Chapter 67: Enter the haunted house

Bojing cried tears of joy. "I was s-searching for you for so long. I wanted to re-return your bike..."

The young man stared at him with a puzzle forming in his gaze. "You were searching for me?"

He nodded hard.

"The one who stole - kindly asked for my bike?"

"I-I had an e-emergency to deal with..." he averted his eyes.

"I had my classes to attend to," he smiled.

"N-No offense b-but my emergency was re-really more important than y-your classes..." he said.

"Bojing!" Jia called out as she walked towards him and chuckled. "Here you are. I thought you ran away seeing the chance."

Bojing then realized that he just lost a golden chance to escape from the horror house attraction. Jia looked at the young man and asked Bojing, "You know him?"

He brightened. "Sis! He is the one we have been searching for!"

"Huh?"

"The bike! Th-The one that I took. It be-belonged to him. I finally found him," he sniffled emotionally.

"Oh! So it was his bike?" It then dawned on Jia, and she glanced at him. "A good coincidence to meet you here. Well, it was quite a predicament in which Bojing snatched your bike that day. It was really an emergency. I hope you forgive him..." she apologetically said.

"And here I was planning to drop a police complaint against the thief."

Bojing shrunk in guilt and tears. Jia cleared her throat and wondered whether to say that she was a cop.

The young man chuckled and shook his head. "I was just kidding. With the way you cried and bowed in apology while taking my bike, I figured you couldn’t be a thief. You were too polite to be one."

Bojing’s teary eyes seemed to slowly shine. "S-so you won’t put a ch-charge against me?"

"No. Though I would appreciate it if I can get my bike back," he smiled.

Bojing’s innocent and relieved smile illuminated like a golden sunbeam. The women around whispered and gushed at his beauty as if they just ascended to heaven. "Y-Yes! I have been taking g-good care of your bike. There is not even a s-single scratch on it, I promise!"

Jia sincerely thanked him for his understanding too.

"Oh y-yes!" Bojing took out his phone and chirped. "Can y-you give me your n-number? I will contact you to r-return your bike."

"Sure."

They exchanged numbers as Bojing asked, "What is your name?"

"Shilin," he gave a small bow, "Nice to meet you."

Bojing returned the bow as well. "I am Lu Bojing. N-Nice to meet you too..."

As the excitement of finally finding the man wore off, Bojing’s consciousness of talking to a stranger returned. But he was saved as a young woman gently crashed into Shilin, tugging his arm.

The girl who had bumped into Lan’s stroller sometime ago, Jia thought as she looked at her.

"Shilin! I forgot to show you my new smart watch!" She complained. "Dad gifted me hehe~ Look it’s so cool- Ah wait fuck why is it flickering!?"

She tweaked and fidgeted with the phone in frustration when Bojing said, "I-I will take my leave..."

Her head snapped towards him, finally noticing him and she stared at him for a few long moments, squinting her eyes.

Shilin politely smiled at Bojing. "Yeah. See you later."

"Y-Yeah! Th-Thank you for your kindness!"

He blinked at him, surprised and laughed. "You are funny, Mr. Lu."

Bojing didn’t know what to make of his comment, but he didn’t have the guts to ask him either. "B-Bye!"

The girl holding onto Shilin watched Bojing run ahead with full speed and couldn’t help but grimace. Shilin noticed her frowned expression and asked, "What?"

"Nothing. Anyway, let’s go. I will deal with my watch later. Everybody is waiting!"

Outside the horror house, the gang once again decided to split into two groups. One group would look after the kids while waiting for the other group to join the other crowd and enter the horror house. Lihua and Bojing vehemently agreed to take care of the kids and suggested that there was no need to split into groups. They would happily stay outside while everybody would have fun inside.

Lanying snorted. "No can do. We all will go inside and have fun with ghosts."

Lihua and Bojing hugged each other as they cried the common tears of fear. "You are mean!"

Xinyue scowled. "You better agree or I will drag you in by force."

Jia patted her head and consoled her. "Don’t worry. They are all just part of the staff disguised as ghosts. You just stick together with us and you will be fine."

"I won’t let a single ghost touch you," Wei grimly made a vow to protect her.

Li called out. "Come here you all!"

Just outside the entrance, a group of seven men and women, who looked to be college students, were ahead in the queue. After them stood Jia and everybody else. Mingshen poked her shoulder, giving off his devilish smile. "Spicy, please don’t hesitate to jump in my embrace during a ghost attack. I will thoroughly protect you~"

Jia jeered. "I will be sure to push you into the ghost’s embrace instead."

"You are so cruel, Spicy. Have some mercy on the ghost. But it’s why I love you so much. Your callousness is so seductive."

Bojing begged, "B-Boss, ca-can I n-not leave...?"

"No. Cry once more and I will leave you alone here indefinitely."

Frightened, Bojing shut his mouth.

Jia, Mingshen and a trembling Bojing who Mingshen was pulling by force, stepped inside the horror house and just then the female attendant stopped the group. "Only ten people can go in at once. Please wait for your turn."

"Aww, shucks!" Ruiling pouted.

Jia, Mingshen, Bojing, Ruiling and Xinyue formed the first group while Wei, Lihua, Li and Lanying waited outside.

Jia quickly said, "We can let some other group join instead."

No way I will get stuck with this psycho doctor!

The attendant nodded. "Sure, if that’s what you wish-"

But a sinister chuckle echoed and forcefully pulling Jia and Bojing’s wrists, Mingshen disappeared with them into the darkness and eeriness of the horror house to join the preceding group.

"..."

Xinyue squinted his eyes to see them vanish. "Hmm, will ghosts get him first or Jia?"

Ruiling choked. "Definitely Jia. She is going to kill him for this audacity."
