Chapter 453: What’s a wedding party without a sprinkle of chaos?

My tears were still falling even after the voice stopped. Even though it should have been a party, a celebration, my guests surrounded me with worry. Even though I was clearly laughing in joy! Perhaps because I couldn’t stop crying for a long time, and so suddenly too.

"I’m fine, really..." I chuckled in delight; not just for hearing Shwa’s voice again after a long time, but also for how much they cared about me. "I just...I’m just really, really happy."

"Then maybe you should stop crying?" Zia took out a handkerchief and dabbed my face with it. "Gosh--you make me want to cry too!"

Among all of them, the one who was most confused was, of course, Jade. The boy saw my tears, but also felt how happy I was from our connection. He made this really confused, really adorable face; looking at me with a frown and a tilted head.

"Papa?" the little boy held my hand, asking carefully. "Why is Papa crying when Papa is happy?"

Umm...it just happened, okay? I had no idea how to explain this. "Uhh...there are all kinds of tears, Jade--"

[Jade]

We flinched. I looked at Jade, whose green eyes widened in surprise. Did he hear it too? Could it be because he was holding my hand? And then we heard a giggle, so crisp and cheerful inside our head. Jade gasped and climbed into my lap, staring at the black pendant.

"Shwa? Is that Shwa?" Jade asked joyfully, and we heard a giggle again.

"What?" Natha chimed in, getting his face close to the pendant. "Why can’t I hear anything?"

I could hear the jealousy in his voice; his face was clearly hurt because he was the only one who hadn’t heard Shwa’s voice. But...I grabbed his hand--the one with the mark--and as our marked fingers intertwined, I begged for my unborn child to speak again.

[Father!] and then another giggle, and I saw the face Natha made at the start of our wedding ceremony earlier. He was completely stunned, unblinking, until Jade slapped his cheek.

"Nightmare, wake up!" Jade pinched the cheek he just slapped. "Do you hear Shwa too?"

And even then, Natha only blinked before grinning like a fool.

"Shwa?" Zia tilted her head, and that was when I realized people were still surrounding our table, and they had gotten even more confused.

"A-ha!" D’Ara clapped her hands, curling her lips as her eyes gleamed. "I see what happened now."

That made the other turn to look at her. Amarein, however, only narrowed her eyes briefly before sipping on her tea. I guessed she already figured out what we meant, however vaguely. After all, we looked for the ’spot to conceive’ with her.

"Even if you look at me, I won’t tell you," D’Ara chuckled, making the other retreat with pursed lips--after all, what could they do? Forcing her? She clapped her hands again then. "Alright, alright--our sweetling is fine and all; he’s just too overwhelmed with happiness. Let’s go back to our table and start the feast, yes? Angwi had worked hard to prepare today’s meal."

"T-that’s right!" I wiped my cheeks and nodded eagerly. "I can’t eat anything this morning, so I’m very hungry now!"

"Well...as long as Young Master’s alright--ah! But you still need to watch your weight, okay? The wedding isn’t over yet!" Arta pointed her finger at me, reminding me that I still had several outfits to wear.

Natha finally came back from his stun, only to click his tongue at his vassal’s strictness. "I’m going to feed you lots while we’re away," he whispered.

Pfft--yeah, I knew you liked me plump, my Lord.

Well, fortunately, Angwi and the servants were sensible enough to only give me a little portion each so I could still try all of Angwi’s delicious food. The tables were only there for us to have a seat while I gave my messy speech, as well as to put the drinks and the starters. The real food, however, was at another table, in a buffet style.

Soon, the garden feast became a real garden party, where people walked around and took their own meals. They didn’t even need to stay at their table; there were a lot of other benches and tea tables around the garden. They could even eat in the swing if they wanted, or beside the fish pond.

It was the way I wanted, so the servants would have time to enjoy the food themselves instead of busy serving us. I still had Panne and Mara attending me, though, bringing me food and drink. They said because I was the main character that day, I should just let myself be pampered.

Even though I felt like I had been pampered every day...

See? Even if they didn’t tend to me, Natha would do it; fetching me drinks and carving some fruits. In the end, I told them to just join the other and enjoy the food too, which they finally did reluctantly.

I had no idea whether it was a good idea to have a bit of a cocktail at the feast, but...it was a party, so I thought it was rather appropriate. As a result, we had a slightly tipsy Arta and Zia singing a duet song from some popular demon singer I had no idea about, and Zarfa came out to follow by singing...a song from Earth? Aina chimed in, and then, surprisingly, Neel--who also got a bit drunk. The others just thought it was a song from the human realm, and gave accompaniment by clapping and whistling.

The atmosphere was full of joy, and the colorful rabbits jumped between the dancing people. Izzi finally put down the mechanical birds’ controller, and Zia dragged her to dance together. Being a coward still, she also dragged Jade along so it wouldn’t seem like there were only the two of them.

How magical; even though there was no music, they all moved around with the song anyone sang. Even Caba sang, and he actually had a good voice. Malta and Haikal only stood still in their place, but at least, they clapped their hands along. Lesta cheekily asked Eruha for a dance--probably just so he could get away from D’Ara for a second--and the vampire took it with a stride.

Who would have thought my flat teacher could do some waltz with clapping music?

I joined the merriment for a bit; dancing in circles with the girls and Opti, stumbling about as we dodged the jumping rabbits, and laughing like a drunkard even though I didn’t drink one bit. I guessed, ’drunk in the atmosphere’ was real.

Of course, the last hand that I took was Natha’s, who pulled me closer until all I could see was him. I didn’t mind; I wanted to be able to always see him.

"Are you satisfied with the party?" he asked, taking my waist and hand as if we were dancing to some slow song.

"Yeah," I laughed and replied without hesitation. "It’s exactly like I envisioned it to be!"

"You mean...chaotic?" he raised his brow.

"Yep!" I tiptoed and pecked his lips. "Just like us."

He made a disapproving face but didn’t say anything, just shrugged and let me have my moment. "As long as you’re happy," he said with a smile, and gave me a soft kiss back.

"Umm...Natha?" I looked at him; I didn’t want to break the nice moment, but also too curious to not ask. "What about your, umm...Grand Aunt?"

I was worried he might feel awkward or even offended, but as usual, he just shrugged as if it was routine. "It’s your event," he said. "You’ve never even met her, so..."

"So she didn’t want to come?" I raised my brows. I mean...I knew this was attended by my friends and family, but...wasn’t she your only blood-related kin left?

Seeing my expression, Natha chuckled and stroked my cheek gently. "She’s probably in L’Anaak Eed somewhere already," he said. "She just thinks it’ll be awkward to join this one."

"Oh..." I nodded. Well...I could understand if that was the case. "But still...will--can we meet later?"

"I’ll tell her," he nodded. "After all, she’s also your Grand Aunt now, huh?"

I nodded. Amarein was a bit different, since she was technically something like my grandmother’s second cousin. But this Grand Aunt of Natha was his grandfather’s sister, so the blood was there. I didn’t expect us to have a cozy relationship or anything, but I thought I should at least know what she looked like...what she was like.

"For now," he cupped my cheeks and kissed my forehead. "Just enjoy your party."

Right after he said that, Zia and Zarfa were jumping me, laughing with flushed faces which told me they had even more drinks.

"Vaaaal!"

They clung to me and dragged me to the middle again, into the dance with impromptu percussion that Arta and Opti made with the table and the glass. I had a feeling that Angwi was seething secretly, but let’s think about that later.

But for now, let’s just have fun with these people I hold dear; people who felt happy because of my happiness, and always wish for my happiness just like I wish for them.
