Chapter 68: I’ll handle my husband’s desires!
Ren’s throat was too dry to make any sound, and her tongue was too heavy to move. Her heart was pounding so fast and loud that it didn’t allow her to hear her thoughts.
Logic wins, or her heart?
She had always lived like a selfless runt. Never asked to be loved, never wanted to hurt others. But for the first time in her entire life, she wanted something. His love. His attention, his soul, and his body.
But if this treaty was going to be breached and he touched her, her uncle would undoubtedly raid this land to take her back. And with her powers, enabling her to heal others, and tame griffins, dragons, and wild animals, he would never back down.
But what if she refused to go?
"Siamon once said, Shadow has no fear of revealing His Highness’s deepest desires. I know you want me quiet, but don’t let them shove you out of their way."
Arkilla’s words penetrated her mind like blazing fire, traversing all over her body and melting the sizzling ice. Shadow! How could she forget what he said? Kai could seal him down but let him come out and defend her. He knew that his demon would expose him to her and was entirely ignorant of others’ opinions. He was not shy, unlike that, he was intense, bold, and merciless. More significantly, he named her the Luna of the wolves. He didn’t want her to step back and crouch in a corner or be a prisoner. He was not looking at her like a hostage, but these people wanted to flip the card and take the power he was giving to her.
"What is your answer, Luna Reneira?"
"It is Your Majesty!" Her lips moved, and her voice was hoarse with rage and intensity. The heaviness of the atmosphere intensified. Her eyes darkened, and her heart steeled with resolve as she rolled the parchment...
"What?" Silvine inclined her head, not knowing what she meant.
Ren didn’t mind repeating herself. "You should call me, Your Majesty!"
The females sitting there swallowed, went stiff, and traded shocked glances with each other.
"Sure, Your Majesty!" The shiver in Silvine’s voice betrayed her. It demonstrated how unsatisfied she was with using that title for a human in Thegara. Ren couldn’t deny that in human realms, a shifter wasn’t welcomed either and was treated like a beast, but she wasn’t like others. Many things had changed since her husband did his best to show her the other side of Thegara. She would repay this later, but for now, she wouldn’t let these people use her as a pawn to defy him and take control over him.
She wasn’t a fucking fool!
Ren stretched her arm, holding out the parchment. The Serpent female presumed she was going to hand over the scroll back to her, but Ren looked her directly in the eye and let the nearby flame of the candle feast on it. The scent of smoke and sizzling parchment filled the air. She retreated her arm, dropped the parchment on her plate, and let it burn out.
Eyes grew wide, and aside from the thunder cracking up and mocking them with laughter, they watched the treaty turn into a pile of ash.
Ren wore a sweaty smile and tilted her head. "This treaty no longer stands. I’m the one who gets to decide for my heart. I’ve chosen His Majesty, and if there is a woman who must bear his heir, I’ll be the lucky one. My husband loves me, and I love him back sincerely. I’ll handle my uncle. Please don’t worry about His Highness’s coital needs. That’s my concern, not yours, my ladies." She purred, giving it a shy yet savage giggle.
She heard Arkilla swoon in joy in her head, ’Yes, you did it. You let me hear it. You are my strong Luna.’
That felt good. Fucking incredibly good to burn these mad females out. She was tempted to say, Now get that ass out of my home and worry about your own husbands’ wrinkled cocks! But the restrictions of a noble lady pinned her tongue in place.
"My lady, we are glad that things are well with you and Your Grace."
The Serpent female noted awkwardly, trying to force a smile but failing.
"But, Your Majesty! You can’t. That’s dangerous for your health." Silvine didn’t want to retreat, and from her intimidated face, Ren could tell her husband was yelling in her mind to insist harder and these were not truly her words.
"What? Is having sex with my husband dangerous for me?" Ren was going to be bold in using that informal word, which made one of the women spurt the water she was drinking.
Mouths fell open at Ren’s boldness. Their men were listening to this conversation through the link, and they could feel their men were equally startled.
"Please let me assure you that I am perfectly healthy and there is no danger. I am a healer, and I know what I’m capable of. I sincerely appreciate your concern."
With that, neither of them had anything left to say. Ren was done here. Her blood was boiling after showing so much courage and boldness. Being ruthless wasn’t bad sometimes.
"So, I hope we hear that you are carrying His Highness’s heir very soon."
Silvine retracted, and Ren could see the blaze of light in her eyes. Was that praise? She could swear it was. It was a victory to see your foe praise you. Silvine was Elaika’s grandmother. Certainly, she was as greedy as her granddaughter for the Luna position, but this had a lot to say.
She stood up, and the others followed her. Saying their farewells, they all left the living hall. Then, when she was alone, her trembling knees gave out, and she sprawled in the chair again. This was the agitation she was holding restricted.
The fresh tension was still wiggling beneath her skin, making her hair crawl. She had just roasted so many female shifters who could poison her or tear her to pieces. If this had been a month ago, she would have pissed herself.
She closed her eyes, placing her palm on her hammering chest and exhaling.
"That was good, Your Grace." An old rusty male voice complimented.
Ren winced, her head snapping toward the shadow of the living hall.
"Butler Siamon!"
He approached with a satisfied grin on his lips, a wide one from ear to ear.
"How have you been, my lady?"
Ren was shocked as she stood up. "I’ve been doing well. How long have you been there? They didn’t smell you?"
"They can’t smell me. And I was here long enough to hear everything."
Ren blushed. Oh, good gods! He heard fucking everything!
