Chapter 144: 144. Beautiful morning.

It was time for Neriah’s morning bath so Aria led two other maids and they moved toward the door. She knocked three times and when no response came from behind the door, Aria could tell her dear mistress was still asleep.

"Did she sleep in?" Aria wondered as no response came from the other side.

She put her hand on the doorknob, twisted it and pushed the door open and stepped into the room only to freeze on the spot at the sight she beheld.

Legs intertwined, arms wrapped around each other, her naked mistress laid atop her equally naked husband, deeply buried in his arms with her hair scattered upon his clean chest. A total contrast of skin color put together and they... they seemed to be in a blissful sleep!

The other maids were about to step in when she took some steps back out, pushing them out with her as she closed the door behind her.

"T_the princess still needs to rest. H_his Highness is there too. Let us not disturb them." She said, practically shooing the ladies away from the door and back to wherever they had come from.

Aria stood alone by the door for long minutes trying to process what she just saw. It was normal between a married couple. It was expected for them to sleep together. So why was she so shocked? Was it because she had never actually seen them in such a position before?

He was always gone before she arrived to help her mistress with her bath. So like always, she had expected him to be gone today, but he was still in bed and they clung onto each other like real lovers!

That aside, "Dear goddess, how will I ever be able to get that view out of my head?" She thought as the image popped up in her head again and she shrieked and shook her body as she shuddered. To think she saw the nakedness of the prince, it was not something she actually ever wanted to see!!

"I need to cleanse my brain with soap." She concluded as she finally found the strength to run away.

Neriah tried her best to force her lashes to remain closed, she was in no mood to open them yet, nor did she have the strength to do so. Rather she enjoyed her current position and the bliss it brought her. But the damn light that penetrated into every corner of the room was piercing through her shut eyelids and disturbing her immensely.

She tried to sink her head deeper into her pillow to hide her eyes from the sunlight, but it was so firm, refusing to allow her sink her head into it.

"Dear princess," She heard the rumble of his voice as though it had come from deep within her pillow and that was when she remembered. The memory of the night before came pouring back like water from a broken dam.

That’s right, he returned last night. She said to herself in her head and even with her eyes still closed, she flushed as she recalled how they had gone at it like wild animals. She wasn’t even certain wild animals did it so much.

"Hey princess, are you going to keep pretending that you are asleep still?" His voice was playful with no hint of malice or bitterness that they usually spat at each other. It was pleasant.

She was atop him, she realized. She could not recall when she finally found sleep, but somehow she had ended up atop him and fallen asleep there. This was the first time.

"Ahh!" She jerked and giggled as he suddenly pinched her waist causing her eyes to fly open and before she could compose herself, another series of breath-seizing laughter escaped her lungs.

He tickled her waist. She could not stay steady. She squirmed and wiggled in his arms as he continued his assault on her waist, pushing the right buttons that would make her laugh and forget her dignity as princess. She was laughing uncontrollably while still completely naked!

"Stop! Ha ha, stop please." She begged as she could not laugh any further. Her stomach was hurting badly. "I cannot laugh any longer. Please stop." She begged with a wide grin planted on her face.

After a little more assaults, he heard her plea. Her laughter quieted down slowly as her breath took a much more calm rhythm. Their squirming and messing around had brought him to a sitting position while she knelt down between his legs with her hands on his chest and his on her waist.

Both of them completely nonchalant about their state of undress. The silence that rested between them was not one that weighed heavy. Not at all. It was just a silence that was brought about by a beautiful morning.

And the silence probably held the same meaning for the two of them, and they were both probably oblivious to the meaning it held for the other. For Neriah, it was a realization that had been building up, bits by bits it had been growing, like a budding plant. Like a little flower, it was sprouting, slowly taking its time to bloom.

Maybe soon, she would get a definite conclusion to this realization. Maybe soon, she would accept it completely.

For Barak, the silence was an affirmation. He had known it for long, he had not wanted to deny it, but then he had. However, he could no longer do so. Neither did he want to.

Neriah stared into his eyes and all she could see was her reflection. His eyes were completely filled with nothing but her. It made her wonder, ’Am I the same right now? Is this man the only thing filling my eyes right now?’ She wondered what the answer to that question was.

As though to give her an answer to her unspoken questions, he opened his mouth and spoke, "Indeed you missed me more. You have your eyes solely on me." He teased her and she rolled her eyes, but rested it upon him again.

"Tis not the reason I stare." She retorted, "I did not miss you at all." She lied yet again and he chuckled.
