The Devil Doctor's Spicy Love -
Chapter 359: Every thirty minutes
Chapter 359: Every thirty minutes
*Ding Ding Ding*
*Ding Ding Ding!*
"Oh my God Mingshen, what is it?" Jia asked, incredulous.
"Spicy it’s time for my London flight but I am already missing you," Mingshen sniffled. "Look, it’s still not too late. I will book your ticket right away!"
"You are not going alone. You have company."
He gasped. "Company that I did not ask for! I want your company!"
Her brow twitched. To her, Mingshen sounded like a five year old kid who couldn’t go without his mother.
"You will be fine."
"I won’t be."
"Should I call Mrs. Yang?"
"She will be happy to book your ticket," he beamed.
Yeah, let’s not go there...
She shook her head. "Don’t be like this. This is a good chance for you to talk to Miss. Xie and her games. Isn’t she going there for a game fest too?"
"But-"
"No buts."
"You will miss me."
"I will try not to."
"I am feeling you will really miss me very much."
She tilted her head. "Hmm, well maybe what I will miss the most are your home cooked meals."
Though Mingshen had barged into Jia’s breakfast and dinner space, she wasn’t necessarily complaining. At first she was but it felt great to not have to cook and get breaks now and then.
"That’s why I should stay back!"
"I can make do for a week."
He frowned. "And if you start going back to eating junk food?"
She paused and said with sincerity, "I am really feeling fine nowadays. I don’t feel that many cravings."
Mingshen sighed.
She is not giving me any chance...
"But what if you find yourself in a problem which only I can solve? What if you need only my support?"
"...I believe my seven days will pass by relatively peacefully. It’s not like a disaster is going to strike me."
"A disaster can strike anytime."
"Are you cursing me?"
"I just want you to come with me."
"Not possible."
His shoulders slumped, making her grimace.
"...But we will keep in touch with messages."
He blossomed like a sunflower.
"I will text you every hour! No, make it thirty minutes!"
Her jaw dropped, dumbfounded. "You do that and I will block you."
"Spicy-"
Jia grabbed his shoulders and made him forcibly turn towards the exit.
"Your flight is waiting for you."
"Spicy, don’t get too close to your ok ok boyfriend while I am away, okay? Even if we will be in different timezones, I will still be the closest to you! I will fly to your side the moment you need me!"
"..."
She practically forced him out of her house and locked the door for good.
"Phew. The storm finally passed by."
She went back to get dressed and noticed several missed calls. Her eyes slightly widened, seeing an influx of messages in an otherwise dead chat group.
Why are my college alumni suddenly so talkative?
She backread some of the messages and finally got the context. The buzz was about a high school reunion party after ten long years and the main admins of the group were all too excited to organize it.
Ah...Welp. I probably won’t get any time to join the party anyway. Not like I was particularly close to anybody.
As she reached the bureau, a whistle sounded from her back and she almost rolled her eyes.
"Yes Huojin," she folded her arms.
"Honestly somewhere in my heart, I expected Yang Mingshen to follow you here. How cruel of you to let him go to London all alone?"
He chuckled as he handed her a coffee mug.
"He is not going alone," she said while taking a small sip and making her way to her desk.
"Tsk, tsk, Jia. You still don’t understand him. In his language and dictionary, Yang Mingshen is all alone. He doesn’t consider any other existences than you," he laughed as he followed her. "I can see the flowers of loooooooove-"
"Shut up."
Jia’s phone vibrated with a message just then.
"Spicy, I am at the airport. Are you missing me already? Because I am totally missing you! I think our thoughts are in super sync.’
And the message followed by some crying emojis.
"..."
Huojin burst into a full-blown laughter. "Look, he is giving you real-time updates."
Another message just arrived.
’Why aren’t you replying back, Spicy? You promised that we will keep in touch!’
Huojin gasped. "You are breaking her heart, Jia!"
"Shut up-"
’Are you with your ok-ok boyfriend already?’
"Hey!" Huojin exclaimed his grievance. "I am not anybody’s boyfriend yet but I will be a super good boyfriend. Whenever that is..."
He grabbed Jia’s phone and replied out of spite.
’Hey there Yang Mingshen. What’s up? How about you just focus on your trip and leave Jia with her ok-ok boyfriend alone?’
"You!"
Jia snatched her phone back but it was too late.
"Don’t make it more complicated!" She kicked him on his ankle.
"It’s just my small revenge~"
Which was answered with a call from Mingshen instead of a text this time.
Jia threw him another deadly glare.
"Look, what you did!"
She spent the next fifteen minutes consoling Mingshen, who was already at the airport’s entrance to catch a cab to the bureau. At the end of it, she had to threaten a complete cut-off if he wouldn’t go back to the airport and only then, he seemed to calm down.
She drew in a long sigh of relief.
Finally! Huojin is dead!
She stomped her way back to strangle him when the office phone ominously rang. After Xiyang answered it and made notes, he rushed to Jia’s side.
"Mam! We got an anonymous caller."
"Man or woman?"
"A woman. She sounded nervous and anxious but she said that there has been an accident in the Hou family."
Her eyes widened. "Hou family as in..."
"Yes, as in Hou Tengqi’s family."
"What happened?"
"The middle son, Hou Anming, was attacked by the youngest brother, Hou Jielun and got into an accident. He is in the hospital."
