Chapter 235. You could heal him.
Chapter 235: 235. You could heal him.
After saying those words, Barak had fallen unconscious yet again but his hold on her feet remained firm even in his unconscious state. And Neriah was made to remain in that seat until hours later his hold on her feet eventually loosened and Rakavi led Neriah back into her room to rest.
"Neriah," Rakavi calls her name and Neriah looks up at her with a tired yet expecting gaze.
"Do not worry too much, Barak will come to his senses and see that you are innocent just as Badhan and I do." Rakavi says and a smile crawls over Neriah’s lips as Rakavi’s words make her remember the only nice words her husband has said to her since she found him again... ’I give up. You win." He had said, so maybe Rakavi is right. Maybe he is finally ready to believe me. Is what Neriah’s thinking.
"Thank you, mother." Neriah says and Rakavi nods and turns to walk out of the room only to turn around again.
"Neriah, there is something I need to tell you." She walks back to the bedside and sits next to Neriah.
"Speak mother, I’m listening." Neriah says while wondering what the woman could so desperately need to tell her.
"Neriah, I—" She pauses and stares at Neriah for a moment before talking again, "I don’t want you to take my words lightly, but Neriah, I think you can heal Barak."
At first the words don’t make sense in Neriah’s head, but then the meaning behind those words begin to become clear and Neriah’s eyes widen in shock, "Me? Heal a person? How could I? I don’t have such power."
"Listen to me Neriah, this is a knowledge not many have, but you know dragonbloods can heal themselves naturally, while elves can bring life into dying plants. But due to Barak’s damaged heart, his healing is taking a long time."
Once again, Neriah was reminded, Ah, that’s true. He was stabbed in the heart.
Seeing him in pain today made her realize that he’s really been going through a lot since the last time she saw him.
It also made her still wonder, how he was able to fight all those people off, capture her and ride a horse so fast like it was nothing.
He was in so much pain yet at that moment, he looked completely fine.
"All he needs now is a little healing help." Rakavi continues and Neriah is further confused.
"And how am I of help in this case?" Neriah asks.
"Neriah, when a dragonblood meets an elf and they join their bodies, like Bashan and I once told you, it enhances your powers." Neriah was aware of that. Thanks to them explaining it tk her back then, her powers which had been locked for so long was finally opened, and she was able to control plants at her will. She could make flowers bloom and put life back into dying flowers. She could control dead dry logs of wood, but that was the extent of her power.
She had never thought using it on a person was possible.
Of course she’d heard of healers back in her home. Elves who were gifted in the act of healing people but she was not one.
"The fact that you have Barak’s child inside you will make your powers even stronger than usual because you not only mixed your blood with a dragonblood but also have one growing inside you which means you have someone with the ability to heal inside you." Rakavi explains further.
Holding on to Neriah’s hands while staring into her eyes with hope, "Your powers right now are mixed with that of your unborn child. If you try, you will be able to manifest the fusion of your child’s power with your own on a wounded dragonblood."
If what Rakavi is saying is true, then Neriah could be able to help Barak. Neriah was now thinking, She would finally be of use to him for once and not only that, this might be a way to prove to Barak that the child in me belongs to him.
Will he forgive her if she is able to heal him? Will he accept their child if she successfully heals him and prove to him that she wants nothing but him to be alive and well?
"It will be even more effective since the wounded dragonblood is the father of the child you are carrying." Could this be true? Neriah wondered.
"I_ I don’t think it is possible. I’ve only ever revived dying plants. How am I supposed to heal Barak?" She had doubt in her heart. Though she had hope, her doubt was still big.
"There is no harm in trying my dear." Rakavi pays her hand. "You do not have to do much. All you have to do is do exactly what you would to a dying plant and see where that leads."
"What if I only make him worse? He is doubtful of me as it is, he will forever hate me if I make his painful situation any worse."
"Sometimes Neriah, we have to try and erase all the negative things that can happen and focus only on how good it will all be if everything works out." Neriah could not help but wonder if it was even possible to think of only positive things in a situation like this."Think about it my dear. I know this is much pressure on you and forgive me for burdening you with such task, but from what I see he is in so much pain and you seem to be the only solution at the moment."
Neriah’s eyes closes and an image of thee bruised body of her husband flashes before her eyes, "And I know you would have been even more distraught to find out I knew of such a solution and didn’t tell you about it. So think about it. I will leave you to rest now."
Indeed, Neriah knew for a fact that she would have been pained if she were to later find out that she could somehow be of help to him and did not know it.
But now that a chance to help him was being presented to her, she was doubtful in herself.
Can she do it?
