"Want me to carry you into the bathroom?" Spade gently offered.

Arren smiled, but then he shook his head. He might want to act spoiled for much longer, but he didn’t want to look fragile either. He didn’t want to be treated like that, so he might tease the alpha for it, but he still wanted to walk on his own and get used to this feeling.

"Just support me a little, I can go by myself." He rejected Spade’s offer. The alpha looked at him and nodded.

"Okay, let’s go. You need to eat."

Arren agreed and, with difficulty, managed to enter the bathroom. As he said, it didn’t take him long for him to endure it and ignore the pain in his lower back. It was there, but not too serious anymore.

"You need to eat," the alpha firmly ordered, and Arren could only laugh since he also wanted to eat as he was already starving.

While they were eating, Arren only persuaded Spade to join him, and they talked about some things. And Spade briefed him on the matters that happened in the past few days, including some plans they had, like the event in the Capital Square to give a grand commemoration of all the victims of the ’terrorist’ attack that happened over a week ago.

Spade also gripped his hand tightly, a faint smile appearing on his lips. "What I also mean, attending beside me?"

Arren’s smile somewhat faded as he looked at the alpha’s bright expression and smile; he seemed to still be processing what he was saying.

"You mean?" He already vaguely understood, but he still wanted to confirm, his emotions were already a mess.

He knew someday Spade would introduce him to the Empire, given their serious relationship. Now that this time had come, Arren still couldn’t help but be nervous, but he was also excited.

The alpha nodded, smiling assuringly, and grasped his hand before kissing it to his lips under Arren’s gaze.

But it was more or less given that the moment he was introduced to everyone, on a formal and solemn occasion no less, Arren’s position as the future empress would be sealed.

Arren was truly happy as he leaned in and kissed Spade, giving him only a chaste kiss before pulling away and nodding his head, grinning with delight. "Of course, I’ll gladly accompany you... and be by your side, always."

With that, Spade leaned in and continued their kiss.

"Your Excellency," a silent and almost trembling voice sounded in the silent room. He stood behind the man, who was standing and admiring his plants silently.

"Hmm?" the man called Excellency responded with a hummed calmly.

"I’m sorry, Your Excellency. The operation failed." The man bowed, already trembling as though awaiting the judgment of death.

The silence shrouded the room for a few seconds, but this did not make the man relax; instead, he became even more afraid.

"Failed?" Just one simple word and the whole room’s temperature suddenly became cold, the man who was bowing shivered.

The man called ’Your Excellency continued calmly, "After we changed the plans and took a lot of risks, and you’re saying... you all failed?" He turned around and faced the man, his oppressive gaze focused on the man. "Useless!" he uttered in a firm voice.

While his voice had not increased, it was enough for the man bowing to almost kneel on the ground and beg for forgiveness and a second chance. The man’s pheromones filled and shrouded the room; it was truly shocking that his control over his alpha pheromones was even more stable compared to other dominant alphas. It was still a mystery if he could overwhelm Spade in this aspect.

Ignoring the man bowing before him, who, if looking closely, was even older than him as he was already hunching, he loosened his cuffs with a composed expression, but his pheromones said otherwise.

’His Excellency clicked his tongue as his footsteps sounded before stopping just beside the bowing older man. The older man nodded, not daring to argue.

After saying that and giving one last glance to the man, who could only nod his head, he started walking again, leaving the trembling man behind.

The man wanted to yell and say something, but he had a cover in his mouth like the dog’s muzzles. However, with his red eyes, it could already be discerned that he was cursing the man before him.

’His Excellency’ only laughed maniacally before calming down as nothing had happened. "If you don’t want him to die, reveal the whereabouts of your wife."

In Amos’ eyes, the man before him was not human at all, but a demon.
