Chapter 342: Huayuan (12)
Chapter 342: Huayuan (12)
Qin Ruwen didn’t look like any less than a zombie trying to crawl out of a grave shown in horror movies. Yong saw the tip of his head slightly come out and she held her breath. She suddenly heard a click from outside the door and her eyes widened.
What is that...
Yong turned the doorknob helplessly but found out that it was locked.
How is it locked? They just-
Her gaze went cold thinking of how Anhe must have trapped her in with an unknown man. She angrily sneered.
So even if scared out of her wits, she has the brains to get me into trouble.
Her blood boiled with the thought of Anhe’s shamelessness but that was a matter to be dealt with later. For now, the bigger concern was escaping this room or calling for help.
Yong’s own phone was in the locker along with her handbag and the room’s landline to call for emergency was on the table closer to the couch. The couch under which the strange ghost was lying.
What the hell is happening here? I should just scream at this point-
"Excuse me..." he whispered. "Lights off...please...?"
Yong felt a sense of breathlessness in his voice as if he was tired.
He thinks I am really an idiot for switching off the lights?
"I will die..."
"..."
How will you die with the lights on?
"Shouldn’t you save your saviour...?"
"Huh?"
"Wasn’t my ghost acting...amazing?" He exhaled.
She blinked at his one-fourth popped out head.
"Ah, lights!" He immediately recoiled under the couch with a shudder.
"You are really a human?"
Qin Ruwen’s brow twitched. "You think ghosts exist?"
"Do you think a man lying under a couch exists?"
"I exist wherever darkness exists. I love black."
Yong felt like she could probably begin to lower her guard around him but still wasn’t really sure.
"Who are you?"
"An abandoned soul wandering in the void."
Her brow twitched hard. "In a karaoke room?"
"Like I said, I was abandoned. Forgotten. But it’s fine," he whispered. "I am never alone because the dark always finds me...On that note. Can you please switch off the lights? I am...kinda feeling breathless now. I want to get out."
"Do you think I should switch off the lights when the door is locked and I am trapped in with you?"
"I saved you...Or were you fine with the harassment?"
She said nothing.
"Okay anymore time here and I will really die of suffocation this time..."
Yong walked towards the switchboard and paused for a moment. She gave it a long thought and eventually the room went dark.
"Done."
Qin Ruwen didn’t waste a second and rolled out of the couch.
"Haaaa..." he took a sharp intake of oxygen in relief.
Yong’s eyes were still adjusting to the darkness but gradually, she could make out that he was leaning his back against the couch as he made himself comfortable on the floor.
Yong remained glued against the door. After a few long moments, she said, "Thank you."
She could see his head turning towards her and then tilting it.
"You all go to the same university?"
"...Yes."
"I see. Would you complain about them?"
She sneered in the darkness. "I would like to see if the principal can really get as shameless as Anhe so openly declared."
"What if he is shameless?"
"I will think of some other way to get back at her. And the guys too."
"I see. I heard that you dance here."
"Just as a part time thing."
"Can I see your dance?"
"Huh? When?"
"Now."
"It’s dark."
"I know."
"How can I dance if it’s dark?"
"The entrance part is quite spacious."
Yong frowned. Though it was an absurd request, it wasn’t that impossible. The room was still overall lit with a faint light coming from outside the window and through the curtains. She could see the table and couch. Otherwise, there weren’t many things to bump into.
Well, it could be a new experience for me...
She wondered about his visibility but considering that he put up the request himself, she guessed it was a useless question to ask.
"Fine."
Qin Ruwen blinked and was surprised to see her readily agree.
Yong took two steps forward and lifted her right knee as she spun around herself beautifully. She danced with grace, her steps deliberate yet fluid. Her bare feet lightly thumped against the floor, her toes brushing the ground in a gliding rhythm. She spun again, her arms weaving as if pulling invisible threads.
A sudden sharp pivot sent her translucent skirt flaring out, catching the faint glow of the light. She leaned forward, her masked face tilting slightly. With a sharp flick of her wrist, she turned again - this time faster. Her silhouette blurred into the darkness.
Qin Ruwen’s gaze locked on to her every step and spin. He didn’t need the glow of lights to see how beautifully Yong danced. Every breath that escaped her lips and every turn she twirled sang praises of her talent. He simply had his chin resting on his palm as he continued to stare at her dancing form.
With a final swirl, Yong stopped in a perfect arch and bowed.
Qin Ruwen rose on his feet and clapped. "You danced well. Very precise finger movements. The tiny taps."
Yong was taken aback.
I thought he wouldn’t be able to make out those...He really can see very well in the dark.
"Thank you."
She faintly noticed him rummaging something in his pocket. After he fetched it out, he walked towards and stopped a few inches away from her.
Up this close, Yong was barely but finally able to make out some of his features. She couldn’t see how he clearly looked but his eyes were surely staring intently at her. The dark only served to add mystique around him.
"Can you show me your palm?"
Yong blinked once. She slowly stretched her hand and felt him placing a small object on top of her palm. Yong squinted her eyes and saw a very small and thin tube of something.
"What is this?"
"It has a needle inside it."
"Okay...?"
"Coated with poison."
The small tube almost fumbled out of her grip as she gave him a dumbfounded look. "Poisonous?"
"I am a toxicologist."
"...So is this your gift to appreciate my performance?"
"That and you could protect yourself against creeps. You simply have to press this tube against the skin when they come too close to you. The needle will automatically slide out and puncture him."
"And he will...die?"
"No. But he will paralyzed for the next ten months. It has a very strong paralysing toxin. I am proud of this creation. I am now trying the effect to elongate for a year."
"..."
Yong wasn’t sure how to react. But her lips curved into a smile. "It’s really useful to have. Thank you."
He peered at her for a long moment. "Welcome."
