The dragon's harem
Chapter 1342 - 1342: Inspiration

If Eris can't fully tame her portfolio, then she won't be able to ascend into godhood. It will take time, patience, and a lot of effort, but she is slowly going down the right path.

Meanwhile, Mira was in a little bit of trouble, but nowhere near what Eris was facing. She was now still in the half-angel kingdom alongside Arad and the rest. Lucifer had sent them a letter saying they should return to the castle since an important person wanted to see Arad, but he wouldn't explain who or what they wanted, just that they are quite the sensitive kind.

Mira's problem with that is that she had just gotten into a heated argument with one annoying woman. The same one who made the Gatling -gun crossbow. The two couldn't agree if the design was bad or just inefficient.

After a few long minutes, Mira asked Arad to take her away, which was strange. He was sitting there listening to them, and Mira, indeed, didn't look fine.

When she called Arad, he stood and approached. The woman was both concerned and confused. Mira had brought up several good points about the design and colling and even had a way of making it use less magic, but she couldn't help but feel strange when talking with her.

"Are you okay? You seem a bit more- heated than usual." Arad asked as he sat alone with Mira in another room. She took a deep breath, poured herself a large mug of water, and then gulped it down.

"There is something wrong with my head. That crossbow of her, I was thinking about how to remake it."

Arad lifted an eyebrow and leaned forward, "And- is there a problem with that?"

"Of course! I'm talking about remaking it, not creating something new, not even a better version. I usually don't think like that." She sighed and leaned back. "That crossbow of hers is amazing and powerful, but I've got no reason to steal the design. I can just buy it from her or make something better."

"And you're worried that the first thing your mind drifted to is how to copy her work?" Arad tilted his head, and Mira nodded, "Exactly, that line of thought is poisonous, and I've already gone too deep in the argument that I had to ask you to drag me out."

"It's better you relax a bit then. That crossbow is a powerful weapon, yes. But we don't need it. At least for now." He smiled, "We've still got the bombs, after all. The Mira bombs."

Mira almost choked on her water, "We agreed to keep those hidden. You know how vast the destruction they cause! Let alone the death curse afterward."

Arad laughed, "I know. Just mentioned that you've made a stronger, more valuable weapon than her. I believe Isdis once said that each kingdom has different strengths and weaknesses. That means we might need different weapons to empower us."

Arad leaned forward, waved his hand, pulled a bow from his stomach, and laid it on the table. "How about instead of making a crossbow that fires multiple bolts, you'd make a bow that's easier to use?"

He took the bow and pulled the string with ease. "A bow with a high draw weight, but it doesn't require a lot of strength to draw. Some enchantments might work, or even some rare wood that we can grow." He looked at her with a smile.

"Blast everything in that general direction is good, but it lacks finesse. Instead of having one soldier that can blast everything, I'd like to have a squad of accurate archers to snipe people without causing too much destruction."

Mira looked at the bow for a few seconds and then asked him to hand it to her.

The warbow Arad pulled had a draw weight of around 70kg{Around 150 pounds}. Mira tried to pull the strong, and she managed to do it thanks to her demi-goddess body and well-trained, well-developed muscles. She was a carpenter, after all.

"From what I see, the problem is at the end. When I fully pull the string back, it's exhausting to keep it pulled and aim." She let go of the string and took a deep breath. "How about a lock? One that keeps the bow locked at the full draw without needing the archer to hold it? That would allow them to aim better." She smiled, "Then a spyglass, one that allows those who can't see well like Valeria to aim at things far away."

Arad nodded, "See? It wasn't that hard to find something to do."

She looked at him with a grin and leaped over the table to fall on his lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck and rubbed her face on his chest, "I knew I could count on you. You always manage to calm me down and give me inspiration."

Arad combed her hair with his fingers and held her closer, "We'll. I'm always close, so you can rely on me if you want." He smiled, "I can even grab that woman, beat her down, and bring her design."

Mira clenched a fist and punched him in the chest, "NO! You won't, it's hers. I'll make one for us from scratch, and it'll be much better."

At that moment, Tina walked into the room. "The guest had left, and it's time for us to respond to Lucifer's call." She approached them, "I'm sure you can keep the romantic part for later. To the night, perhaps?"

Aella walked in and looked at them. She then smiled as Zephyr flew from behind her and rested on her head. Zephyr looked at Arad, put one leg on another, and then waved her hand. "Tina is right- work comes first. You can chase girls later. I'm sure none of them is running away."

Mira blinked, "Zephyr? You're here?"

"Is it strange to see me with my Herald? If I'm not buzzing around, it's wise to expect me to be either inside Aella or Arad. Those are the only two places I rest at." She turned into a gust of wind and sept into Aella's body, mixing with her magic.

Arad stood and stretched, "She is right. Time to go. We'll finish this later." He gave Mira a smile.
