The hotel’s management started taking swift steps to catch Dong Haoyu who was armed with a gun. They strictly ordered all the guests to not take a step outside of their rooms for their own safety until the threat was curbed.

The lift opened on the twelfth floor with a chime and the security chief held the group back.

"Please wait here, Mam."

The security chief with his team covered up the entire corridor and left no place to escape. The chief stood in front of Dong Haoyu’s room and banged his palm on the door.

"Mr. Dong. Please open the door. We advise you to discard your weapon and peacefully surrender yourself or else we will barge inside!"

There was absolutely no response from inside, making Jia’s heartbeat quicken in trepidation.

Some of the officers quickly surrounded Dong Haoyu while Jia and the others headed inside. Immediately, their sight fell upon a young man whose back faced them. He held the left side of his waist as he weakly gasped for air.

Jia’s eyes widened as she stared at the man with utter shock. Bojing tremblingly peeked his head, trying to look for any injured person. His soul flew out of his body the moment his gaze fell on the man.

Bojing dashed towards him and turned his body. He noticed a small wound on his waist with blood pooling on his shirt. Upon checking, he found out that he narrowly missed the bullet.

"Se-Senior Lu..." Shilin slightly gasped for air.

"H-How are you here!? Wh-Why did you get s-shot! B-Booossss!!"

Mingshen lazily stepped in, yawning with incredible boredom. "Why are you crying so much?"

"Boss! Shilin! Shilin is hurt!"

"Huh?"

Mingshen craned his neck and the smile from his lips immediately disappeared. He kneeled on his side and checked his wound.

"It’s barely a miss. He doesn’t need to get hospitalized. It just needs some cleaning and dressing. Bring a first-aid box here."

"Yes, sir!"

Bojing tearfully glared at Dong Haoyu. He stomped his way towards him and grabbed his collar.

"Wh-Why would you do that! Shilin is not your enemy then why would you s-shoot him!? How could you!"

Mingshen didn’t care about the conversation for now. He was fully focused on covering his wound and stopping it from bleeding.

Shilin said with his brows knitting in a painful discomfort, "I am fine...Senior Lu."

The general manager and his team gasped in shock.

Everybody was left bewildered by this claim. Jia blinked. "Yours? What does that even mean?"

A callous smile shone on his beautiful lips. "Shilin works under me and nobody gets to touch my staff, forget trying to kill them. If anybody targets somebody from the Yang family or from my underworld, then the underworld deals with the culprit, not the police. That’s the contract between us and the law."

Her eyes stretched wide.

The contract clause rang bells in her mind.

"I don’t care if he killed that oldie director. But he shot a bullet at my assistant. I won’t forgive him for this or hand him over to the cops," he sneered. "As of this moment, that lover boy’s fate lies with the underworld so you cops. Back off."
