Chapter 374: The devil’s revenge (1)

"My dear Jiaaaaaaa!!!"

Yang Bingqing rushed to her side and completely enveloped Jia in her hug.

"Finally you are here! I waited so long for this day!" She sniffled. "Mingshen can be so slow."

Mingshen frowned. "Maybe I got that from you."

She sneered. "No chance. I confessed to your father the same day I met him and we got married soon after. You didn’t get speed from me."

Yang Cheng, listening from the side, refused to comment.

Jia trembled in the warmth of her embrace and felt at a loss. "I-I am so-sorry for coming unannounced like this, Aunt. It’s actually Mingshen’s idea and I said that I shouldn’t come here-"

"Preposterous!" Yang Bingqing gasped. "What do you mean that you shouldn’t come here?" She harrumphed. "It’s fine if Mingshen doesn’t come back but you are the most important!"

"Jeez, thanks so much for that unconditional motherly love, Mom," he dryly commented.

She glared. "Nobody is asking you so shoo!"

Yang Bingqing pulled her inside and made her sit on the couch. She wiped the tears off her eyes and held her hand.

"This idiot son didn’t tell me what happened but that is irrelevant. I always wanted you to become my daughter-in-law and now I am finally getting to live with you!" She cried emotionally. "I was so tired of seeing Mingshen’s face all day!"

"Should I do plastic surgery then?" He sneered.

"Will it replace your black heart!? Then shut up!" She spat in fury.

He shrugged.

She then ignored his existence altogether and smiled at Jia. "Don’t worry dear. Now that you are here, I would never let you leave."

"..Huh?"

*Ahem!*" Yang Bingqing coughed. "I mean to say that this is now your home too so a daughter doesn’t leave her own home, right?"

"Sure creepy, stalker Aunty," Mingshen chimed in his sneer.

She gnashed her jaw and threw one final warning glare at his side. "One more interference from you and you will have it from me..."

Mingshen shrugged again.

Yang Bingqing looked back at a haggard Jia, an ache stinging her heart.

Just what did my girl go through...

"Listen, Jia. I don’t know the pain you are going through. Maybe I will never understand it either but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. There are so many people who love you, that’s why I don’t want you to feel that you have to carry on everything by yourself...Right, Cheng?"

Yang Cheng glanced at his wife and then at Jia. Unlike her, he wasn’t a man with comfort skills.

"Mhm."

Yang Bingqing nodded. "Don’t mind his perfunctory response, dear. He is a man of few words but he passionately feels the same as me!"

He tilted his head with a frown to hear the shade thrown by his wife.

Jia was at a loss how to reciprocate her support and her kind words only made her too overwhelmed to answer. She knew she shouldn’t feel like a burden but she couldn’t help it.

"I am sorry Aunt..."

"You shouldn’t be sorry for anything. Sorry should be those people who made you cry!"

To improve her mood, Yang Bingqing chirped. "Oh, oh! By the way I have prepared a welcome feast for you! As soon as I heard from Mingshen that you are coming, I got to work. How about we eat? Look at how you think you have become! I will fill you up all nice and good!"

Jia looked down at her arms and belly and thought of the two pizzas she gobbled in stress-eating. She felt ugly looking at her own body.

"...I am not so thin Aunt," her voice cracked.

She gasped in horror. "What do you mean by that? And here I wonder how do you handle your cop responsibilities? One must have a healthy body to live a healthy life."

Yang Cheng gravely nodded at that.

"So no more ifs and buts and I am taking you to eat now," she flared her nostrils. "Mingshen!"

His brow twitched.

"Move all her bags to Jia’s room right away."

Yang Bingqing then dragged Jia all the way to the dining table while the father-son duo were left alone. Nobody said anything for a while and a minute later, Mingshen got up to leave.

"Where are you headed?"

Mingshen narrowed his eyes. "Something important has come up. I will be late."

"W-What is happening here!" Fenhua exclaimed, horrified with blindfold on her eyes.

Thinking that she had been kidnapped by a human trafficking gang, tears pooled in her eyes that wetted the blindfold.

"Pl-Please let me go...My fiance is very rich and influential. He-he will give you whatever you want!"

She gasped with the sudden light on her eyes when her blindfold was removed. As the blurriness settled, her gaze fell on an extremely handsome man seated on a throne-like chair with his leg folded at his knee. Just one look at his gorgeous beauty was enough to sap all the strength in her knees. Despite the beauty in every corner of his features, a chill had cast a layer upon his eyes that made him look like a devil’s incarnate.

"Your fiance’s status is not even enough to match the dust of my shoes so don’t bother with his help. The point here is not your fiance but you," Mingshen uttered with a quiet voice.

She let out a shudder.

"W-What do you mean? What did I do to you?"

"Not me, my wife."

"Wi-wife?"

"Who you humiliated at the party tonight."

Fenhua threw him a blank stare only to realize a moment later.

"S-Song Jia?"

He smiled. "I am glad to see your memory working just fine."

She stumbled back in horror.

He-he is Yang Mingshen!?

Mingshen leaned forward and tilted his head, enjoying the view of the cowering rabbit before him.

"Where should I start with you, I wonder?" He blinked. "The pure audacity of accusing Spicy of seducing me is such nonsense that my fingers are barely able to control themselves from strangling you. I mean here I am doing everything I can to climb onto my wife’s bed and you are ruining everything for me. This is grave insult towards me more than Spicy, you fool."
