Chapter 126: Where is my instant coffee? Where is my cheese?
Jia yawned as she limped out of her bedroom the next morning. Her brows furrowed with frustration with the pain in her knee. She wasn’t used to walking so slowly.
In the kitchen, she opened the overhead cupboards to fetch coffee but an altogether different sight greeted her. Her instant coffee was nowhere to be found. Instead, dozens and dozens of fancy glass bottles lay neatly on the shelf.
She took one of the small glass jars outside and uncorked it. Her nose twitched with a fragrance she had never smelled before. She had no doubt about it now.
It was pure, grounded coffee made with exquisite coffee beans. The type of coffee for which Mingshen had messed her house upside down last night.
What is this coffee doing on my shelves? Where is my instant coffee?
She looked around and soon found all the instant coffee packets in the trash.
"What the hell!?" She gasped in utter shock. "He threw away all my coffee!"
She looked back at the exquisite shimmering glass jars that screamed of richness, elegance and money. Her gaze darkened. She had an urge to throw those jars away.
She hung her head defeated the next moment.
My heart won’t be able to bear throwing such expensive stuff away...
She dragged her feet to make herself a cup of coffee albeit grudgingly. Even though Mingshen’s choice of coffee might taste heavenly, she still missed her instant coffee.
As hot steam wafted from her cup of freshly brewed coffee, she walked to the refrigerator next to grab a sandwich for a quick breakfast. But to her horror, her fridge didn’t look the same either.
"All my stuff...where is it...?" She stumbled back, terrified. "Where is all the cheese!"
She searched every nook and cranny of her fridge but couldn’t find even a single cube of cheese anywhere. Not just that, her cheese sandwiches, some leftover cheesecake and packets of cheese popcorn had mysteriously disappeared too.
Her eyes watered with immense sorrow.
I was robbed last night...My precious treasure...
Jia’s body trembled with rage.
Yang Mingshen...
Anything...I can forgive anything but you shouldn’t have come in between me and my cheese!
I will make you pay for this, the bones in her fingers cracked with violence.
*Ding Dong*
The sound of the doorbell snapped her out from her fury though traces of heavy resentment still remained. She made her way across the living room walking like a zombie.
Mrs. Zhang worriedly barged in as soon as Jia opened the door. "Jia! I heard about your injury. Oh dear, are you alright?"
Jia looked blank. "I am devastated."
Mrs. Zhang looked at her unstable knee and the crutch she held. Her heart went out for her. "I am so sorry I couldn’t be there for you last night, dear. I could have nursed you and made dinner for you."
She shook her head in lament. "Only if we didn’t have to go out of town. I heard the lights were also out for some time. How did you manage by yourself in this state?"
"Somebody forcibly took the management of my house last night..." tears rimmed her eyes. "All my cheese..."
Mrs. Zhang frowned. "I don’t understand what you are babbling. But tell me first how did this happen?"
"All my precious cheese..."
"Song Jia!"
She was jolted wide awake now.
"I am asking how you got injured? Get out of your cheesy thoughts and tell me."
Jia cleared her throat with her stern voice. "There was some skirmish with some goons yesterday as Lim and I went to rescue a hostage."
As her thoughts went back to Zhang Luqi, her gaze dimmed. Her heart ached to see her lying on a hospital bed in a coma.
"I see," Mrs. Zhang nodded. "I am glad it wasn’t anything more serious-"
The doorbell rang once again, making Jia let out a sigh.
Who is it now so early in the morning?
A delivery guy greeted her with a smile. "Your delivery, Mam."
"Ah?" Jia scratched her head. "But I didn’t order anything."
"The address is of here’s by the name of Song Jia."
"That is me though..."
Nevertheless, she took the box and he left. Knitting her brows in confusion, she placed the box on the couch and started taking off the tapes.
"What did you order?" Mrs. Zhang, who loved shopping, peeked at the box like a curious cat.
She said, taking the cover off. "The buyer doesn’t know herself-"
The sight before her froze her hard. Not just her but Mrs. Zhang too.
They stared at the items inside the box unblinkingly, holding their breaths. Mrs. Zhang found a note inside and slowly reached out her hand to read it.
A fresh stock for your future happy relationship~
Your well-wisher,
Dr. Yang Mingshen.
Jia refused to look at Mrs. Zhang’ side. Instead, she stared hard at the stock of new and branded panties inside the cardboard box.
Mrs. Zhang placed her trembling hand on her chest, gasping hard for her breath. "H-H-How...I-I mean...Wh-why is Yang Mingshen sending you p-panties?"
Jia shut her eyes.
Mrs. Zhang swallowed her saliva. "Was Yang Mingshen here last night?" Her eyes then widened, horrified. "No...did he manage to seduce you last night?"
Jia couldn’t find her voice to answer. "It’s not like that-"
"What next? Will I soon hear the cry of a baby coming from this house?"
Jia wished the universe could swallow her at that moment.
"When did things go so far between you two?" Mrs. Zhang inhaled uneasily. "I-I didn’t know you had such...h-heavy tastes in men..."
She could see her well established reputation go down the drain in a single second. Her lips struggled to form a smile. "Mrs. Zhang, trust me. It’s not like what you see here."
She looked at her, stupefied. "The great Yang Mingshen, who has declared himself as such, sent such an intimate gift as panties to you. What else would it mean?"
She tried to laugh it off while her eyes shone with menace. "He is just messing with me. Don’t worry, Aunt. Today will be his last day on this planet."
