The Evil Lord's Wife Has Spirit Blood -
Chapter 100
Chapter 100: 100
With the surprised gazes of Anastasia, Kieran, and Ivona directed at her, Michelle let her words flow out of her mouth. "David, I don’t know whether you noticed or not, but your friend, Alexander, knows, so there’s no harm in telling you: my soul energy is basically void. It’s black and my soul leash is Binding Chains. You should know that it means that I’m sensitive to the presence of void anywhere, and you have quite a bit of it around you. But it’s only around you. The one who got the void onto you was Alexander. I’ve only met him three or four times, and all the times, he reeked of void. He has void inside of him and it’s plaguing him."
"You two came to the Land of Exile because everything is weaker here, so neither of you would die. Your life might not have been in danger, but still, the void that got onto you from Alexander could have crippled you, so you came with him down here. Here, in a place where void and any other power work weaker and slower, you are hoping to find a way to get rid of the void, but in the years you’ve been here, you couldn’t think of anything, and your subordinates in the other realms couldn’t think of anything either, or they would have brought it to you already."
"That’s also why Dark Lord still exists. You and Alexander probably started working together because of something big in the past. By then, Alexander already had the void in his body, but it was still small or dormant, so he was most probably aware of it, but didn’t think much about it. But when you worked together, and for some reason created the identity of Dark Lord, he ended up pushing himself beyond his limits. Then, the void saved him, but it also grew and hit you, affecting both of you terribly. So, when you two came down here, you created the identity of Dark Lord here too, while your subordinates used the identity of Dark Lord in the other realms to search for a cure for you."
Listening to Michelle’s monologue, David’s playful smile slowly twisted into a frown. It wasn’t that he wanted to hide the truth; he didn’t really care about that, but it annoyed him that Michelle’s guess was so accurate, even though her only clue was the presence of void around him and in Alexander Terce’s body. "What does all the have to do with the information you want from me?" he questioned.
Michelle smiled and lazily rested her head on the headrest behind her. "Sometimes I wonder how you can be the leader of an information guild with your brain..." she chuckled. "I said it before!" She flicked her hand and black chains appeared around her arm. "I have completely black soul energy. I have soul energy which is identical to void. To the void around you and in Alexander’s body."
Finally, David understood what she meant. "And you want to exchange that just for the information about the Ostrich family? That doesn’t sound like a good deal for you," he frowned.
"Of course not. I want you to take us to the black market and help us investigate more about the Ostrich family and their connections in the upper realm. Let’s say it’s a payment for your direct interference." Michelle said, with a smile, as she stood up. "Also, don’t think of it like I’m doing something big for you. For me, taking hold of the void around you is easy, and even beneficial, so using it as payment for you is a good deal for me. I’m not paying you by saving your life. I’m paying you by taking away the void, which can save your life along the way."
When her words fell, David nearly broke out into a fit of hysterical laughter, but in the end he just chuckled and pressed the back of his hand to his forehead as he leaned back against the couch, his eyes shining with cynical laughter. It was clear what he was thinking. In the end, something he had been struggling with for years was completely dismissed by a fifteen-year-old girl with power equal to that of an ant in front of him. If he were just a bit prouder, he wouldn’t have been able to swallow Michelle’s attitude, but being the cynical head he was, he felt like dying of laughter.
Seeing the cynical glint in David’s eyes, Michelle sat back down, knowing it would take a while for him to calm down, but then she was met with the questioning gazes of Ivona, Anastasia, and Kieran, making her arch a brow. "What?" she asked as she looked at them. "What did I do again?" she added.
But neither of the three wanted to speak to her at the moment, as they had to process the information they had just found out, so they kept quiet, leaving Michelle to sigh and close her eyes, waiting for David to calm down.
When he calmed down, he reached into his sleeve and took out a communication stone. "What?" Alexander’s annoyed voice came through when David inserted spirit energy into the stone. "Why are you bothering me?" he asked.
David sighed and rubbed his temples in annoyance. "Come to the information guild..." he said before cutting off the connection and throwing the communication stone back into his spatial ring.
On the other hand, Alexander nearly crushed the communication stone, but he stood up and went to the illegal auction house. He traveled fast, so within a minute, he was, from the other side of the city, in the auction house. Bypassing the pretty ladies, he headed straight for the office and opened the door. "What did you want?" he asked coldly, but then he noticed Michelle and her group lounging on the couch, all lost in their own thoughts, and his eyes glinted with mischief. "What’s going on here?" he asked as he walked over and sat on the armrest, right next to Michelle. But he kept his attention on David as if he didn’t notice the group.
Instantly, he noticed traces of David’s cynicism in his eyes, understanding that Michelle had said something that drove him to that state, and he suppressed a smile. David noticed Alexander’s suppressed smile and felt like rolling his eyes. "Why did you never tell me that she has completely black soul energy and that her soul leash is Binding Chains?" David questioned as he motioned at Michelle with his chin. "I could have solved everything much faster," he said as he glared at Alexander.
Hearing that, Alexander shrugged. "I forgot to tell you..." he said lazily, clearly taking the situation lightheartedly even though the void within his body was plaguing him and tormenting him for years already. "Anyway, what’s all this about?" he asked.
"You knew that she had soul energy identical to void and didn’t put two and two together?!" David was enraged. "Just how much more nonchalant can you be about this? This concerns your life, did you forget?"
For a while, Alexander and David bickered while Michelle and her group listened in, surprised that the two were even able to live in the same land together when they hated each other so much. When Alexander and David finished bickering, they turned to Michelle. "So you can really cure it?" David questioned. Logically and rationally speaking, there should have been nothing preventing her interference, but he was still unsure.
Not really liking being doubted, Michelle decided to give David a straight-on, firsthand experience. In an instant, she conjured a chain in her hand and swung it at him. He dodged to the side easily, since he was much more powerful than Michelle, but her chain cut through the thin layer of void around him and he instantly felt it, his eyes widening. The void around him reacted to Michelle’s chain, and some of it even connected to her chain and went to her as she retracted the chain. "Is that enough of a reassurance?" she asked with a frown.
"It’s... enough..." David nodded, still speechless from the fact that there was slightly less of the void around him. Though it didn’t change the warm, tingling sensation in his spirit veins, which used to be a burning sensation in the heavenly realm, he felt some hope.
Seeing David’s expression, Alexander understood what he had just gone through, and his eyes darkened. Was that brat in front of them really the cure they had been searching for in the last few years? He never really cared about finding the cure, as death wasn’t something he was scared of, but since David dragged him down to the Land of Exile, he stayed there, wandering around, finding things to amuse himself with.
And just when he was getting so bored that he wanted to return to the heavenly realm to stir up trouble, even if it cost him his life, he stopped by the auction and heard the voice of a brat who was willing to increase the bid he placed by folds to get an egg that seemed worthless. It was a rare egg even in the heavenly realm because it was a blood egg, with life formed out of someone’s blood, but he only bid for it out of boredom. He didn’t care about what was rare and what was common. Since it seemed like something to alleviate his boredom, he wanted to buy it.
But then, the young voice raised the stakes, and in the voice, he could clearly recognize an instinctual desire for the egg. The bidder in the private room was the true owner of the egg, from whose blood the egg was formed, and only by receiving his blood would the egg hatch into the right species with its full power. He never thought that the egg would hatch into a Divine Snow Fox.
Then, another day, the brat turned out to be from another world, possessing knowledge he could never have dreamed of. The gravity and Newton’s laws she told him about were something no one had ever thought of.
Everyone just assumed that people didn’t fly because spirit energy was pulling them down, and that birds could fly because they had special spirit veins to resist the pull down, but she told him something completely different. And when he studied what she said about the spirit energy never flowing up or down, only sideways, he found out she was right. It was impossible for spirit energy to be the force keeping people on the ground.
At first, he just wanted to bring Michelle to the heavenly realm with him to stir up trouble and see how she would act in the turmoil mentioned in the great prophecy by one of the divinators, but at the moment, he wanted to observe her and see what other things she would bring to the table.
