren land for a short while, Fang Lin suddenly stopped.

Not far ahead, a figure appeared–the first person he had encountered since entering The Forest of Mist.

“Eh? I feel like I’ve seen you somewhere before,” said a girl in a purple dress staring at Fang Lin. Her long hair cascaded down to her hips, and she wore two delicate small bells on her waist, gazing intently at Fang Lin with her beautiful eyes.

Seeing this girl also surprised Fang Lin; he had never expected to meet her here.
