The Dragon Prince's Bride
Chapter 195. Unconscious.

Chapter 195: 195. Unconscious.

"All this is for your sake." Neriah heard the voice in her head. A voice that once used to make her smile foolishly, a voice that she would have done anything to listen to. A voice that at one point in her life she was always longing to hear. Even just a whisper would have been enough.

However, that same voice had slowly began to irritate her, at some point in time she began to detest that voice because she longed to listen to someone else say all the things the bearer of that voice could utter. And eventually she loathed even the lowest sound that was from that voice.

And now while she was partly unconscious and partly awake, she heard that voice saying things that she didn’t want to hear.

"I did it all for you." He was saying. Her eyes were barely open. She could not feel any part of her body. She was numb from head to toe and her eyes were still dizzy.

"Do not worry, you will realize that soon, that killing prince Barak was the right thing to do." Although his face wasn’t all too clear in her eyes his voice was, his words were audible and she could hear everything.

"You will realize that the life you have been living all this while was a lie and you will see the hatred that will be thrown at you by his family whom you talked so highly about." Her head ached, and his talking only made it worse. She wanted to escape. She needed to escape him, but she couldn’t feel her body. All she could feel was the thumping headache it was as though her head would burst.

"They will desert you now that the death of their son and brother is on your head. They will show you the side of them you have never seen. You will be lucky if they do not take your life. But then you would realize that the only one who can protect you is me." She wanted to scream and tell him to shut his mouth, but she could not do that either. All she could do was listen. Listen to everything he had to say and.

"The only one who cares for you is me and then you will come to me and when you do I will accept you with open arms just like I have always done. When that time comes, you know how to find me. Find me my love. Come Find me." Those were the last words she heard before her eyes fully closed and she slipped into an unconscious state once again.

Thee next her eyes managed to open again, all she could tell from the blurriness of the world was that night had turned to day and by the way she was shaking, she was being moved to somewhere. Maybe because she didn’t care, or maybe she just didn’t have the will to care, but whichever it was, that was all she could make out before once again slipping into an unconscious state.

"Did you hear?" Were the words she heard the next time her eyes slightly opened and her ears functioned. It wasn’t tragonian they spoke. They spoke Avelian, but she could tell they were not Avelians because of their accent.

She tried looking around but everywhere was dark. Again she tried to move her body, but she couldn’t. Unlike the last time she was slightly conscious, she wasn’t on the move. Whoever had been moving her had either found a place to dumb her or was resting for some time.

"Hear what?" an unfamiliar voice passed through her head.

"That the crown princess has murdered the crown prince." At those words, her head began to ache all over again. He really was dead. He died and they were right... Whoever they were, they were right.

She had murdered him and at that moment, she felt tears well up in her eyes and trailed down her cheek.

"You mean prince Barak the prince of Trago!" They continued their conversation.

"Lower your voice or others might hear you."

"When did this happen? How come I did not know?" The voice of the women had drawn closer. She could hear them clearly talking about her.

"Where have you been? It happened three days ago. The whole of Trago has been in an uproar since then, all to find the treacherous princess."

Three days? Neriah wondered. So it had been three days. What had happened between those three days? She did not know and really, she did not care. All she wanted now was to slip back into that darkness that had clouded her for what she now knew was three whole days. She wanted to return to that darkness and stay there forever.

"I cannot believe it."

"Well I can. When I heard the prince of Trago had married an elf, I was against it from the very start. I have dealt with many elves due to my kind of business and they are wicked beings. I knew this was going to happen. This would not have happened had he married one of his kind or one of our kind."

Indeed,if only he had never married her. If only she had never barged into his life. It was all her fault. From the beginning to the very end it was her fault. It had always been her fault and so it remained. If only she had told him the truth about Lyle sooner. If only she had not made that stupid request that he met her in the garden of purple dahlias. If only she had confessed she loved him with all her heart.

She regretted everything... She regretted meeting him, because if she had not, he would have been perfectly fine.

"True, I always thought he would end up with Commander Alnar." Indeed, if only she had not come into their lives.

"We all did. But that witch of a princess must have put a spell on him, and blinded him to such a capable woman who would have been a great candidate for the future empress." Neriah was suddenly reminded of when she had asked Regina about her relationship with Barak.

She remembered the Ladies’ response vividly, {I am in love with Barak. I have always been. But now that he is married I won’t always be. And yes, we have spent many, many lonely nights together, but only as comrades, never as lovers. Now why I would have willingly given myself to him had he ever asked, he never once thought that way. Because although I love him, he does not. And although I have never confessed these feelings to him, I am certain it has never been hidden, but even knowing that he has never looked at me with an eye that was any more than he would look at his sister. When he returned with you as wife, I asked myself why, but when I saw the way he looked at you, I knew the answer to that because it was a look I always wanted but had never received. He loves you Neriah, I do not know if he has told you that yet, but take it from me who has known him since we could barely walk... He loves you, like he has never loved another. And instead of doubting such a man, I would employ you to hold on to him because other than me, I can count many other women who would gladly be in your position."}

Vividly... Neriah remembered those words vividly.

"Oh, our poor prince, he had to fall for a witch like that!"

"Indeed. I hope they find her soon." And with those words, Neriah entered into that darkness she longed for once again. She heard, saw and felt nothing. She was unconscious again.

""Find her!!"" She heard a person shout. Amidst her headache, piercing hearing, and blurred vision, Neriah thought the voice sounded familiar but she could not point out who it belonged to.

"" Search the boat! Find her!! This boat goes nowhere until the treacherous crown princess is found!!"" Those words made Neriah realize that she was the reason for the shout. She was the one they were looking for.

But who was it? And where was she? The person shouting had said boat. She wondered if she was on a boat. Whoever was moving her around had moved her to a boat. She knew it was Kyle’s doing. Who else would do that? And she was not foolish enough to not realize why he was moving her.

""YOUR HIGHNESS!!"" The shout echoed in her head. Whoever it was had entered thee place she was. "" I found her!"" The person screamed and Neriah heard the strong footsteps approach and at first all she could make out was a blurred figure...

So she called out the name of the person she longed for thee most, "Barak."

But the figure moved closer to her, and said, "" You will definitely pay for what you have done.""
