The Evil Lord's Wife Has Spirit Blood -
Chapter 153
Chapter 153: 153
Remaining in the basement, Michelle took out a small pill bottle from her spatial ring, opened it, and let a single pill with the rich fragrance of herbs roll onto her palm. She had made the pill herself, so she wasn’t worried that it would harm her. With a flick of her wrist, she threw the pill into her mouth and it dissolved on her tongue, letting her swallow it in a liquid state.
"Blood Replenishment Pill?" Alexander raised a brow when he recognized the fragrance of the pill. As far as he knew, it wasn’t a pill whose formula was known to people in the middle realm or anywhere lower. So that meant Michelle either knew the formula from her past life, she came up with it, or her father, Philip Grace, had brought it with him when he came from the upper realm to the Land of Exile.
"No!" Michelle shook her head calmly as she sat down on the ground.
That clearly surprised Alexander. He could be considered an expert in Pill Mastery because his master, who had adopted him as both a child and a disciple when he was just an orphan, was one of the best Pill Masters in the heavenly realm, so Alexander was sure that he wasn’t mistaken when he smelled Michelle’s pill. "What pill is it then?" he asked. He suddenly really wanted to see into Michelle’s head to understand her thoughts.
Michelle glanced at Alexander and just casually threw the small pill bottle at him. She didn’t even care whether he caught the bottle and got lost in her thoughts again.
Alexander caught the bottle and opened the cap, letting the herbal scent of medicine waft out, flooding his senses. Just the smell of the medicine could clear his mind and make him feel revitalized, which made him widen his eyes, moving his gaze towards Michelle. His resolve to get the young girl to his side just solidified. She was too great of a genius to let go.
In the Land of Exile, where cultivators could never reach Spirit rank in cultivation, Pill Masters were divided only by levels: Pill Master Pupil, Junior Apprentice, Senior Apprentice, Young Master, Master, Grand Master, Old Master, Young Lord, Lord, Grand Lord, Old Lord, Overlord, Monarch, King, Emperor, God, and God of Gods. But in the lower realm and higher, Pill Masters were also graded by the rank they reached in cultivation.
The grades in Pill Mastery were the same as the ranks in cultivation and brought about some restrictions.
Pills made by a Pill Master of Spirit grade, no matter their level, could only have full effect on cultivators in Spirit rank and below. To those in early Divine rank, they would already be nearly non-effective.
By that logic, Michelle’s pill should in no way have affected Alexander since he was far above her in power. If converted to the ranks of Spirit Masters, his power would be equal to the rank and level of Spirit Master God Paragon.
But Michelle’s pill broke the laws. Just its scent was able to affect Alexander, making him wonder what would happen if Michelle’s ability got out.
The thought of that made him chuckle. "You really are a brat gifted in attracting trouble!" he suddenly exclaimed as he capped the bottle and threw it back at Michelle.
At first, she didn’t even notice because she was deep in thought, but before the bottle could hit her, she lifted her hand and grabbed it. "What do you mean?" she turned her head to lock her purple eyes on Alexander.
"It seems that every single one of your abilities would be able to cause turmoil all over the heavenly realm," Alexander said with a hearty laugh, stunning Michelle a bit.
He couldn’t imagine how infuriated some so-called prominent young talents would be if they found out that in the lowest of all lands was born a person whose single ability could nip them in the dust. Their arrogance would definitely suffer a heavy blow, maybe even making them doubt their very own existence.
And that would then most probably boil over into hate, making them despise Michelle.
But that wouldn’t happen anytime soon, as Michelle was still in the lower realm, keeping her abilities hidden so she wouldn’t attract unnecessary trouble for herself.
What Alexander had no chance of knowing was that the pills in the bottle were made as medicine using spirit energy and kill furnaces mixed with some organic liquids Michelle collected from monsters and beasts because they had similar effects to some medicine and poisons from her past life.
With that, she was able to create a simple iron supplement pill, but she modified it so it could also clear one’s mind and help them think faster.
A more extreme form of the pill was already considered a torture poison because it could make the victim’s brain and nervous system so sensitive and focused that a single featherlight touch would feel like a punch.
Michelle took the iron supplement pill because she felt lightheaded from giving her blood to the sealing book. She was aware that some kind of Blood Replenishment Pills existed, but she never had the chance to look at the formula, so she couldn’t make it for herself.
That was one thing she was planning to correct when she would return to the Archduchy. Though she had already left the Land of Exile, she had still left there the soulless bodies of the twelve thousand people whose souls were trapped in the twelve Soul Seeking Pendants, so she had to go there a few more times.
In one of these visits, it wouldn’t do her any harm to return to the Archduchy and go through her father’s library, the floor about Pill Mastery. Out of all the floors in the library, it was the emptiest, but the amount of books would still be enough to create a small building if stacked upon themselves.
After taking the pill, Michelle decided to rest. A mere iron supplement pill couldn’t make her recover her blood in an instant, so she just laid down on the damp floor and turned to her side. Though she felt like it would be better if she took care of everything as soon as possible, trying to forcefully speed up the process could just as well bring about more harm than profits.
"You’re going to sleep here?" Alexander asked when he saw Michelle lie down. He was clearly taken aback. "Isn’t the ground cold and wet?"
Michelle just closed her purple eyes lazily. "I’ve been in worse places..." she muttered carelessly. She wasn’t planning to sleep, but closing her eyes had two good effects. If she seemed like she was asleep, Alexander wouldn’t bother her. Also, when she closed her eyes, she was able to relax her mind better.
In some cases, it had the opposite effect because images of unresolved things would flash in her eyes, but that could help Michelle come up with solutions to some problems sometimes. But only sometimes. Still, it was a habit to close her eyes when she wanted to relax.
"You are a strange brat..." Alexander shook his head a bit, but he still sat down next to Michelle. Maybe a bit too close for her liking. Still, since he didn’t touch her or bother her, she was able to ignore him and rest.
While Michelle and Alexander were resting in the basement, a very strange situation was taking place in the city above them.
Since the moment Michelle had disappeared from the sight of the knights in front of the city gate, they were certain that she must have snuck into the city, so they alerted the patrol guards and even the City Lord. Soon, small groups of three and four knights started barging into inns, asking around for a silver-haired, purple-eyed suspicious young woman. But to no avail.
That was only until they came to the last inn Michelle had visited, where the receptionist had told her about the tavern. When the guards described Michelle to him, he truthfully told them that he had directed her to the tower tavern, making the guards turn pale.
The tavern was a place no sane person dared to enter. It was a well-known "den of debauchery, violence, and sin", and only strange individuals went there. No one knew who they really were, because none of them were originally from the city, but from the danger they exuded, the city residents quickly came to the conclusion that they were most probably dangerous criminals or something like that. Very quickly after the tavern appeared, people started gossiping that it was the headquarters of a mercenary group which took on the darkest of deals.
Perfectly knowing the fame of the tower tavern, the guards didn’t dare utter a word as they observed the tall building from a distance. The City Lord himself had asked them to bring the suspicious, silver-haired, purple-eyed girl to him, but no one dared to barge into the tavern to apprehend her.
So all they could do was send a messenger to the City Lord to inform him of the situation while the rest hid in the nearby houses, waiting for the moment Michelle would appear on her own outside the tavern.
The residents living near the tavern were used to the sound of partying and drinking throughout the whole night coming from the tavern, but otherwise, their lives were overall peaceful. With the reputation of the tavern’s guests, no one dared to mess around near it, so around the most feared building in the city was an area where children went to play and small families lived without having to worry about the children being kidnapped or their houses being robbed.
So when the knights barged into quite a few of the houses, the residents were shocked. The guards quickly informed them that they just wanted to observe through the windows the door of the tavern, but that didn’t reassure the people. No matter how safe the neighborhood of the tavern was, everyone was aware that it was still the neighborhood of the tavern.
