The Devil Doctor's Spicy Love
Chapter 151: Numb and painless

Chapter 151: Numb and painless

Jia’s blank gaze met Mingshen’s playful eyes. "What are you doing here again?"

"The question should be what are you doing having a sneaky dip in the water?"

"What?"

Even more perplexed than before, Jia looked around and found Mingshen’s hand firmly gripping onto her arm. Her eyes stretched wide seeing her clothes all wet till her waist line.

Wasn’t I standing at the shore?

The people on the beach, too, were visibly gasping in shock as if some horror scene was unfolding before them. They were all staring at Jia and murmuring among themselves in hushed whispers.

Jia craned her neck and was taken aback to see that she was actually quite farther from the shoreline. Mingshen, too, was soaked by the salty water. He still held onto her arm, clearly seeing her unstable on her feet. Amidst the crashing waves at them, only he remained standing firm and strong.

She lowered her gaze thoughtfully and then looked up at him.

"You didn’t have to grab my arm like that."

"And let my research subject drown?" He smiled.

"Why would I want to drown myself? I was just going a little farther inside to enjoy the water."

His eyes narrowed. "You see Spicy. To me and the hundreds of people here on the beach right now, it didn’t look like you were having a casual stroll in the water. I don’t think you even realized that you were walking."

She grimaced. "That’s ridiculous. It’s daytime and I am not drunk. I know what I was doing."

He raised his brow. "Then why did you look so confused?"

"Because you grabbed my hand out of nowhere."

"No. Why did you look so confused staring at the shoreline as if that’s where you were originally supposed to be? Why were you puzzled seeing yourself half-soaked?"

Jia frowned. "...You are reading too much into my expressions."

"Because there is too much to read into your expressions. You weren’t properly using your crutch, yet you didn’t seem to be in pain at all. It was as if you became numb to your surroundings," his eyes twinkled in amusement.

Her brow twitched, irked and she shook off his hand from her arm. He smiled, unoffended. "That’s not how you are supposed to treat your savior."

"I didn’t need one anyway."

Jia turned and it was then that the pain hit her. Her knee throbbed because of the assault and the chilliness from the wind decided to torture her at the same time. With her clothes now wet, she shuddered as the cold air blasted at her.

Mingshen smiled. "On Dr. Long’s behalf, thank you for throwing away today’s session into trash."

Her expression soured. "I was being careful!"

"At this point, I wonder if you secretly wish for a bedridden life~"

He didn’t say a word more and bent down. He picked her up in his arms before she could even react.

"What...What are you doing!?"

"Stopping anymore suicidal acts that will kill your knee. You can thank me later~"

With the sunlight kissing his deadly gorgeous face, he walked through the water, his beauty shining by a hundred folds. His wet shirt had become a see through to drool at his chiseled chest. Jia could see women dropping unconscious on the sand left and right like a bunch of falling dominoes.

"You...I am fine. I can walk by myself!"

Her words fell on deaf ears. Mingshen didn’t bother to respond and took her straight to a nearby small hotel near the beach.

The receptionist at the desk stared at them dumbfounded. "S-Sir?"

"We need a room right now."

"..."

Horror struck Jia’s face.

Don’t say it in such a misleading way!

"She is wet and cranky and in tons of pain she brought it upon herself. So get a key and show me the way to the room."

"But we are f-full Sir-"

"We. Need. A. Room. Right. Now," his black irises squinted dangerously.

Which was enough to get her on her feet because deep in her heart, the receptionist’s instincts played spot on.

Don’t mess with the man standing before her right now.

Jia’s jaw dropped. "You are threatening a civilian right in front of a cop!"

He smiled down at her. "It makes things happen so much faster~"

The receptionist talked to the manager, but he simply ignored her and told her to shoo them off.

"Don’t waste my time with this nonsense. Throw them out."

But only she understood how precarious that devil was whose cold words buzzed in her ears. She ran around the whole hotel and somehow cleared out one of the empty guest rooms which was thankfully not in use. She breathlessly let them in.

"Please head in..."

"Some new clothes will also be appreciated," he smiled. "And the medicines that I will be listing out."

"Yes, Sir!"

He looked down at Jia again. "That wasn’t so tough, was it?"

She glowered. "You are blatantly threatening her!"

Mingshen finally placed her on the bed and went into the bathroom to get changed first. He then mischievously grinned at her. "Should I help you the way I did that night? Actually, it feels exactly like that night except that we are wet and it’s bright sunshine outside~"

"No! I will change myself. And this time, I have the receptionist to help me out. Leave the room!"

No way I will let him help me with the panties again!

"Tch," he clicked his tongue and headed out.

Fifteen minutes later, the receptionist came out and tremblingly said, "M-Mam is all ready now."

"The things that I asked for?"

"H-Here they are!" She quickly handed him a bag with all the items he wanted.

He peered inside and was satisfied. He took out his card and handed it to her. "Whatever is the bill for accommodating my last minute order, charge it a hundred times."

"S-sorry?" She gave him a blank look.

"Did you not understand it the first time I said it?"

"H-Hu-Hundred times?"

"Seeee~ so you did get it. Do the math which is fairly easy to just add two zeros at the end. That is my payment for only your service."

Her eyes popped out of her sockets.

M-My payment...

"All of it is my m-money?"

"Then whose will it be? I am very generous in rewarding deserving people. And equally generous in robbing undeserving ones~ Tell your manager that he will have to credit 100x amount in my account by tomorrow’s end or I will hunt him down till I get it. So technically he is paying you, not me~"

Her fingers went cold as did the math or at least tried to.

O-one day stay here co-costs 1500 Yuan s-so 1500 times 100 is...

She felt dizzy calculating the number. The receptionist stared at the shiny platinum card.

I-I have never seen this much money in my life before!

Mingshen didn’t bother anymore and stepped back in the room. He saw Jia gently massaging her knee but she stopped as she felt his presence.

"So Spicyyyyy~" he casually sat back on a chair as if he had all the time on his hands.

"What’s cooking in your mind?"
