Mingshen arched his brow. "Hooo? So a mystery within a mystery?"

"It wasn’t a mystery within a mystery. Two things were always parallely going on. Two people were targeting Wan Guanting’s life at the same time."

Mingshen walked over with his hands in his coat’s pockets as he smiled. "Not a surprise really. Trash people are usually hated by many~"

She said nothing.

"Who is this second person you are talking about?"

Jia whispered after a long time. "Dong Haoyu."

He blinked.

She faintly smiled. "Chow Mey might not return his feelings but I sensed today after talking to her that she does care about him. That’s why when I asked if she saw somebody messing with Director Wan’s drink, she lied to me."

"How do you know that?"

"I must admit she is an excellent actress. She was in a pinch when I asked that question, but she replied by quickly looking away as if she was feeling tired. It was only for a fraction of a second but her eyes flashed with some emotion and she was trying to hide her reaction."

She unlocked her phone and opened the photos that Ke Yufei had sent her.

"You see here? Dong Haoyu was often beside Chow Mey during the party. At one point, Wan Guanting’s glass was also at the table where they sat. I believe Dong Haoyu mixed in the sleeping pills while nobody was watching. But perhaps Chow Mey did or caught a glance of it. So she lied and that’s when my suspicion fell on Dong Haoyu."

Jia kept her phone back and continued. "You know we always focused on the footage of Chow Mey going into Wan Guanting’s room, but not the part of when she left her own room to head to Wing B."

"What did you find?"

"When she headed out of her room, she had first knocked on Dong Haoyu’s room. His room was just beside hers."

He shrugged. "So? What does that prove?"

"It proves that Chow Mey probably couldn’t let go of what she saw. It bothered her. So she wanted to talk to Dong Haoyu about it and confirm that she was wrong. Finally she stepped out around 3.05 AM and knocked on his door. But he didn’t come out. How would he come out when he was making his way towards Wan Guanting’s room to kill him?"

Mingshen furrowed his brows. "His room is in Wing A and he didn’t come to this oldie’s room through the door so-"

He stopped as he figured it out himself.

"So the only option remaining is to come through the balcony," she smiled. "I was wrong. Xin Manchu didn’t use the balcony. Dong Haoyu did. And it makes sense too."

Mingshen had felt it odd before too which he now expressed. "If that Xin guy mixed in the cold medicine knowing that the oldie had hypertension problem, he knew that the latter would suffer from a cardiac arrest sooner or later. As such, there wasn’t any need for him to go through such trouble of climbing the balcony to kill him again or even check to assure himself that he actually died. Too much risk. Worst case if he didn’t die, he would simply make another plan to kill him later."

She somberly nodded. "Indeed. My suspicions fell on Xin Manchu. He also got the cold medicine and his guilt got confirmed too. But then what about the sleeping pills? Who put that in? I never got an answer to that."

"But how did that lover boy come here anyway? His room is in Wing A," he pointed across the swimming pool towards the other building.

"Through his own balcony."

Mingshen narrowed his eyes. "I don’t think a person can walk on air, my dear or fly for that matter."

"But he can surely use a cable. This dent in the railing is because of the cable that Dong Haoyu used. Xin Manchu never used one because he was never in this room."

He took a glance at Dong Haoyu’s room in Wing A that was just opposite Wan Guanting’s room in Wing B. The distance was around 50 meters away. Then he looked at the massive swimming pool twelve floors down.

"You think he walked on a cable from his balcony to this? Isn’t it too incredible? Is he a superman?"

She shook her head. "Not a superman. But a stuntman."

He stared at her.

"Bai Caishen told us when he was introducing everybody to us for the first time."

’Dong Haoyu the lead hero aka dancer aka all rounder. He proudly does his own stunts.’

Mingshen remembered it.

Jia continued. "It’s impossible for an average man but Dong Haoyu is far from average. How difficult would it be for a man who does his own stunts and is used to doing dangerous scenes to be pulling this off?"

"...Not very difficult I assume."

"Exactly. He came well-prepared. He hid the cable inside his thick jacket and jammed one side of it to the railing when everybody was busy at the party. Naturally, he made sure to close the curtains and door because he had to throw the other end of the cable in his own room’s balcony."

"He was able to throw that far?"

"If he could walk on the cable then what is impossible for him? He might have practiced his throw and the walk countless times before executing his plan for real."

"Point taken."

"He then mixed in the sleeping pills. When the party ended, he headed to his room and secured the other end of the cable’s lock to his own balcony’s railing. With that, he made a bridge connecting his room to Wan Guanting’s."

"And he walked all the way balancing himself on the cable here?"

She nodded. "Yes. This also matches with one statement that Meng Rin had said. She was drunk when she came out to her balcony for fresh air. Her room is on the fourteenth floor so when she was casually looking down, she felt as if somebody was walking on the swimming pool’s water, which she thought was weird.

But she was mistaken. Dong Haoyu was walking on the cable in the middle of nowhere and because she was drunk, the pool below and his figure probably coincided with each other in her daze, and so she thought that somebody was walking on the water."
