Chapter 302: A, B and Z (2)
Mingshen waved his hand in dismissal and snorted. "What kind of a question is that? Aren’t there too many things?"
Yang Bingqing tried her best not to give a judgmental look, but she failed.
"Pray tell me and count the things B has done for A’s trust. I think my memory is failing me," she smiled sarcastically.
Her sarcasm didn’t reach Mingshen.
"Well it’s not too far-fetched to say that B is quite charming. He works with A and has helped her with his expertise on numerous occasions."
"That’s work."
"That doesn’t count?" He frowned.
"What has he done for her on a personal level?"
Mingshen looked away for a few seconds and jogged his memory. It suddenly proved to be a difficult mission.
Hm? Why can’t I think of anything?
Then his mind lit up with something. "You see, A was really injured for sometime so B was very gracious and generous in arranging a five-star dinner at her apartment to cheer her up."
"Was it by her choice or did B barge in with those arrangements on his whims?"
He averted his gaze. "Does that matter?"
She sneered. "Is there anything else worthwhile B has done?"
"He also gave her a very grand birthday celebration. A was definitely happy by it."
She hummed. "What else?"
Mingshen couldn’t think of anything else.
"Is that the end of B’s trust resume?"
He frowned. "There are many more things. It’s hard to remember everything. But A and B have spent a lot of time together."
"And how much of that time has B spent troubling the poor A instead of making her life easier?"
Mingshen took a step back.
Why does it feel like Mom is targeting me?
"Isn’t it why it’s so hard to think of B’s good deeds? Because they are non-existent," she sneered.
His brow heavily twitched.
"So if A thinks that B is the sort of a man who always troubles her or for whom she is only a source of his entertainment, then why would A go to B with her troubles? Why the hell should any woman go to B for that matter?"
"I...I mean B is not so insensitive to find entertainment in her troubles," he struggled to reply.
"Hm, that might be true but what has B done to reinforce that sentiment? Getting reactions out of somebody is funny for sure. But then why do you expect the same person to also reach out to such a person for help, who for half of the time wants to poke her for no good reason?" Yang Bingqing squinted her eyes.
I seriously feel targeted, he thought.
"Ask B again. What has he really done until now?"
The recap of his memories showed him how Jia was trapped in his lab like a prisoner after waking up from her coma.
Even after getting out of it, Mingshen only ever caused troubles for her, especially during her cases where his lack of cooperation brought severe headaches and unnecessary confrontations for her.
No matter how much Jia wanted to live a peaceful life, he would always barge in her life like a storm.
Mingshen’s expression was more than enough for Yang Bingqing to shake her head.
Ah, why is my son so hopeless?
Neither Cheng nor I were like that so why is he this way?
Why, just why?
"So A will never tell B anything?"
She coughed. "I mean it’s still not too late, provided B changes himself. At least the part where he doesn’t trouble her."
"How to do that?"
"Well, trust isn’t built in a day. It requires patience, especially in B’s case. But it’s not impossible. Planning a luxurious dinner or a grand birthday celebration is not wrong, but trust lies in subtleties."
He blinked. "B doesn’t know how to be subtle."
"Then he must learn," she shrugged. "Your presence doesn’t necessarily have to be shiny and sparkly. It just has to be there. Quietly. Patiently. Consistently. Trust is built on little things and gestures, not always grand schemes. You then let A decide when she wants to come to B."
Just be there...? He tilted his head.
"And if A does come to B one day? How should B solve her problems?"
Yang Bingqing blinked once. "Did Z solve the problem she was sad about?"
Mingshen thought back to their conversation at the walkway.
"Not really. They just talked."
"So B doesn’t have to solve her problems or fix anything either. He just has to listen. Maybe give her a hug. Sometimes that’s all that one needs."
Mingshen thought to stop at this point today. He wasn’t sure if he grasped everything rightly but he felt he at least got a head start.
His lips stretched into a wide grin. "Just be there...Hm, sound advice from you as expected~"
"Did you...really get it?" Yang Bingqing suspiciously asked.
"I think some of it? The rest I will figure it out as it goes. Thanks Mom. You proved very useful today."
She glared. "What do you want to imply? That I am useless the rest of the time!?"
"I didn’t say that."
"Hmph!"
He then asked, "By the way, what is your secret Mom?"
"Why should I tell you?"
"Aren’t mothers biased towards her children?"
She gritted her teeth. "And what has this child of mine ever done to make me even a little bit biased towards him!?"
He frowned. "Isn’t my handsomeness and talent enough for you to be swimming in pride?"
"Aiyaaaa," she held her temple with her sensing the pain coming from miles away. "Go. Just go. Get out!"
He clicked his tongue. "So prickly in this old age."
"Who is old here, tell me again?" Her gaze darkened.
Mingshen left her alone with her seething rage. "Good night, Mom."
"No good night for you!" She exclaimed.
"Sure," he shrugged.
Yang Bingqing grabbed a newspaper from the side and fanned herself, trying to dissipate the heat of her anger.
Just then, Yang Cheng came and sat opposite her. He paused. "You are feeling hot?"
She laughed angrily. "What else should I feel when I have a son like Mingshen?"
He didn’t dwell on it. "Let’s have dinner. Being angry on top of being hungry is not good."
She burst into tears. "Only you care about me Cheng! I love you a lot!"
"Hm. Me too."
—
Jia woke up the next morning and thought of going for a morning jog. She sighed.
Ugh, I don’t feel in the mood...Let’s just have breakfast and head to work.
She was about to go into the kitchen when she heard some noises coming from her floor outside. She slowly opened her door and peeked her head out.
Her eyes slightly widened seeing a lot of furniture move around her floor and go into the nearby empty apartment.
What is going-
"Spicyyyyyy!!!"
Jia ever so slowly turned her head and saw Mingshen zealously waving his hand from the bottom of the stairs. He climbed up in no time and grinned the brightest grin.
"Good morning, my new neighbor!!"
She stared at him unblinkingly.
"...Say what?"
