Chapter 482: You need to prepare a lot of things before conceiving

"I’ve written to Aunty and Grandma," I told Natha when I came to his office before lunch, a day after we returned from the Human Realm.

"Thank you, sweetheart."

"You know what?" I went around his office desk and propped myself on his lap. "They said they prepared a house for us."

Natha raised his brow, holding my waist and pulling me to settle better on his lap. I fiddled with the green pendant while giggling.

"They said it’s our wedding present," I explained. "Amarein said a wedded couple should have their own place instead of staying with relatives. Also, we need a place in case I couldn’t move for a while."

"That’s nice of them," Natha leaned back and hummed in contemplation. "I’ll ask my guy in the elvendom to send gifts, enough to cover the building fees."

"Thank you!" I grinned and gave him an appreciation peck. I was glad he started to see them as his family now that we were married. Perhaps because he knew the druid wouldn’t try to take me and keep me there anymore. "When should we go? The twenty-second?"

"Hmm..." Natha closed his eyes and tapped his fingers on my waist. "No, let’s make sure we arrive at the settlement the day before."

"Oh, you’re fine with that?" I asked in surprise. "It’s fine even if we go on the same day since Vrida already knows the lake’s location."

"I want you to have enough rest first," he pinched my cheek gently. "Don’t worry about my work, mm? I work for you after all, for this. I could just stop being the Lord if you ask me to."

Oh, the way he flirts!

"Sush, don’t tempt me!" I pinched the side of his stomach, to which he only responded with kisses on my cheeks.

And I said that because I knew he would really do it if I asked him, and it scared me. What if I got too emotional one day, getting sulky and shit, and told him to quit being a Lord in a spur of a momentary tantrum? I might wake up with the news that he was summoning the Elder Council to announce his abdication.

Really...it was so scary to have power over someone this powerful.

"That position of yours is still useful," I told him. "At least until Shwa is born."

"If my sweetheart says so."

I knocked his head and slid off his lap. "Shall we have lunch now? You said you’re going to fatten me up."

He laughed and held my hand as we went to our ritual greenhouse luncheon. On the way, we met a sulking Eruha who had just been dumped by his Eternal for a business luncheon, so we took him to the greenhouse too.

Not because we pity him, but because Natha had a task for him. In fact, we ended up calling Malta too for it.

"We need a place, a secure one," Natha told them before the meal was even served.

"How secure?"

"Like the end of the world depends on it," Natha said in a serious, no-nonsense tone.

And even though it sounded like a hyperbole, it was the truth.

"It needs to have a good source of mana, with layers of security, and a comfortable residence built around it."

Eruha and Malta looked at each other, trying to guess what kind of treasure we were trying to hide. "What exactly are you going to put inside, my Liege?"

"My child," he said nonchalantly, almost making Mara drop my plate in surprise.

Eruha and Malta looked at me, and I was savoring the show of emotion in their usually expressionless face. "He didn’t mean the baby," I explained. "But we need a place for the fetus."

Apparently, my explanation only made the listener more confused. Eruha stroked his chin and narrowed his eyes to think while the servants finished placing the plates in front of us. "Ah," he exclaimed softly. "Does the dryad put the sprout in a soil?"

"Uh-huh, it’s most likely going to be a flower," I nodded. "We need fertile soil with good mana all around. A flat land too, where I can draw a druid formation."

Naturally, dryad left the sprouts where they were until they gave birth to the next generation, but honestly...it was impossible for us to do it. I couldn’t just live at that lake for months--or even years, since...who knew how long it would take for a vessel of a Primordial God to get ready?

If mana was our only concern, I would just opt to live in the druid settlement, which certainly had more abundant mana and a suitable environment for the sprout to grow healthily. However, Natha was concerned about the safety matter.

Sure, the druid settlement was hidden well with illusion barriers and stuff, but...

I couldn’t pretend to forget that the druid had experienced a breach of safety less than a century ago.

But it was also impossible for Natha to put a bunch of demons in the settlement just for security. It was also impossible for him to go back and forth between the demon realm and the druid settlement since his teleport wouldn’t work anyway.

And so, after discussing it during our bedtime talk, we concluded that we needed to try and find a place in L’Anaak Eed.

"In that case...wouldn’t the Lair be better, my Liege?"

"No, it’s too close to the border," Eruha tapped on his lips. "And if you want to emulate the realm of nature as much as possible, it needs to be somewhere close to water. But the river in the Lair connected to the outside."

"Exactly," Natha pointed at the sibling-in-laws with his fork. "Find me a place in the Castle and construct the place within three weeks."

What an unreasonable Lord...

"Here, then?" Eruha looked around the greenhouse, and Malta turned her head to look in the direction of the pier.

"Across?" she pointed to the lakeside forest that we could see from the patio door. "We can build a bridge across, or should we just put a mana boat?"

"Bridge is better for Young Master, and...would you be able to gain a formation spell for the druid’s illusion barrier? Or if not, ask them to put it there?"

"They’ll probably do it if the Little Prince asks cutely--ouch?" Natha grinned as I smacked him on the arm. Faker! You didn’t even feel that.

But wow...these two didn’t even flinch before started discussing the construction, as if creating the most secure place in the world within three weeks was just Monday office business.

"I’ll write another letter," I told them, feeling rather embarrassed about the whole ’Little Prince’ thing.

"The plan will be on your desk tomorrow morning, my Liege."

"Good. Divert the resource for Valen’s birthday to this for now."

"Oh, then we wouldn’t need three weeks in that case."

I almost coughed when I heard it. How many resources had he put into my birthday that diverting it to this project contributed significantly to its completion? On the other hand...

Was it really possible in three weeks? Even less? Was it because of magic? Money? Both? Or was it just the competence of these two demons?

"Cease your frown," Natha stroked the knit between my brows. "You don’t need to concern yourself about the construction; just choose the best place with them and carve the druid formation."

Well...it wasn’t like I knew anything about construction and security anyway.

"Aside from that, all you have to do is take care of yourself," he tapped on my plate next, signaling me to continue eating. "Remember that you need to be in peak condition."

"By your command, my Lord."

"Cheeky," he poked my cheek and so, I continued my lunch while the three demons talked further about the plan.

Just listening to it, I already knew it was way out of my league. They were talking numbers--big numbers--and I heard lots of important names being mentioned, some of which I remembered from our banquet and soiree.

Phew--no matter how many times I studied with Eruha, I still couldn’t get used to this. Magic stuff was fine, but anything involving money was lost in me. If my life wasn’t tied up to Natha and for some reason he left the world without me, leaving me all of his wealth...I would screw it up without a financial manager.

I would probably screw it up even with a financial manager.

Ah...I missed my little bird at a time like this, so I would have someone to talk to while the big brother and sister were discussing big stuff. But what could I do when Jade missed its big sister and wanted to fly around with Vrida?

"I would have preferred to never took my eyes off Shwa, but...I guess it’s not possible, huh?"

Standing at the edge of the pier and staring across the lake, I exhaled heavily while stroking the black pendant. Soon, it would be empty, and the frozen seed would start to sprout.

"We’ll build a nice bedroom there, so we can sleep with Shwa if we want," Natha circled my waist and kissed the back of my head. "We’ll make it big enough for all of your children to stay there."

"Vrida too?"

"Of course," he chuckled. "Isn’t she the main bodyguard?"

I laughed and nodded excitedly. "Jade would probably stay there more often than in the room upstairs."

"Oh," I felt his smile on the back of my ear. "Good for me, then."

Pfft--this demon. And with that cheery note, my birthday was creeping closer.
