"Because many things don’t make sense, Mr. Xin," Jia plainly stated. "Both sleeping medicine and cold medicine was found in Wan Guanting’s drink."

"So? Chow Mey could have done that," he scoffed. "Isn’t it pretty obvious?"

But the hair on his back stood upright when Bai Caishen threatened him with a smile. "Plotting against my fellow actor like that...I will squeeze out some hush hush compensation for that."

He shot back a dry look.

Jia continued. "Zeng Shan’s room is right below Wan Guanting’s room. You were in her room in the early hours of that morning, right?"

He stiffened.

"You cannot lie anyway. The camera has caught you going into her room."

He then shrugged. "Yeah so what?"

"It means that you had easy access to come to his room simply by climbing through the balcony. You didn’t bother getting a neighbor room like Ke Yufei’s because going sideways was trickier. The space between two rooms is wide so it makes coming horizontally sideways a lot more challenging than going up and down."

His eyes widened.

Juan asked, gasping in disbelief. "Why would anybody do that?"

"Because a killer wouldn’t want to get himself caught in the cameras if he just got up and went through the corridor. That’s what was wrong in the whole situation. If Miss. Chow pre planned the murder, then she wouldn’t be so stupid in going just like that and incriminate herself."

Meng Rin clenched her fist. Her eyes shone with a strange hope. "S-so she is innocent."

"Yes. No matter how you think about it, her guilt doesn’t make sense if she left his room at 4.08 AM. Wan Guanting was already asleep when she entered his room. "Your cufflinks made a similar sound quite a number of times during the dinner when I was there. And I strongly believe that it was this very same sound that Bai Caishen heard that night when they clicked against the balcony railing."

He watched her wide-eyed. "This...this is utter nonsense! You are just mindlessly throwing accusations at me! None of your claims make any sense! How can I just climb a balcony like that?" His gaze darkened. "I don’t have freaking superpowers!"

She smiled. "You don’t need superpowers, Xin Manchu. You just need a cable."

"What?"

They were already in Wan Guanting’s room so Jia limped towards the balcony and pointed at the center of the railing. "There is a small semi-circular dent formed here. Some of the paint is also scrapped. I had asked the staff attending this side of the rooms and she said that this wasn’t the case before. So my conjecture is that something was pinned or locked here that caused it."

Ke Yufei curiously took a closer look. "And you feel that a cable was hanging from here."

"Precisely."

Xin Manchu exclaimed. "What rubbish! This is Director Wan’s room, not mine that I can conveniently just hook one side of the cable to his balcony!"

"You did that during the in-room celebration time. You probably hid the thin cable inside your jacket and at your backside partly stuffed inside your pants. There was no place else because nobody came with any sort of purse or bags to hide it. Then during the celebration and confusion, you sneaked in the balcony and hooked one side of it to the railing. It fell down towards Zeng Shan’s room," she pointed below.

She walked back and looked into his eyes. "Then when the party was over and Wan Guanting had passed out, you made sure that the balcony door was unlocked only so that you won’t have any problems intruding in the room later on."
