Chapter 241: The She Gathering Arc (11)

Meng Rin wasn’t sure if she was hallucinating or that the room’s darkness was making her exaggerate things, but the sleeping man seemed to be very gifted in the height department. He looked so giant that the whole back part of the room was consumed within his frame.

For perspective her colleagues, Bai Caishen and Dong Haoyu were reasonably tall at 6-1 and 6 feet respectively. Mingshen, who she met in Tianjin, was also 6-1.

But the man standing behind Huo Tengqi was very tall, easily 6-5. It wasn’t an abnormally tall height but considering all the men she ever met in her life, yes, that man was considerably very taller to her by the general standards.

Definitely taller compared to Huo Tengqi who stood at 5-9. It was like he perfectly fit within the man’s bulk. Huo Tengqi felt it too when he turned. He had seen heighted men more in the western part of the world but definitely not in China.

Yet. Now he had.

His height didn’t feel that much of an issue when he was lying on the bed. Standing upright was a whole different story.

And Huo Tengqi didn’t like that feeling because for the first time in his life, somebody’s stature alone was enough to rattle him. It also didn’t help that the sleeping man held a feral gaze that only intensified his threatening bulk.

He gulped down his uncomfortable feelings and stared at him. "So you are awake."

"You kicked the bed," he whispered.

Huo Tengqi blinked. "What? I didn’t hear you."

Meng Rin suddenly felt more afraid than before. But she wasn’t clear if it was her fiance or the sleeping stranger who invoked that extra fear. But she found hope.

"You are finally awake...!"

The man quietly glanced back at her.

"Pl-please, can you tell my fiance that you accidentally m-mistook my room for yours? There is some misunderstanding here..." her voice was at the last stages of desperation.

She couldn’t see his reaction but he frowned. He looked back at Huo Tengqi’s figure and whispered, "You kicked the bed."

"Sorry?" She couldn’t hear him at all.

"You kicked the bed," he said in a slightly raised voice.

Meng Rin was flabbergasted.

What is he talking about...?

Huo Tengqi angrily laughed. Meng Rin was cheating on him and now coupled with his instincts that said to be wary of this man, the situation only irritated him even further.

"So you are just all height and body but your tongue slips when you talk!?"

"I am speaking. Also talk quietly," he said in a low voice.

"I cannot even hear you!"

"You kicked the bed."

"And you fucking slept with my fiance!" He roared.

"Talk quietly."

Huo Tengqi was barely able to make out the words. "You want me to talk quietly after what you have done!?"

"Quietly."

"Shut up! You...you don’t have any idea who I am," Huo Tengqi clenched his jaw. "I will fucking ruin you!"

The sleeping man slowly brought his hands to his ears. "Talk quietly, I said."

"First, you explain yourself! How the hell do you know my Rinrin!?"

"You are very loud," he whispered.

"Where did you meet her!?"

The man pressed his ears harder. "I said to speak softly."

"Answer me!"

"I said to talk quietly."

Meng Rin held his shoulder. "You are really misunderstanding. Please trust me," she broke down. "He was a-already sleeping when I came-"

"FUCK OFF!!!"

Huo Tengqi raised his hand, his palm close to hitting her cheek hard when out of nowhere, he felt a large hand grab his head. Then came a chilly voice coated with all ice.

"Which part of talking quietly did you not understand?"

His question was a soft whisper of his voice but the impact with which he slammed Huo Tengqi’s head on the wall wasn’t the least bit soft.

Meng Rin didn’t quite grasp the situation. She only heard a loud thud against the wall followed by watching Huo Tengqi’s figure collapsing on the floor, unconscious. Then it was all silence.

She stared down at his limp body for several long moments, her eyes wide and mind blank. She then saw the sleeping man taking a step towards her, making her tremble.

But instead of getting the same head-bash-on-the-wall treatment that she grimly expected, the man’s head simply dropped down on her right shoulder. She stood completely still, not taking a single breath.

A minute later she realized that she was strangely out of the danger zone but only to discern the fact that the man was sleeping on her shoulder. She heard the stable sound of his breaths and light snores.

He is...Is he really...sleeping?

The teen climbed up on the stage, standing in front of the leader. His fury was palpable, his resentment burning against the Jia and Mingshen as he thought about them.

"You are a young, healthy man, yet your heart is filled with anger. It’s not good for your health, my boy."

He scoffed. "Tell that to the couple who ruined my mood!"

He shook his head. "A tumultuous heart will only scar you. Yes, the woman was at fault but you should be calm. Good things happen with patient people."

He slightly turned his head and upon that signal, a man with his mask on, entered the podium. He brought a small velvet pillow upon which laid what looked like a gemstone chain.

The leader gently wore it around his neck and then placed his palms on his shoulders.

"Focus on my voice, young one. Let the anger within you drain away, leaving you only with calm and peace. You have no need for rage here, only clarity that comes from understanding your true purpose. May the healing power of this gem dissolve all your negativity."

His voice was like a rhythmic lullaby and the teen’s eyes looked glazed, his furious posture and stiff muscles relaxing a bit. "You are right. I shouldn’t...carry so much hatred in my heart."

Everybody gasped at the marvel of his magic and words. The only ones who weren’t so thrilled were Jia and Mingshen.

Jia glanced at Mingshen and asked, "What is happening here?"
