Chapter 179: That smile for a special someone

The drama crew held a small get together the night before the day of the departure. Dong Haoyu’s involvement quickly spread to the rest of the crew too and some were still in disbelief that he could go to such lengths to kill Wan Guanting.

Zeng Shan, the makeup artist, was openly keeping her distance from him while the rest, though shaken, were not avoiding him to that extent. Guo Juan was simply happy to see Chow Mey look happy.

Though it was difficult to bring a sudden change, she was now slowly becoming a little more open in expressing herself to Dong Haoyu. Chow Mey looked around and asked Meng Rin. "...Caishen is not here yet?"

Meng Rin, who was fiddling with her phone, attempted to smile. "I think he will be coming down in some time."

A while later when Bai Caishen finally arrived, Chow Mey rose to her feet and asked for some private time. His dark eyes squinted at her and at first, she thought that he would definitely reject her.

Surprisingly, he agreed, though with a cold undertone.

Jia, who had also arrived at the get-together on their invitation, noticed Bai Caishen and Chow Mey having a serious conversation at the balcony outside. From their expressions, Chow Mey seemed to be guilty of something as her gaze was lowered the entire time.

Bai Caishen looked visibly cold as if he would freeze this entire hotel into nothingness.

Jia’s gaze fell on Ke Yufei, who was throwing occasional and worried glances at them, particularly at Bai Caishen. She walked over to him with her cane.

"Hey."

Ke Yufei turned. "Hi."

As usual, he was busy cleaning his camera lens.

"Bai Caishen doesn’t seem to be in a good mood."

"Nobody is."

"He looks extra bitter."

She is drunk, Ke Yufei surmised.

"Why do you always r-run away from me? I...I like you..." she whispered, tracing her finger against his bare chest that made him shudder.

Bai Caishen could have thrown her off but even in that situation, he wanted to be respectful towards her and also expected her to respectfully back off. But his rejections only made her act more aggressive.

"Why...?" Tears brimmed her eyes. "Just give us one chance, will you? I just want to...es...O-or is it because you like somebody else?"

"That’s none of your business, Chow Mey! Just get off me!"

Chow Mey drunkenly chuckled. "Well...in that case, I will make you forget her *hiccup*"

She leaned and forcefully kissed him on his lips, widening his eyes. His mind blanked out and he couldn’t understand what was happening. Her lips were pressing further and disgust filled his heart. He felt her pressing her breasts against his chest, but he felt too paralyzed to push her away.

Chow Mey shuddered to her very bones. Those pictures would be the death of her and she immediately fled away before Ke Yufei took any drastic step.

Ke Yufei sneered and then walked over to Bai Caishen’s side, who gave him a blank look.

"You can choose to pursue a police case if you want but even if you don’t, you can help rest assured. She won’t pull this dirty stunt again till I have these pictures with me and I will make a lot of backups so be double rest assured."

*Flashback ends*

Jia was unable to contain her shock the whole time. Now it became crystal clear as to why her head hung low as she talked to Bai Caishen and why he oozed out such a dangerous aura.

It was unforgivable.

"But why...she would?"

Jia thought that she understood Chow Mey but she didn’t. Why would she go to this extent to get Bai Caishen?

Wasn’t she acting just like Wan Guanting then?

Or did Wan Guanting’s physical abuse distort and mess up her own mind so badly that she lost her sense of right and wrong?

Jia’s daze broke when she saw Bai Caishen coming out. But the atmosphere was still dark and edgy. It was clear that whatever forgiveness Chow Mey might have been asking for, she didn’t get it.

To her surprise, Ke Yufei suddenly lifted his camera and clicked Bai Caishen’s picture.

Why did he click a picture now? That too when he is in a bad mood?

Bai Caishen had noticed him clicking his picture and his lips curved into a beautiful smile. He tilted his head, posing for another picture very naturally. It was as if the bad mood from before was all an illusion.

Jia stared at that gentle and warm smile which felt very familiar to her. It was then she realized that Bai Caishen always smiled the same way in his scenes. She had watched the drama with Yang Bingqing in the Yang mansion and she remembered his expressions.

But now there wasn’t any shooting going on. Yet that smile shone as bright and genuine and loving as ever.

Bai Caishen was known for his enigmatic smile that made millions of hearts squeal as he would stare right at the audience.

He wasn’t smiling at the audience at all...

Jia’s eyes slowly widened with realization.

He wasn’t looking at the camera. He was so lovingly looking at the person shooting him from behind the camera.

He was smiling for Ke Yufei all this time.
