Chapter 99: When your boyfriend lived just a minute away

It was just a few days...I knew it was just a few days, but I felt excited beyond measure. And it wasn’t even because of the teleportation portal--the staple fantasy setting that I had never tried before.

It was because I remembered what Natha said; that we would be able to meet when the portal was done.

As I impatiently waited for the elevator door to open, I could feel the vibration of the mana from the elemental birds that supplied the portal’s energy. Yep--rather than using expensive mana crystal as fuel, the portal would use the elemental birds’ magic energy. Very cost-effective, I must say.

This smooth whirring sound meant the workers had started to activate the portal, and I couldn’t stop fidgeting. Was this how it would feel to go to your lover’s home?

I mean...yes, I knew I was already in his home, but...it just felt different, you know? Most often, Natha would suddenly appear behind me, beside me, in front of me--just so suddenly popping out from thin air. But now, it was like I purposefully walked to his door, and it just felt...like we were about to go on a date. This thumping of the heart, this flustered feeling, these fingers that couldn’t stop fidgeting...

It was only a few floors up, but the elevator seemed to take forever. I knew Angwi was watching me in intrigue, and Jade had been giving me an unamused side-eye, but I could care less. The moment the elevator door pinged open, I almost stumbled from the over-excitement.

And it was as well that the portal was swirling, glowing with iridescent light, showing me a tear in dimensional space at the same time as I stepped out. I could see a black boot stepping into the platform from the other side, and then the whole body. The moment those gorgeous horns crossed over, I held my breath until I could see the entirety of his figure.

Natha stopped in front of the portal, looking over the whole platform and device. He moved his hands, clenching and unclenching his fists as if testing for side effects, before nodding in satisfaction. At last, the silver eyes trained on me, who was stupidly frozen below the platform.

"Do I get a welcoming hug?" he tilted his head, smiling charmingly with resplendent light from the glowing portal shining around him majestically, arms stretched on both sides.

I took a deep breath and stepped forward, only to have someone grab me from the back and tackled me from the front, restraining me and preventing my body to come closer.

"No!" I heard Zia’s voice behind my ear and Jade’s aggressive chirping from my chest. "You’re not taking him back! He’s only here for a few days!"

I glanced at the protesting succubus on my shoulder. This reminded me of the scene a few days ago, when I just got back. Hmm...this was nice and all, but why were you whining when you were locking yourself in your room and neglecting me today, Miss Zidoa?

"Hoo..." the Demon Lord, who was usually pretty cordial, suddenly spoke in a low voice and a low tone as he stepped down menacingly from the platform. The demons in charge of building the portal and the golem servants flinched and scurried away to the corner of the room. "The two of you dare to tell me, the owner of this place, what to do?"

I could hear Zia’s quiet shriek and her grip on my shoulder got even tighter. At this point, this succubus was using me as a shield to face the Lord’s wrath. Jade, perhaps because of its young age, still let out a rebellious chirping. But upon looking at the coldness emanating from the pair of silver orbs, the little bird slipped inside my coat to hide--only its green head peeking out behind my lapel could be seen.

"What are you going to do if I want to take him away, huh?" the Demon Lord continued, smiling coldly. "Can you even do anything against me?"

"V-Val..." the girl started to stutter too--so much for the earlier bravado. "Val will hate you if you do anything to--eeek!! I’m sorry, I’m sorry!"

The moment Zia mentioned the word ’hate’, the silver eyes twitched and the air became colder for real. Haa...what was this...

"Alright, let’s stop," I sighed, pulling the succubus long ear and pinched Jade’s chubby cheek until they squealed, before staring at Natha. "You shouldn’t bully kids, my Lord."

Natha smirked then, and the cold air vanished like a lie. I knew he was just teasing them at the start, but it honestly turned out rather dangerous with Zia’s words earlier. Natha almost got pissed for real there. Fortunately, we managed to avoid a blizzard.

"Well, they bully me first," Natha replied shamelessly, even making a fake sulking face and crossing his arms in defiance. Perhaps because of that, Jade braved itself to come out of my coat and Zia peeked out from behind my head again.

"You two need to calm down too," I let out a sigh. Jade was one thing, since the guy was basically a few months old baby. But I thought I was supposed to be the youngest here after that? Why did these demons act like kids now. "He’s not coming here to take me away. He wouldn’t come in his casual outfit otherwise."

Natha’s smile grew wider then, and he stopped pretending to be sulky. I knew him enough now--if he was going to take me to the Castle during the day like this, he would have come in his formal clothes, that black outfit he wore for work.

"And the whole point of building this portal is so I can go back and forth easily, so stop being like this!" I pursed my lips and put my hands on my hips, staring at the three creatures in annoyance.

"...fine," Zia clicked her tongue, before letting go of me and stepping back with twisted lips. Jade was flying away from my coat, but still grabbing strands of my hair in its beak.

"So many desires my sweetheart," Natha chuckled before brushing my slightly messy hair, silver eyes gleaming in twinkling delight as he whispered affectionately. "But he’s mine."

Damn, this Demon Lord. You sure you weren’t an incubus?

* * *

To humor Zia and Jade, Natha gave up on monopolizing me, and we ended up having a big afternoon tea to celebrate the completion of the portal. And then, afterward, an even bigger dinner.

"They treat me like I’m some kind of kidnapper," Natha shook his head as we finally, finally alone in the bedroom, throwing himself to the bed with a grunt.

I laughed for a bit at his exasperated reaction. To be honest, it was nice seeing him getting annoyed at the two kids’ antics. Knowing that he couldn’t act angry for real in front of me, they became quite brazen after that, obstructing him from touching me, or never letting me be alone with him. Natha had to cast a barrier on the bedroom door to prevent Jade from intruding in the end.

"But you did kidnap me," I replied teasingly, and he narrowed his eyes as I laughed again.

"Well, that’s true," he smirked in the end, shrugging as he raised his body to lean back against the headboard. I even detected a hint of pride in his voice. He looked at me with a smile, and once again stretched out his hands. "So, about that delayed welcome hug?"

He tilted his head, looking so nice and charming, and I responded by climbing into his lap, a streak of blooming red upon my cheeks. Even without him asking, I would have done that.

God, I missed him. His scent and his cold touch. Remembering the reason behind that comfortable coldness brought warmth inside my heart, and rather than a hug, I gave him a kiss. His lips too, were cold. But they were also sweet like mint candy. It still felt fascinating how his cold touch made my body feel hot instead.

"Did you miss me?" he whispered against my lips, hands shedding off my coat.

His fingers, which proceeded to slip beneath my tunic, caressed my bare skin and made me shudder. It was a different kind of shiver from feeling cold because of the low temperature, since this one was also accompanied by a tingling sensation all over my spine and deep inside my abdomen.

"Mm," I mumbled in affirmation, and his stretched lips were clear upon my cheek.

"Good, I wasn’t the only one then," he pressed his lips along my jaw, whispering sweetly, as his hands traced my shivering spine.

Ahh...there was something about lust; you really couldn’t taste it just once. You became greedy for more after that sweet sweet taste of pleasure. I couldn’t believe that this soul and body that had never tasted the touch of others before, seemed like it couldn’t get enough of his touch now. I felt like I became a pervert, or was this Demon Lord made me into one?

How strange, since I still couldn’t bring myself to go all the way, to let him penetrate me...there...with his...not fingers.

You know what; I couldn’t even spell it outright.

"Are we going to..." I whispered breathlessly, feeling his fingers caressing places on my back that I didn’t even know could generate pleasure.

"If you allow me to," he replied with a tender smile, like a gentleman. Although the low growl beneath his voice couldn’t mask that blazing desire in his eyes.

My Demon Lord; patiently waiting, impatiently seducing. I gave him a light peck, and wriggled slightly inside his embrace, before pausing. "But we have a guest, my Lord."

With an annoyed sigh, Natha clicked his tongue. "I know," he turned his head toward the balcony door. "I was hoping you haven’t realized it."

"But I feel bad letting him wait outside. He seems confused about what to do," I laughed quietly, and Natha let out another sigh before snapping his fingers so the balcony door slammed open.

Just in time to show a pale, trembling Heraz crouching there.
