Chapter 98: Prelude Of Chaos (3)

While holding the rifle in his right hand, he started walking in the direction where their fight was taking place. He was silent, and the calm expression had returned to his face.

Of course, just because he might have been holding a gun, that didn’t mean Spade would rashly enter and fight together with his subordinates. He might be furious, but he was still rational and could control his urges and anger.

Letting the anger through his head was something he wouldn’t do unless he really was put in the corner. He wasn’t in that desperate situation yet.

Everyone could only follow him, but they became more alert than ever. It was like the hearts of everyone nearly escaped from their chests the moment Spade snatched a gun and thought the Emperor would suddenly rush in and respond with gunfire to their enemies. Fortunately, it seemed that wasn’t the case.

Spade wasn’t bothered by what his subordinates were thinking and kept his pace; there weren’t any establishments open on their way. It even appeared to be an abandoned city at a glance, in complete contrast to the other directions where people were being evacuated.

And once he was already at the railings and overlooking the highway below, Spade stopped, and he could witness the intense gunfire that both parties aimed at each other.

His dark amber eyes fixed his focus on them and watched everything unfold. He knew that they were at an advantage because they were prepared, but he just couldn’t calm down. He fiddled and grasped the rifle in his hand, lost in his thoughts.

Spade didn’t know where the uneasiness was coming from. He lifted his head and roamed his eyes around, first from below, then turning around to look behind him. Nothing was on there; the royal guards around him were still in their positions, guarding him and ready for any fight that might arise any minute.

Despite his calm appearance on the outside, Spade was extremely uneasy inside. Was he missing something or simply overthinking? His eyes flashed with an ominous glint before shifting his gaze back below.

If he missed something or was overthinking... he could get an answer from those members. He narrowed his eyes, he needed to interrogate someone. And before he could think further, Levin’s voice rang from the earpiece.

"We caught someone," the voice was hurried, and it seemed there was still a mess around him; loud gunfire resounded from his background. "Stop him!" he yelled, obviously not directed by Spade and without waiting for Levin.

"Where is he?" He asked someone beside him or even those in the earpiece. He didn’t care who could answer him; he only needed answers. He nodded after hearing the answer and strode in the direction given to him; it wasn’t far from where he was.

His pace was so quick that even his guards struggled to keep up with him. He didn’t mind them and rushed to come to Levin’s side. His impatience was seeping into the surface, and his hold on his rifle tightened.

He didn’t take too long and arrived where Levin and some of the guards surrounded the area, their guns aimed at the center, and they were prepared to fire any minute. Spade even noticed the bloody scene and some of the guards that were already injured on the side.

He looked at the scene with a calm expression before shifting to the center. Levin stood to the side, as there were three other persons aside from them.

However, two were already lying on the ground, and it seemed they were in critical condition as Levin dragged someone who was still fighting to escape.

"Fucker, everyone will die... everyone!" He laughed maniacally as he struggled before being silenced by Levin’s punch, but the man didn’t seem to care about the pain as he continued to laugh.

Spade continued with his steps, and the guards instantly made way for him but still maintained their positions. Levin also noticed Spade as he lifted his head and let go of the man in his hand, who was laughing insanely on the ground.

The man lifted his head and made eye contact with Spade; he paused for a while, recognizing him, but only grinned after.

"Your Majesty..." he said, without any fear at all.

Spade didn’t care for him and cut off the chase early on.

"What other plans do you have?" he inquired. The authority in his voice was magnified, and he released his pheromones, dominantly forcing the alpha as he looked down on the man.

The man’s face contorted from pain, becoming affected by Spade’s pheromones, and he trembled.

However, it seemed the man was really ready to die, and instead of answering Spade, he only laughed again, his eyes bright as if mocking him before opening his mouth and seeming to want to do something.

Spade was prepared for it to happen as he didn’t let the man do anything, and before the man put his fingers on his mouth, Spade moved and kicked the man in the face harshly.

The blood from his lips and mouth splattered to the ground, staining Spade’s shoes with blood. The man groaned and coughed up a few more drops of blood, but Spade didn’t stop there, even stepping on the man’s left wrist and pressing them intensely on the ground. This made the man wail from the pain in both his wrist and his face.

Spade didn’t bat an eyelid from this and expressionlessly watched the man from below. He lifted his head and nodded at Ace at his side. Ace complied and squatted in front of the man’s hands to scrutinize it.

Afterward, he looked at Spade and nodded. "Your Majesty, both of his thumb and pointer finger’s fingernails are charred black, the poison is suspected to be stored there as other members caught earlier."

His lips tightened as he shifted his gaze to the man that was struggling in pain on the ground. Spade put another part of his weight on his foot, stepping into the man’s wrist while also intensifying the suffocating pressure of his pheromones on the man.

The man’s pupils dilated, and he almost became breathless, as it also became difficult to scream for him. Spade looked at him with his darkened amber eyes, expressionless.

"What other plans do you have?" He repeated his question, this time in an even more dark and more oppressive tone than earlier. The urgency and uneasiness that Spade was feeling were getting stronger.

The man’s breath became hurried, and he appeared not to be in his right mind anymore, or at least he wasn’t far from being there. The pheromones of a dominant alpha like Spade were also difficult to handle for normal alphas, especially as they were targeted only at him.

"P-Plans... cough... hehe! Too late, too late." The man, even with the pain, still managed to laugh, or perhaps it was because he had gone insane and become numb about it.

However, Spade didn’t dwell on that reason as his brows instantly knit. What was he saying... too late?

"What do you mean too late?" Spade questioned him again, almost growling under his breath; it seemed he vaguely understood something, and his heart skipped a beat as a bad premonition dawned on him.

The man’s laughter sounded amidst his few pants and coughed in between, making everyone who heard it annoyed.

Spade’s expression was no longer calm and extremely dark; he stepped on the wrist with too much force, and there was already blood on them, staining the ground and his shoe intensely.

"Tell me!" he commanded in such a deep tone that everyone surrounding him almost staggered from their positions. This was especially so for Ace and Levin, who were behind him, as Spade’s suffocating pheromones almost affected them as well.
