Chapter 301: A, B and Z (1)

Trust...

Mingshen was aware of the concept of trust, but now he was starting to feel that he really wasn’t so knowledgeable about it.

What do I have to do to make Spicy trust me?

It’s not like she hates me, but she doesn’t trust me enough...which means what?

Our relationship is kind of in the middle?

Mingshen’s brows furrowed.

"Idiot son, the soup will get cold," Yang Bingqing smacked on top of his head.

Mingshen was alone in the dining area, lost in his thoughts.

She thought she would hear some snarky comeback but seeing Mingshen stare at her made her feel suspicious.

"What?"

Mingshen gave it another thought and asked it anyway, "What did you do to earn Dad’s trust?"

She blinked twice. "Trust?"

"Or like what did he do to get yours? What did you two do that made you trust each other?"

Yang Bingqing touched his forehead. "You don’t have a fever."

"Why do you think I have?"

"You never ask such sensitive and humane questions. What’s gotten into you? What is cooking in your mind?" Her eyes narrowed.

He smiled. "Right now? Making my own mother my next research subject. It will be very fun."

She smacked him again, harder this time. "Shoo!"

He sneered. "Forget that I asked. I am leaving."

"Wait, wait!"

Yang Bingqing pushed him back on the chair and took a seat on the opposite one. "I didn’t say that I won’t answer. You are so impatient! You don’t care about the mother-son’s bonding time at all!" She sniffled.

Mingshen grimaced.

Then she blushed. "You asked how your father and I love each other so much, right? Well, what can I say...We are a match made in heaven-"

"I don’t care about that."

"..."

This brat!

"I am asking what made you trust him?"

"Well he is such a gentleman," she blushed further, "He did not hold any impure thoughts when he was dressing my chest wound the first time we met. Though I didn’t mind if he had," she covered her beet red face. "I knew that he was the man for me!"

"...That’s all?"

"Hey! Meeting a gentleman has become so scarce these days," she harrumphed.

He said in disdain, "I am not asking how you fell in love. I am asking at what point did you think you can share your feelings with him-"

"Oh I had proposed to him then and there~ Cannot lose that diamond of a man to other women," she proudly said.

Mingshen drew in a deep breath and willed his patience to be strong.

"I am not talking about your love feelings," he slowly reiterated, "The kinds of things...people generally hesitate to share with others. It’s different for everybody but you get the gist."

"Oh."

Yang Bingqing understood his context.

Then she sheepishly grinned, rubbing the back of her neck. "Well, there are some things your father doesn’t know about me."

Mingshen’s ears perked up. "Really? Why?"

"Well..." she looked away, "Let’s just say I wanted to start a new Chapter of my life so I didn’t want to dwell on the old ones."

He frowned. "And he accepted that?"

"Cheng has something he hasn’t shared with me either, you know? He was very clear about that when I proposed to him. That there is a part of his life he cannot tell me no matter what."

"And you agreed?"

"Well first of all, I had my own secrets so we were equals that way. And secondly, he is a damn attractive man."

"..."

"Gentlemanly and respectful on top of his gorgeous looks. Like hell I was going to let some secret make me leave him," she squealed like a teenager.

He gave her a dry look.

I asked the wrong person.

But let’s try one last time.

"So let’s say there is something else other than your secrets that is uncomfortable for you and stressing you out. Will you call Dad for help?"

"Of course!" She chirped.

"Not now after years of your marriage. Back when you were single? When you were getting to know him?"

"Hmm, it really depends. I had my little circle of friends..." she coughed.

My gang members I mean ahem...

"Sometimes I would talk to them. Sometimes I would talk to Cheng."

He frowned. "So you didn’t always call for him. Why? Where was he lacking?"

Yang Bingqing was taken aback. "Lacking? I never said he was lacking anywhere."

"You didn’t go to him during your stressful times."

"Not because he fell short anywhere. It’s really about...timing and vulnerability?"

Mingshen raised a brow. "That’s vague."

"It’s not. There were moments where I knew he would be the right person to lean on and other times, I needed to sort through things myself before I could even explain them."

"Then would you tell it to Dad or your friends after sorting things out?"

She paused and said a few moments later, "Sharing feelings is not a competition, you know?"

His brow twitched.

"It feels like you are thinking in terms of either-or. Either it should be your friend or your partner or any other person. It doesn’t work like that."

She slightly scratched her chin. "Okay, I want to understand what you want to say."

Mingshen thought about it and leaned forward. "There is a case which Spicy is working on. There are three people A, B and Z. A is a woman and the rest are men."

"Why is the third person Z and not C?"

"He is your average guy anyway so it makes sense that he is far away from A."

"Even alphabetically?"

"Yes."

Why is she asking the same questions as little chili?

"Huh..." she slightly arched her brow. "Go on."

"So A and B work together and A and Z also work together but are also good friends. A was stressed out and sad about something. So she called Z privately and talked with him."

"I see."

"I want to know why A...couldn’t call B? Is B not trustworthy for her? If yes, why not? If double yes, then what should B do to get A’s trust?"

Yang Bingqing slightly narrowed her eyes with a meaningful smile.

"Let me ask it this way. You are asking what B should do to gain A’s trust? So tell me what has B done till now to make her trust him in the first place?"
