Chapter 195: A Day With Arren and Rave

Rave looked at him that the words were clearly written in his eyes without him saying them out loud.

Arren pouted and slumped lazily on the couch. "I’m serious," he said.

The omega stared at him and observed him before sighing; he had finally captured all of Rave’s attention this time.

"Arren, are you... going to sneak out again?" Rave inquired; there was an interrogation in his tone. The omega also knew his history before when he was grounded since Arren had shared it with him during one of their conversations.

With this question, Arren couldn’t say that he didn’t expect it. Still, he gave Rave a look and expressed an expression of being offended.

"Of course not! Why will I sneak out?" He retorted, after all, he wasn’t really grounded this time. He could leave anytime!

Rave looked confused as he asked with furrowed brows, "Then, how?"

Arren knew why Rave was confused. As he said, it wasn’t really a good time for him to be playing around outside. However, he was already feeling so stuffy inside the mansion that he felt like a prisoner once more.

Of course, wanting to go out didn’t mean Arren would also compromise his safety. He never thought of sneaking out and being a pain in the ass when he wanted to share the burden with Spade and not become yet again the bigger reason for stress for the alpha instead.

"I’ll tell Spade," he answered casually, continuing amidst the unconvinced stares of the other omega. "I’m sure he’ll allow me to wander for a day outside as long as I bring enough bodyguards, and we’ll not tell anyone besides us that I’m outside."

Arren told Rave his plan and hurriedly added, "It’ll turn out well, it’s only a day anyway." I think... he added in his mind. Even though he said it confidently, Arren wasn’t sure if Spade really would allow him to leave the mansion or anything that was under their protection.

Still, the capital was still the capital in the end. No matter how the organization infested this city, it couldn’t be larger than Spade’s forces. One that gave him confidence was that the organization couldn’t do what it did last time as it needed a more conclusive plan than now when no one expected him to wander around.

Rave stared at him, not saying anything, as though still unconvinced. He pondered and looked at Arren. After a while, he finally responded. "It’s fine, as long as His Majesty approves of it."

He knew his place, and just how important Arren was to Spade; if something happened to him outside while with him, Rave already knew what would happen to him... and his father. No matter how pure their friendship was, there was still a reality within their status.

Although Arren didn’t care about it, Rave, who also sometimes forgot, would always remind himself about it.

After getting his answer, a smile gradually appeared on Arren’s face. He became excited and sat straight with bright eyes. This wasn’t the first time that he would hang out with a friend, but somehow, as he would be with Rave this time, he had a different feeling. He couldn’t help but anticipate it more.

So, that night, Arren immediately told Spade about his plan. He didn’t want to worry him and also let the alpha plan his security.

"Spade, can I go?" Arren asked his tone calm and only asking without anything like cutely begging or pushing what he wanted. Even if he really wanted to go out, he respected Spade’s decision so much.

He didn’t want that Spade would only agree because he urged him to agree and pestered him. Arren left it to the alpha to decide, he knew the dangers more than anyone.

The alpha felt silent on the other end, and Arren patiently waited for his decision. He was sure Spade noticed his intentions this time, he was trying his best to depend and not do anything he wanted anymore like before, no matter the consequences.

After almost a minute, Spade answered his request.

"It’s fine." He paused as though he had made the difficult decision but became relieved as well with this answer.

Arren was about to say something, but Spade continued with his words. There was now a smile in his voice as he gently said, "I’ll make sure you’re safe, so just enjoy and don’t worry."

As he listened to these words, it was Arren’s turn to fall silent. He turned to his side, his eyes staring at the wall as it flickered with warmth. He grinned and chuckled, "Now, I suddenly don’t want to go out and want to visit you instead."

At this, Spade’s deep chuckle sounded in his ears, somehow making Arren sleepy. He always felt comfortable when he heard the alpha’s voice, it made his heart calm down.

"I won’t object to that idea either," he answered, playing along with Arren.

Arren laughed and shut his eyes, listening to the alpha’s voice. "After this, I’ll return to the palace," he whispered, his voice tinged with sleepiness.

Spade hummed, lowering his voice further. "I’ll wait for you."

Both had already forgotten that, in actual fact, Arren’s home wasn’t the palace yet. Even Duke Evan was not getting in the way either and supported their relationship.

That night, Arren fell asleep while talking with Spade, and the alpha on the other end didn’t end the call either, as he worked at night until the call ended automatically.

The next day, Arren also informed his father about his plan to go out; the Duke’s opinion was also important to him.

"What did His Majesty say?" the Duke asked as he put down his fork and stared at Arren.

"He said it’s fine," Arren answered, and he also glanced at Rave, who was eating with them at the side, who also stopped eating but fixed his gaze on his plate.

Duke Evan seemed surprised for a while, but eventually, he recovered and touched Arren’s hand before letting out a laugh, "What can I do?" He then turned solemn, squeezing his hand, "I know you, son. Make sure to stay cautious. Even if you know you have protection, it’s always better that you kept your guard up."

His father went on and on about safety and what he needed to do while outside. And throughout it all, Arren listened to them without being annoyed. He knew that he was being taken care of, and he could only sigh; it seemed like going out was really a bad idea after all.

Since it was already here, Arren would really enjoy this day and hole himself up in the palace again for everyone’s sanity.

Two days later, when the two of them set out from the mansion, they were already using a simple car. It also didn’t have any logos of noble houses, and who would have thought that Arren was sitting inside?

They didn’t have a convoy, which would make them even more conspicuous, but he was sure that most cars they would encounter today were part of his security. Even Arren didn’t know how many of them there were or who they were; Spade had prepared his security after all.

He looked outside, which felt like a long time since his eyes laid on them. Arren’s eyes were fixed on the road and the increasing establishment that their car passed by after leaving the vicinity of the noble’s district.

"Do you like being outside so much?" Rave’s curious voice rang within him, he turned around and instantly made eye contact with the omega.

His lips curled. "Is that so obvious?" he carelessly laughed.

"Why?" the omega inquired again, curiosity filled his eyes, which made Arren laugh even more. Sometimes, Rave’s expression was extremely innocent and cute.

Arren didn’t answer him immediately but instead leaned his head on the seat, glancing at the road outside. His gaze softened, but Rave’s question also left him pondering.

Why did he love being outside so much? Was there any reason that he was an extrovert and loved to play around rather than being a shut-in? Perhaps those were part of the reason but not the actual reason.

His eyes watched as their surroundings changed so fast that he couldn’t even clearly see the gradually receding images of buildings and people in his vision.

It made him think—what was really fun about looking at these people who he clearly didn’t know? After thinking about it, he laughed again and returned his gaze to Rave, who was still looking at him and waiting for his answer.

"I can’t say I totally love it." Arren had times when he also wanted to relax at home, reminiscing about the times that he almost gradually forgot with each passing year. The smile on his lips remained as he continued, "I like how real it is."

Rave’s confusion seemed to deepen with this answer. Arren’s laugh became wider, and amusement filled his eyes, which almost disappeared from his laughter.

He also knew that this answer didn’t entirely make sense, even for him. But it was true, and Arren loved how real it was.

"Rather than saying I love the outside world, I can say that, I like how it made me feel that... I’m really alive." He genuinely smiled, not caring about what he was blabbering about.

His eyes shone, and he finished with a remark: "It’s bustling with activity, and it kept me awake. That’s it." He laughed and turned around again to look outside, a smile unwavering on his lips.

Arren loved it loud, as silence was sometimes accompanied by his nightmare.
