Chapter 181: Leader’s Identity

Ivo raised his head and met Spade’s oppressive gaze, he was really pressured by the alpha’s presence. However, he had to answer. After all, this question was relatively simpler than what they were about to talk about for real later.

Spade didn’t leave his eyes off the elder omega, observing the slight changes in his expressions and even his tense movements while waiting for his answer.

"We met at Hamayana Island," Ivo answered, fidgeting with his fingers to calm himself. "Uhm, he sat at my table and he was lost. Then I—" Before he could finish, Spade interrupted him.

"Were you the one who helped Arren?" Spade inquired. This time, his tone was softer, easing the atmosphere slightly.

Ivo was taken aback for a moment before quickly nodding his head as an answer.

"Yes, Your Majesty." He seemed to want to say something but finished it like that.

Spade’s impression of him was bad, and it still is, but considering he was the one who helped Arren at that time, he would try not to give him a harder time in this conversation. No matter what his intentions were for helping Arren, he still helped him nonetheless.

He leaned back, keeping his pheromones at bay. The pressure in the air then decreased. It was still there but significantly lessened.

Arching his brow, he spoke casually, "Now, I’ll cut the chase short, we know what we’re here for. You want to meet me because of what you know about the organization. In turn, I can give you protection or even help you with something you want." starting the real conversation without giving enough room to breathe.

"However, as being part of that organization that firmly has the goal of creating chaos in the world, you’re not exempted from punishments. No matter your reason, but... it will be less severe." Spade demonstrated his authority and what Ivo could get, or even the same consequences, for confessing his involvement in this organization.

It was better to start knowing the terms and what they could get from this meeting so there wouldn’t be confusion later on. There was no way to give exemptions or examples; otherwise, he would be asked for the same thing given the precedent. Yet, giving a lighter punishment would do.

Ivo seemed to anticipate this from him, as he only calmly accepted it and didn’t object to anything he said. Spade’s impression of him improved; what he liked the most were those who could cooperate and were smart enough not to raise demands in disadvantageous situations.

Having that settled, Spade skipped on something that could be asked for later but went straight to the most important for him at the moment.

"Rave Amos once said that you know who is the leader of the organization, and you saw his face." Spade paused, controlling himself. He had conjectures in his mind, and even he was somehow afraid to know the truth.

More than that, his disgust and madness for this leader had run so deep that he could barely suppress them any longer. The only thing that made him hesitant was... his aunt.

"How... is he related to my aunt?" he asked, waiting for an answer. However, his question gave off the impression that he was really only confirming the guess in his mind from Ivo.

Ivo sensed it, and he drew a deep breath. His resentment towards this leader was no less than that of Spade. He was the one who ruined his family, his delusions and insanity were what made his life miserable for years.

Swallowing the anger in his throat, he nodded his head before the monarch. Grasping his hand, which was now trembling as he recalled the leader’s face.

"Of course, he is related to Princess Coreen." He smiled bitterly; if not for Spade being the one who asked this question, Ivo might have laughed. He then continued, raising his head and staring straight into Spade’s amber eyes.

"The leader... is her husband, Marquis Laurent Ford." He dropped the bomb casually, but the tone and the emotion in his eyes while saying it showed otherwise. It was filled with obvious anger and the desire to tear him into pieces if he could. That was how he resented this man, cursing him to hell.

Spade, who expected this answer and only confirmed it, still couldn’t quite believe it once the answer was finally laid bare before him. Shock was written in his eyes before he blinked his eyes.

To think the traitor was always in front of them, making fun of them, was something that left him speechless. Spade couldn’t think or even say anything for a while. He was still processing this: the same person who swore loyalty in front of his father and the one who married his aunt was the same person who was preparing a war behind their backs.

But then he furrowed his brows, realizing something. The House of Ford was always part of the Royal faction since it was established, and the organization seemed deeply rooted and appeared to have ties with the Old Empire.

Noticing his confusion, Ivo answered his questions that he didn’t need to voice out loud.

"Marquis Ford is not the first leader, he’s an heir. Not only did he inherit the organization from his father, but even their insanity for generations." Ivo didn’t conceal his hostility in his words, revealing what he knew.

Enlightenment soon appeared in Spade’s eyes, this made sense. The organization that seemed to have hidden forces with enough confidence to start a war with the colossus Empire or even the world couldn’t possibly have been created in only a few decades. It had to be far longer than that.

His fingers tapped on the armrest while pondering, the House of Ford... What had gone wrong? He started to think about their history. How a descendant from the Old Empire could sneak in. And even a lunatic who desired power at that.

"Honey," a soft voice called out, and soon he was now behind Princess Coreen.

"My Lord!" the servant saluted upon seeing him. It was Marquis Ford, Levin’s father. He had a smile on his face, which was then welcomed by a sweet smile by his wife.

"Honey," gently responded the princess, still holding the rose that was drenched in her blood.

The Marquis glanced at it but didn’t bother with it, as though he didn’t care or even see the blood. His soft smile, unwavering. He wrapped his arm around the princess, caressing her face.

"Honey, it’s time to take your medicine." he gently spoke, bewitching the princess for a moment.

Seeing this familiar scene, the servant bowed her head, silently muttering to herself that... She didn’t hear, see, or know anything. It was for her survival.
