Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Zara and lilith marry

Lilith looked into Zara’s eyes, her expression unwavering.

"You have to marry me now too."

Zara blinked in surprise, her voice hesitant as she replied,

"But Lilith... I haven’t even told my parents yet. How can I get married so suddenly? I didn’t even know what that mark with Grace meant."

Lilith’s expression fell. Her gaze dropped to the floor, and her voice turned quiet.

"So... you don’t want to marry me, is that it?"

Seeing the sadness on her face, Zara panicked.

"N-No! I’ll marry you! Don’t be sad, Lilith!"

A tiny smirk tugged at Lilith’s lips as she looked up again.

"As Zara’s lover, I’ve already tasted your blood." Then, softly, she asked,

"Now, Zara, do you accept me as your wife?"

Zara’s breath caught in her throat. But looking into Lilith’s hopeful silver eyes, she sighed and nodded.

"I accept."

As soon as the words left her mouth, a glowing silver ring-like mark appeared on her finger. At the same time, a similar silver mark shimmered into existence on Lilith’s hand.

Zara looked at it with a soft smile.

"Lilith... with Grace, I didn’t say anything like this. So how are we even married?"

Lilith, now grinning proudly while admiring the new mark, replied,

"Because of a blood oath. Grace is one of the Progenitor’s daughters. Her bloodline is ancient and powerful. She swore an oath that whoever defeats her in a duel would become her wife."

Zara blinked. "Wait... she vowed that?"

Lilith chuckled, brushing her hair back smugly.

"Vampire vows are binding—especially from a noble bloodline like hers. Grace took that oath seriously. You beat her, so now you’re stuck with her."

Zara looked at her hands again—one mark for Grace, one for Lilith—and sighed.

"I feel like I need a manual for all of this..."

Lilith leaned in, her eyes glowing faintly.

"Don’t worry. As your wife, I’ll be your personal guide."

Zara groaned. "That sounds more like a threat than a promise."

Lilith’s lips curled into a sly smile.

"Well, you can take it as a threat, dear. Don’t worry."

Zara sighed again, then turned her attention back to the glowing ring on her finger. Her brows furrowed as she noticed something odd.

"Lilith... why are these marks different colors?"

Hearing her question, Lilith looked down, fingers absentmindedly tracing the bedsheets. Her voice came out soft.

"Mine’s silver... because I’m your second wife. That’s why."

Zara’s heart sank a little. She frowned, watching Lilith’s fingers slide quietly across the fabric, her silver eyes lowered.

’Why does it have to be like that? can’t it be equal?

Her gaze drifted to the ring again. Then her eyes lit up with sudden realization.

’Wait—I just got that ’Power Upgrade’ chance from the system, didn’t I? Could it work on this?’

Without wasting time, she focused her will, invoking the upgrade.

A faint glow surrounded her finger, and suddenly the silver mark vanished—replaced by a crimson-red mark, matching Grace’s, with the same slashing sword tattoo etched inside.

Zara smiled, satisfied.

"Perfect—now it’s equal—"

But before she could finish her thought, a sharp scream pierced her ears.

Startled, she spun around—Only to see Lilith staring at her own hand, mouth open in shock.

Her mark had also changed. The silver hue was gone, replaced with deep crimson... identical to Grace’s with dagger.

Lilith’s body trembled as she slowly turned her head to look at Zara. Her voice quivered, barely above a whisper.

"D-Did you see, Zara? Our mark... it’s red now. Not silver anymore."

Little tears welled up in her silver eyes, her usual confidence crumbling.

Zara’s eyes widened at the sight. She quickly reached forward, pulling Lilith into a warm embrace. One hand gently cradled the back of her head as she spoke softly.

"Shh, Lilith, don’t cry. We’re married now, okay? Don’t worry about who was first or second. You’re mine. That’s what matters."

Lilith, who was so often calm or teasing, gave a quiet nod against Zara’s shoulder. Her arms tightened around her, as if afraid to let go.

After a long moment, Lilith gently pushed Zara back onto the bed, her expression soft but intense. She leaned in, kissing Zara on the lips.

Zara’s breath hitched, her toes curling as she sank into the softness beneath her, feeling Lilith’s warmth, her love, her lips.

Zara’s breath was shallow, her face flushed as she gently tilted Lilith onto the bed and moved on top of her. Her heart pounded in her chest as their lips met again. With trembling fingers, she began to slowly undo the ties of her dress.

Lilith smiled softly, her eyes fluttering closed. She raised her hands to cradle Zara’s face, welcoming her touch with a quiet warmth.

Outside the room...

Not far away, Grace stood leaning against a pillar, muttering to herself with a dazed grin.

"Hehe... she beat me so easily... so cool..."

Nyssa, passing by, raised an eyebrow at her daughter’s odd behavior. She walked up behind Grace and gave her a light slap on the back of the neck.

"Ouch!" Grace spun around sharply. "Rose! Don’t do that or I’ll—" She paused mid-sentence when she saw who it was.

"Ah... Mother." She awkwardly rubbed the back of her neck.

Nyssa folded her arms, staring at her daughter with a sharp yet amused gaze.

"Grace, now that you’re married, what do you plan to do? Zara didn’t even know about the oath, and she doesn’t love you—yet."

"You’ll have to build that relationship from the ground up. I told you not to make such a reckless blood oath in the first place."

Grace nodded along, but her eyes were distant as Nyssa’s voice faded into the background. Her thoughts spun.

’Wahh... but she beat me with just one move... she’s so cool. I didn’t get what my sister saw in her at first, but now... hehe, I think I’ve fallen for her too.’

She giggled quietly to herself, her cheeks faintly pink.

Nyssa, seeing Grace giggling and shaking her head like a lovestruck fool, sighed and walked away, muttering,

"These girls... what am I supposed to do with them?"

Nearby, Clair sat in a sunlit chair with a book resting on her lap. She had quietly observed the entire scene. With a soft sigh, she leaned back against the chair, eyes thoughtful.

Lucy, lounging beside her, let out a low whistle.

"Wow, I didn’t expect that from Grace. I thought she was the bratty type—the kind who’d never admit defeat."

Clair didn’t answer right away, but a small smirk tugged at the corner of her lips.

As they were talking, a new presence shimmered into view between them.

A girl with an hourglass figure, wearing a revealing purple dress and reading a novel in one hand, appeared as if summoned by curiosity. Her glasses framed sharp, intelligent eyes, and her voice dripped with playful mischief.

"Oho~ what are we chatting about here? Someone actually managed to beat Grace?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

Clair looked up and said flatly,

"You’re late, Edith"

Lucy chuckled. "Yeah, you missed the show. Grace is head-over-heels now."

Edith tilted her head, amused.

"Grace? Falling for someone? That sword freak?" She giggled behind her fingers as if hearing joke.
