The Devil Doctor's Spicy Love
Chapter 324: Sharing a bedroom (1)

Chapter 324: Sharing a bedroom (1)

Mingshen stared at the ceiling with an urge to drown himself in the pool of sharks.

Of course Spicy wasn’t going to use her parents’ room. Me and my big mouth...

It was a good atmosphere until Mingshen’s mention accidentally made Jia think about her parents. He couldn’t get any sleep thinking about it.

He grabbed his phone and typed a message.

’I fucked up.’

A reply from Wei arrived a minute later.

’What happened?’

Mingshen gave a summary and typed. ’I want to kill myself.’

’A natural feeling to have.’

’So what should I do?’

’Whenever Lihua is sad, I hug her to sleep. She says she likes hugging me.’

Mingshen grimaced. ’You do realize that I would be dead if I try that stunt with Spicy, right?’

Wei replied back with ’Oh’ emoji.

His brow twitched hard with that response.

Who made him the Mafia King!?

’But you are still alive after kissing her so why can you not hug her?’

Mingshen stared at the message and had to admit it held a point.

I guess there is some merit in him being the Mafia King.

But it wasn’t a point Mingshen wanted to experiment with and prove today. He slowly turned on his side and stepped out of the bed with a full pain spreading across his back. He didn’t care.

He slid the door slightly and peeked out. Jia was resting her head against the couch’s armrest as she laid back with a book in her hand. The table lamp was lit, casting enough light on the pages to help her read.

Mingshen leaned against the wall, simply observing Jia from a distance. At one point, he realized something and his eyes slightly narrowed.

On the other side, Jia was staring at the same page of her book for the last ten minutes. Her eyes were on the printed words but her mind wasn’t. She would alternate her gaze between the spare bedroom and the book she was reading every now and then.

I should really get it cleaned...

She felt a tap on her forehead and looked up. Her eyes slightly widened.

"Mingshen," she immediately sprung to her feet. "What are you doing here? Didn’t I tell you to text me if you needed anything?"

"I believe talking would be faster."

"About what?" Her brows furrowed.

"Sleep with me."

"..."

Jia stared at him and asked with all her patience, "And you think I will say yes?"

He smiled. "For a perfectly logical reason as for not becoming a patient like me. You see, if you sleep here, I am afraid you will be added to the list of people with sprained backs tomorrow morning."

"So you mean to say that we should share the bed tonight?"

"Yes~"

"Couldn’t you have worded your question a little more differently?"

His eyes twinkled. "How is it my fault if your mind races to assume your unspeakable desires? I mean I won’t really blame you considering that I am Yang Mingshen, but I sincerely asked with the purest of intentions~"

Jia couldn’t help but let out a chuckle, feeling helpless. "You are torturing your back just to ask this?"

"It’s important and very valid."

She smiled. "I will be fine, Mingshen. Some nights, I have slept in my bureau office on my chair and my back was still alive. The couch is actually a comfortable upgrade."

Mingshen didn’t give up.

"When you stayed the night at Yang mansion, the host and the guest both had comfortable beds to sleep on. It is against my pride if the host here has to compromise."

She was about to reply when he raised his palm to stop her.

"And this is a doctor’s order too, who can foresee a painful end for your back and which is my job to prevent as per the doctor’s oath...whatever that is."

Her brow arched up. "Do you really follow the doctor’s oath?"

"When it serves my purposes, sure~" he chirped.

Mingshen grabbed her arm and pushed her to step out of the couch.

"Okay, okay, fine. I am coming...Do you really have to do this?"

"The last resort is me joining you here if you don’t budge," he sneered.

Jia was speechless. "You would become bedridden if you do that."

"Perfect. Maybe then we will finally be able to share the same bed. Two bedridden patients enjoying their back pain together~"

This man...

Jia walked past him and said, "Do not complain of space later on. This is not your king-size bed."

"I would actually complain if you sleep too far away, Spicy~" he grinned. "We should tightly snuggle against each other."

Jia glared. "Which reminds me what you did at the hot spring bath so this is a warning to stay extra away from me!"

"Is somebody feeling shy?"

"You might not want to test it," she sneered.

Mingshen shut the door and as he turned, he saw Jia tying up her hair into a bun again. His gaze stayed intact at her bare neck for a few moments longer than necessary.

"Mingshen?"

She waved her hand in front of his dazed irises.

"Huh?" His stupor broke and he glanced away for a second, puzzled at himself.

"Where were you lost?"

Yeah I will be dead if I say I was ogling her neck, right?

He coughed. "Just feeling how much my back hurts now."

"Is it better?"

Though Mingshen was slightly at ease compared to before, he didn’t risk saying it out loud in fear that there wouldn’t be a need to share a room anymore.

"Nope. Still the same."

"Well it’s not a magic ointment anyway so let’s be patient. You should feel better by tomorrow," she nodded and patted his shoulder.

Mingshen stared at his shoulder and blinked twice. As a doctor, he was more used to consoling patients and their families rather than being consoled himself.

"Spicy, spicy, pat me again! Pat me again!" His lips curved into an ear-to-ear wide grin.

"You finished the quota for today so go to sleep."

"..."
