Bai Caishen was standing outside the court at a little distance, patiently waiting for the outcome of his brother’s hearing. Brown shades covered his eyes as an attempt to hide from the public’s view.

He had seen Mingshen’s car coming in with his brother accompanied by Bojing and another doctor he hadn’t seen before. He saw them going inside and he contemplated if he should join the hearing too.

Bro wouldn’t recognize me in this getup, he wondered.

He spent fifteen minutes like that, pacing back and forth beside a bench. When he finally made up his mind to join the hearing, he abruptly stopped in his steps, seeing Bai Yingtai and the gang exiting the court again.

He blinked utterly confused.

Didn’t they just go in? Why are they already out?

Wait, did the hearing get postponed or something?

His phone buzzed with a message and he saw that it came from Meng Rin.

’Caishen! The hearing got dismissed!’

Huh? Dismissed?

He looked up at Mingshen who held a gleeful smile on his lips.

Bai Caishen typed back. ’What happened?’

She replied a few seconds later. ’I don’t know either...But Huo Tengqi is furious. He has withdrawn the case.’

Bai Caishen arched his brow with interest.

What made him withdraw the case when he was so furious?

’He is really letting go of Bro who almost killed him and according to him, sexually assaulted you?’

’I don’t know Caishen. Huo Tengqi swore to punish Dr. Bai at any cost...But now...’

Bai Caishen slightly bit his lower lip. Though he was happy that his brother was free of all the charges now, he couldn’t help but get an uneasy feeling in his chest.

I don’t think this ends here...

He quickly typed. ’I don’t know what Dr. Yang did to make him do this but be careful Rinrin. If he does anything to direct his anger at you then call me immediately.’

"This is not going to end well," Bai Yingtai said saltily, apparently not so sleepy for a change.

Mingshen let out a yawn as he scrolled down his phone. "Hm?"

"Meng Rin is my patient. Why did you expose her medical consultations with them without asking me?"

"I don’t need your permission, employee."

Bojing gulped a nervous swallow down his throat. He sensed the perilous atmosphere creeping in with Bai Yingtai’s iciness. It was the first time he witnessed such a sour and cold expression on his face.

"Senior Lu, are you cold?" Shilin asked, who stood closer to him.

"I-I am worried a war will break out!" His eyes pooled with tears.

"You do," Bai Yingtai plainly said but with a hint of a deadly chill.

Mingshen arched his brow and looked at him. "Well then pray tell me genius. How were you exactly planning to get out when your ’crimes’ were so crystal clear? Intentional bodily harm and sexual assault."

He frowned but said nothing.

Mingshen sneered. "You thought that just exposing him was enough? That you saw he was about to hit her and you did what you did to protect her? Do you really think that was enough to take down a man from a Politburo family like that? Wake up from your goddamn sleep, idiot. There is a limit to dreaming."

"He would hurt her now that he knows she used to consult me," he said very quietly. "He is way too possessive to let this slide."

Mingshen lazily blew air over his fingernails. "Then you have to decide how possessive you are to allow him to do it."

Bai Yingtai said nothing.

He smiled. "It was nice hearing her voice. It felt nice to have a little crush on her. But that ends here if it is limited to those cute, adorable feelings. Anything stronger than that and you will be facing a Politburo family if you want to help her. You cannot help her if you are in jail. I thought that was obvious."

There was a long stretch of silence.

"Se-Senior Bai, I-I will help you too!" Bojing raised his arm.

Shilin smiled. "I am also here if you need any help."

Mingshen waved his hand at him. "Now shoo. That annoying man is going to come after you for sure so think what you want to do. I am not gonna be your fire brigade every time."

He then chirped. "Now it’s time for me to meet Spicy~ Ah, how I missed her."

Bojing shone. "C-Can I come too? I want to meet sis Jia too. I-It’s been some time..."

He chuckled. "Are you sure you want to come? I am not going to the bureau. Spicy is trying out her luck again to enter Huayuan. I am heading there. Your beautiful face will be a feast for those female guards."

"..."

Bojing held serious concerns now. "I-I will still come with you! S-sis Jia will protect me."

Mingshen snorted.

Bojing looked back at Shilin and beamed. "Will you come too?"

He smiled. "No, Senior Lu. You go ahead with Boss. I have some assignments to complete today so I was going to leave early anyway."

"Oh," his shoulders dropped for a moment. "No problem! You w-work hard!"

"Thank you, Senior Lu."

"Sis!" Bojing hugged Jia with his bright, sunny energy.

"Bojing," she beamed with the same energy. "Ah it feels so long since we have met."

He nodded hard. "How are you doing sis?"

She grinned. "Great!"

From the corner of her eye, she saw Mingshen’s figure and she cleared her throat, recalling the note he left for her this morning. She wanted to say something in response but couldn’t articulate her feelings.

Bojing stared at the huge gates of Huayuan with a stupor. "So pretty flower design..."

Mingshen asked, "What is your plan?"

Jia said, "I have an official warrant with me this time based on Zhuo Syaoran’s statement. Technically, they should let us in according to the cooperation contract."

He smiled. "I am sure that the leader would have expected this coming and thought of some countermeasure. Don’t hold much hope."

Bojing cried. "D-Don’t say that Boss. Let’s be positive!"

Jia hugged him again. "You are the only one who understands me, Bojing!"

Mingshen threw them a dry look.

So dramatic.

They approached the gate and the female guard in charge grimaced at Jia like all the other times she did, seeing her stubbornly refusing to give up.

Jia showed her the warrant this time and the guard simply raised her brow. Without saying anything, she went in and disappeared for a few minutes. When she returned, she stared at the three of them one by one and clicked her tongue in annoyance.

"Head right in. The leader has approved your visitation request."

Jia’s eyes widened.
