Mingshen and Jia threw Qin Ruwen a dumbfounded look.

"You two knew each for this long?"

"Wait, so what finally got you two out of that room?" Mingshen asked.

Qin Ruwen replied, his face hidden in the darkness. "Bojing. He came rushing in crying later and begged for forgiveness for forgetting me. He is the only one who cares about me..." he muttered.

Jia alternated her gaze between them. "So you two kept in touch after that?"

"Uh-huh. I became a regular here."

Mingshen - "..."

"What do you mean...regular?"

"To see her dance now and then. She is a good dancer. The void loves her too," he whispered.

"And you are here because..."

"She invited me to enjoy the festival. Unfortunately, it’s too bright outside," he squeezed himself further in. "I will die if I have to watch those martial arts matches with lights flashing all over my eyes."

Mingshen stared at him.

Here Spicy was trying so hard to gain entry in Huayuan and the trump card was right beside me all along...

Mingshen grabbed his shoulder and squeezed it hard in his palm, making Qin Ruwen gasp. He released all his frustration right then and there.

"B-Boss, the void is sensing some hostility from you..."

He smiled with a dangerous glint in his eyes. "I am about to send you right into that same void."

"You cannot send me to a place I am already at."

Through a slight crack in the door, a nervous voice came. "B-Boss, is that you?"

"Bojing!" Jia’s eyes widened.

"S-sis! I-I thought I heard some f-familiar voices from here..."

His gaze fell on Yong first and he gasped. "I-It’s you!"

Yong’s eyes narrowed and her lips curled into a smile. "We meet again."

"Senior Lu, is there somebody inside?"

Shilin popped his head inside too and blinked. Jia and Mingshen looked up at once and stared at him.

This time, Mingshen actually had to rub his eyes and do a second check.

"Is that you, newbie?"

"Boss."

He stared at Qin Ruwen and then at Shilin for several long moments. He let out a sneer.

"Guess my assistants really like to hide their secret lives from me. May I ask what are you doing here now? Is this the assignment you were talking about today?"

He smiled awkwardly. "My friends dragged me here for the festival...I met Senior Lu along the way."

Bojing craned his neck and blinked at the man enveloped in the dark.

"Is that you S-Senior Qin?"

"Bojing!" He waved his hand at him from the darkness.

Bojing’s lips parted in shock and he hurried to his side. "W-what is Senior Qin doing here? How...Y-You never like going outside..."

Mingshen sneered. "Apparently, it’s a long history with this woman we were chasing."

Everybody cast a glance at Yong, but she remained unfazed.

Shilin was taken aback. "He is really Senior Qin who you introduced me to at that time?"

Bojing beamed and nodded.

And yet I fail to see his face again, Shilin thought.

"Ah, the newbie in the lab..." Qin Ruwen commented. "The one who said he likes the dark sky instead of a blue one."

"Yes."

"Do you want to embrace the void with me?"

He blinked and smiled a moment later. "I guess I wouldn’t mind one trip to decide."

Qin Ruwen gasped. "I like him. As always, Boss recruits high quality people onboard."

Jia’s brow twitched.

He is high quality because he might like the void?

She threw Mingshen another look.

Jia let out a breath and looked at Yong. "I thought you would try to escape from here."

Yong smiled. "I don’t run around at home."

So Anhe’s source of rumors were true...She does live here.

By then Qin Ruwen was done giving a short version of their history to Bojing. The story stunned him and he threw a dazed look at Yong.

"A-Ah..! So it was you i-in that dance outfit and that m-mask when I returned to fe-fetch Senior Qin."

She simply smiled.

"So it was S-Senior Qin w-who happened to he-help you..." he couldn’t believe the coincidence.

Jia squinted her eyes. "It was that day when you decided to have your revenge with Anhe, right? For all she made you go through."

"I don’t understand."

"You do. It fits," she smiled. "It fits how Anhe claimed that she saw you following her now and then in the horror house maze to scare her but you always disappeared."

"I wasn’t there to begin with if you have forgotten, Inspector. I was in the second tunnel with Shilin, Daxia and Mr. Lu."

"No, you were in the first tunnel. I realized it tonight while following you through the streets here. The numerous alleys here are not any less confusing than a maze. Of course, the people living in Huayuan are used to it. That includes you. Which is why..." Jia arched her brow, "it probably wasn’t so difficult for you to navigate through the horror house maze without getting caught."

Yong stared at her.

"You most probably secured the maze map somehow and remembered the paths from entrance to exit. Of course, it’s not a walk in the park for just any normal person to do this. But not for you who has grown up in a place full of zig-zag streets and alleys. No wonder I felt so familiar when I was chasing you here. I felt like I was walking through that maze all over again."

Mingshen slowly raised his brow and felt an ’aha’ moment light up in his mind.

"Ah. So she went into the first tunnel the same way Bojing ended into the second tunnel through the secret passageways."

"Yes."

Yong smiled. "A remarkable theory. I am impressed. But there is only one problem. Unfortunately, I am not a superhuman to exist at two places at the same time. If I was in the first tunnel scaring Anhe, then I cannot be in the second tunnel with my group, who saw me walking with them the entire time."

"You used some kind of a 3D illusion, right?"

Her eyes narrowed.

"That’s the only possible explanation. Obviously, your plan will fail if the people in your group see you disappear. So you arranged some kind of a setup to delude the people into thinking that you were right beside them when in fact, you were not.

And it wasn’t difficult in the dark where people were already high with adrenaline because of the fear. After scaring Anhe all you wanted, you returned to the second tunnel through the same passageway and physically exited with everyone as if nothing happened."
