Chapter 132: Not hurt at all!
Chapter 132: Not hurt at all!
Kai hadn’t meant to lose himself like a beast, but the moment she begged for more, all restraint shattered. After four intense rounds of making her unravel beneath him, her body finally gave in to exhaustion, and sleep claimed her swiftly. His own monster finally soothed.
With tender care, he cleaned her gently, wiping away every trace of their intensely passionate lovemaking to ensure she would rest undisturbed. Then, wrapping his arms around her from behind, he kissed the crown of her head, breathing in the delicate scent of her hair, and offering her his warmth to enjoy.
When she turned in her sleep, resting on her hand, he simply watched her exquisite face, silent, still, guarding her until dawn.
In the morning, the sun surged in the sky savagely. A sharp beam of sunlight pierced through the curtains, grazing her face. Her lashes fluttered before her eyes slowly opened. A dull ache pulsed through her limbs, muscles cramped from the night’s vigor. Then the memories came rushing in, every breathless moment, every exploration of his body.
Herself! Don’t say how many please left her lips.
Gods, it had been overwhelming... sinfully divine. She’d never imagined herself pleading for release, again and again, from her husband. He was wild similarly, turning her into positions she didn’t know were capable of performing.
Heat blazed across her cheeks, her temples throbbed, and her toes curled involuntarily. Her palm flew to her lips, stifling the gasp that threatened to escape and startle Kai awake.
His arm remained draped around her, his head resting against the headboard as he watched her with a slow, amused grin. She was clearly lost in the vivid memories of how boldly she had craved him, how ravenous and unrestrained she’d become. The mere thought stirred him again, heat flooding low as desire reawakened and made his cock hard.
Ren peeked up, only to find him very much awake, staring straight at her. Kai leaned down and pressed a kiss to her head. "Morning, doe-eye!"
With a flustered whimper, Ren covered her face with both palms, completely undone by the lingering aftershocks of everything they’d shared.
Kai chuckled, brushing a few strands of her stray hair from her forehead. "Hmm, that’s adorable. You go wild all night and then wake up acting shy."
"Don’t say that! I already feel so awkward..." she muttered from behind her hands. She wasn’t even drunk, absolutely sober and sane. And asked for, oh... Damn!
His smile faded into a slight frown. "Wait, you’re saying you didn’t like it?" His voice dropped, deep and serious. The light in his eyes dimmed.
An alarm sparked in her chest. She knew that tone. Without hesitation, she lowered her hands and turned toward him, pressing her bare chest flush against his, her face burying into the warm curve of his neck.
"That was incredible," she whispered, her breath soft and shy against his skin. "I just... can’t believe we actually did it."
Kai pulled her closer into his arms, holding her like something precious he wasn’t ready to let go, no he wouldn’t, ever. The temptation to indulge in a little morning "exercise" teased at the back of his mind, but reality loomed. His desk was a graveyard of urgent matters awaiting his attention, and the thought of being away from her for months already gnawed at him like a slow, dull ache.
"How about my morning kiss, wife?" he murmured against her hair.
Ren lifted her head and gave him a quick peck on the lips.
Kai blinked. "What was that?" he growled playfully.
"A kiss," she said sweetly, nestling back into his chest.
"No, that was a bird peck," he muttered darkly. Without giving her a chance to escape, he closed the distance and captured her lips in a bruising kiss, one so deep and demanding she nearly choked on the force of it.
When he finally pulled away, breathless and triumphant, she coughed, eyes wide.
Unbothered, Kai slid off the bed, stretched his arms, and turned back to scoop her up effortlessly into his embrace. "Come on. Let’s wash up and head to the dining hall. We’ve got a whole crowd of guests waiting, and every single one of them knows what happened last night."
Ren’s face flared crimson. Gods, she could already imagine their knowing stares. But more than that, her memory snapped back to the tea party, their whispers, their smug concerns. Those females had dared to question whether her husband could even desire her.
They knew now.
And here they were, alive, breathless, and tangled in the aftermath. Neither of them had died from the night’s ferocity, though it had felt like they might. From the smug stares! Or maybe only she was the shy one, there! Her husband was apparently so pleased.
The bathtub was already filled, steam curling lazily into the air. Gloria must’ve come in earlier, preparing everything with her usual quiet efficiency, no doubt while stifling her giggles, fully aware of what had transpired. Ren could almost hear her teasing laughter echoing in the hallways.
Last night, the sky had been black as ink, starless and swallowed whole by the veil of her husband’s power. He had cloaked the heavens themselves in shadow. Truly, he was the Lord of Shadow, able to wrap the world in his darkness, bending even the night to his will.
Arkilla would have felt it too. Not through the sky, but through the blood bond they shared. The heat must have surged through her veins, unmistakable and uninvited. Ren winced at the thought. It was embarrassing, knowing Arkilla might not have shared the same sensual pull, but she would have felt the warmth nonetheless. The poor girl! She must have been thinking about Orgeve! That cold bastard. How could he reject her?
The warm water lapped over her skin, easing the aches in her limbs. Her gaze drifted downward, bruises marked his thighs like fading ink stains, echoes of their passion.
"Why can’t my body heal like the Fae’s?" she murmured, breaking the silence.
As he finished washing her back, his voice was calm and thoughtful. "That must be your nature. You’re part human, part Fae. Maybe once your magic strengthens, your body will begin to change too."
Ren sank deeper into the water, closing her eyes. Gods, she hoped that day would come.
After stepping out of the washroom, freshly dressed and warm, Kai pulled her gently toward him and guided her to sit on his lap.
"I asked Az to come help you unlock the runes before we tell the Fae King about you," he said softly, his hand resting over hers. "But I didn’t realize it would hurt you this much. And he didn’t even wait for me to join you."
She looked up, surprised. Hurt? No. It was indeed quite the opposite.
