Chapter 160: Whose table they want to sit on?

Even Fil couldn’t hide her surprise the second she saw the pink crystals shimmering under the chandelier. For a second, silence dominated the hall as if there wasn’t even a single soul in there. All they could do was stare at the pink gemstone in awe.

Many of them were stunned by its mesmerizing color, while those who knew better than just the color had to see it closer.

"A pink diamond star," whispered in the crowd. "Just a small stone of that costs almost a hundred million or more since they only and rarely come up in auctions."

"That rock costs that much?"

"It’s so beautiful."

Those comments were only from those in the distance. As for those who were near the chairman’s table, they couldn’t even say a word because the crystal was even more mesmerizing up close. It wasn’t even crafted or processed, but there was no denying it was beautiful.

"A small scar across the brow and a strange man who is always mistaken as a homeless guy." Among the crowd, someone spoke and earned the attention of people in her surroundings. "Isn’t that what people in the gem industry describe the best jeweler in the industry, Mr. Windsor?"

"Mr. Windsor?" another woman repeated in a questioning tone. "The best jeweler in the world?"

"He crafted many of the most renowned jewelry, such as the Queen of Astoria’s necklace, the Whispering Moons of Aurora, and the Eternal Ring of Fire that is in the World Museum," the CEO sitting close to Marcus’s table where the women were talking, spoke. "I did hear from one of my associates in the jewelry industry about a man who was always misunderstood."

Those around the CEO looked at him with curiosity while he kept his eyes on the man standing right across from the chairman.

"They said he is the genius and has sharp eyes in identifying the purity of a gem in one look," the CEO continued. "From what I heard, he never cared about his appearance in public. He even ditches some of his biggest display shows. He also had a strange way of speaking and yet, he was highly respected by all craftsmen and jewelers in the world."

"What we witnessed tonight is a show many people would pay to see," he added in awe. "Attending tonight’s party is surely worth setting aside my work."

"So, that means..." The person who shared the table with the CEO shifted her eyes back to where the unhinged man stood. "That man is...?"

"That man is someone who has the power to ban anyone in here from entering the market or even stop anyone from getting any valuable piece of jewelry, no matter how much money you have," The CEO stressed. "All he got to do is say the word."

"Wow."

"And he’s right," the CEO added, nodding in agreement. "That table they were sitting on is not for everyone. If she brought that up on the table, they should start reconsidering whose table they want to sit on. The chairman? Or hers? What a bold move."

As soon as those words rolled out of the CEO’s tongue, those who were listening to him intuitively shifted their gaze to Valerie and Rosalind. Those two, who obviously tried to shame Fil, and that unhinged man, would have to be content in golds or anything but those Mr. Windsor touched.

The CEO’s words were only meant for those around him to hear, but words quickly spread. And in no time, it reached the chairman’s table and those around him.

’This man...?’ Fil mentally gasped as she gazed at the unhinged man, who was now caressing the stone as if it was a baby. ’Jack sent someone this influential and important to deliver a gift? I take it back. I was wrong for judging a book by its cover. I would never doubt Jackson again!’

"Is this true?!" After the surprise, one of the chairman’s associates couldn’t help but try to validate the man’s identity. "Are you Mr. Windsor?"

The unhinged man, Mr. Windsor, stopped caressing the stone and looked at the man. Instead of answering, he simply scrunched up his nose as if the other man disgusted him. But unlike the treatment he received earlier, everyone was just wary.

It could be true, after all, and even though they didn’t have to hear it from the young CEO, they were old enough in the business to know relevant names. One of them was Mr. Windsor, the man whom the CEO described his standing perfectly.

"This stone is a gift from this young beautiful lady." Mr. Windsor moved his hand to Fil as if his repeated message wasn’t enough to get his point across. He kept his eyes on the chairman and then scanned everyone slowly. When his eyes fell on Madam Sinclair, he placed his hand across his chest.

"And I am a gift to you."

"Okay!" This time, Fil jumped in a hurry since this man might have caused a misunderstanding. "Thank you, Mr. Windsor. I’m really honored to have you here tonight and present this to us."

"My pleasure." Mr. Windsor smiled at her before he faced the crowd and dramatically bowed.

For a second, silence followed his bow. But then, Madam Sinclair clapped slowly, which was then followed by the people around her before a round of applause erupted in the air. Surely, that was quite the show, and every second of it was worth it.

But alas, not everyone was easily happy and appeased.

"Prove it!" Valerie’s haughty voice struck the applause, making it stop. "Prove that you’re Mr. Windsor. If what they’re saying is true, then anyone could spend days without a shower, look homeless, and claim to be Mr. Windsor."

"Valerie," Vincent called as a warning to stop. "Will you please stop humiliating us even more?"

Valerie scoffed at her brother, knowing he wouldn’t do anything to her in public. Even the chairman wouldn’t embarrass himself for dragging her out of here. After all, she already believed this was just Fil’s scheme from the beginning.

"Prove it." Valerie jerked her chin, arms crossed. "Look. Everyone seemed to agree with me on this one. Anyone can pretend to be someone they aren’t. Prove this man is truly Mr. Windsor, for everyone’s sake. After all, this is Grandpa’s party and we do not want our guests to be duped by someone from this party."

Fil pondered as she looked at Mr. Windsor with a tinge of worry. The man, on the other hand, gave the same look of disgust he gave everyone aside from Madam Sinclair and Fil.

’He doesn’t want to, does he?’ Fil’s face twitched but understood the man’s point.

"You are so cute, Little Miss Hale." Suddenly, the enigmatic voice of a woman caught everyone’s attention. "Though, sadly, your adorableness comes from your lack of understanding of the real world."

Valerie arched a brow as her nose flared, looking back to see the person speaking. The second she did, however, her breath hitched as her entire body froze.

"Have you heard of the saying: Sometimes, proving yourself is an insult in itself? Asking Mr. Windsor to prove himself to everyone in here... I must say that is quite bold." The woman smiled. "Considering this man right here delivered a precious stone, and the person who made him come in here himself made your family a lot richer in just a night. That’s bold."

Soon, everyone’s eyes were on the woman speaking. Every single one of them instantly recognized the woman in one glance.
