Chapter 342: Making sure your child can share is the first step toward a peaceful honeymoon

[Master look so happy!]

My little bird told me while we were soaking in the tub, and I guessed I had been smiling and giggling easily after spending some quality tea time with my--ahem--fiance.

"Physical contact is indeed important in a loving relationship," I muttered while looking at my reflection in the warm water.

[Hng?] the green head, which had been floating on the water’s surface, tilted slightly. And then the little bird suddenly jumped and nuzzled on my cheek. [Like this?]

Pfft--I laughed and hugged the plump little bird. "Yes, like this," patting the green head, I told Jade about the good news that I heard from Natha before the teatime ended. "By the way, the person who will make your room will be here tomorrow."

[Tomorrow?! Jade will have room tomorrow!]

"No, silly," I squeezed the plump cheeks in front of me. "It’ll take time to build one, so it can’t be done in a day."

[Oh...like the house for fishes?]

"Yes, like the house for fishes," I pressed my lips to hold back a laugh. "But, in turn, you can make any request. Make the room however you like! Isn’t that nice?"

[Whatever Jade like?] the green eyes sparkled with wonder and confusion, probably questioning why Natha acting so generous again. [Then...]

* * *

"Umm...Young Master..."

"Yes?"

I looked at the demon who was in charge of making Jade’s room. She was the same person who made the one on the Lord Castle, so she should already know the basics of what she needed to do. But right now, she looked at me in confusion.

"I thought...I’m supposed to make a room for...bird?" she blinked, looking at the little boy on my lap.

"Jade is a bird!" the little boy raised his hands, replying cheerfully. "But Jade can be human too!"

"O...oh?"

Well, I understood her confusion. There were several reasons why Jade was in the little boy form right now. First, I would like to see Jade changing without relying on being fed a purified mana. Second, so he could communicate easily with the person who would make the room; that way, it could be made into whatever Jade wanted to be.

"Jade is a special bird, so Jade can shapeshift," I told her. "That’s why, this time, please take this form into consideration too. Of course, the place for a bird to rest is also important."

"I--I see..." she nodded slowly. But as she looked at Jade and the sparkling green eyes full of hope, her own eyes slowly filled with determination. "Alright, leave it to me, Young Master!"

"Good," I nodded and put Jade on his own feet. "Why don’t you bring her to the room, Jade?"

"Okay!"

The little boy jumped and grabbed the demon lady, half-dragging her the way Zia liked to drag me everywhere. We strolled out of the guest lounge and through the bedroom gallery, toward where Zia’s room was located. Jade had picked the room beside Zia’s to be turned into his room. A good choice, since the little bird could just go next door if it felt lonely.

"Here, her! Jade want it here!"

Little arms spread out to show the room. It was initially a guest room, so it was more spacious than the one in Lord Castle, which looked more like an attic. All of the furniture had been cleared this morning by the ever-efficient golem servant, including the rug, so Jade’s energetic voice was echoing inside.

"Tell her what you want, Jade," I told the little boy, who excitedly looked at the demon lady.

She smiled and whipped out her notebook, crouching in front of Jade so my little boy didn’t have to look up. Good; you passed, lady.

"Umm...Jade still want the one in the Castle! The...the leaves and swing and trees--flower too!" the little boy started. "Also, also--cotton bed for Jade and Master!"

"For me too?"

"So Master can sleep in Jade’s room too!"

I laughed and, after pondering, gave the lady my input. "You’re the one who designed the greenhouse too, right? Perhaps something like the bed in that corner--you know, the one that looked like a...basket? A nest?"

"Understood, Young Master," she nodded readily. "What about the walls? Would you like it the same as the one in Lord Castle?"

"Yes! Lots of leaves!" Jade nodded eagerly. "And, umm..." Jade looked at me this time, tugging on my sleeve. "Jade want that...the thing in the library, for books..."

"A bookcase?" I clapped my hands as I recalled something. "That’s right! You have books now."

The green hair bobbed adorably in response. The demon lady took a note in her book, and I swept my gaze around the room. "Hmm...Jade is still growing, so eventually, Jade will reach the size of an adult elemental bird. Please also take this into consideration."

"Yes, Young Master," she nodded and looked toward the window. "Then, we should make sure the window is big enough to be used by an adult elemental bird. Ah, what shall we do about the fireplace? If we want to use climbing plants on the walls--"

"Fireplace stay!" Jade cut her loudly. "So we have place for Ignis!"

Ah, right. "My Salamander," I told the confused demon. "Fiery, flammable," I added. "Can you make sure the window is fireproof while at it? Ignis likes to sunbathe in the window."

"Of course. What else would you like to have, Young Master Jade?"

Jade giggled when the demon lady called him Young Master, and continued to tell her what he wanted; what kind of green leaves, what kind of flowers, the color of the grass on the floor, the color of the nest bed, and so on.

While they were conversing, I walked to the window and looked down. We could easily see the garden from here, where the construction workers had built a tent on top of the...fish’s house. It was so they could draw the formations without any disturbance, like from the wind or the rain. The process was long and full of detail, so they were extra careful about it. I reckoned it had something to do with the fact that the employer was the Demon Lord of Greed too.

Anyway, Lesta would come after they were done--probably tomorrow--and if there was nothing wrong, they would proceed with filling the pond with water and hopefully, the fish would come in time.

"How long will it take?" I asked the demon lady after we were done.

"I will put the order for the materials right away, Young Master. The good thing about the realm of greed is that we have pretty much everything here," she smiled confidently while putting her notebook inside her coat. "I’m sure everything will be ready tomorrow, and I’ll be able to work on Young Master Jade’s room immediately. Two days would be enough for me."

"Oh, that’s the excellent! Don’t you think so, Jade?"

"Mm..." Jade nodded, holding into my hand timidly.

We bid goodbye to the demon lady, who was in a rush to put on our orders, and I took Jade in my arms, carrying the little boy as we walked down to meet Zia in the library. "What’s wrong, baby? Aren’t you happy about the room?"

Jade grabbed my shoulder and pressed his face on my neck. "Jade happy, but...Jade still want to sleep with Master."

A laugh came out of my mouth, even though I knew Jade’s concern was a real thing. It was just so...adorable. I patted the green head and let Jade press his face harder on the crook of my neck. "Oh, but you’ll still sleep with me, Jade. Natha only came once every five nights."

The little boy said nothing and just grabbed me tighter. I decided to use the stairs instead of the elevator then, just so we could talk longer, just the two of us.

"Why? You don’t want to share me?"

The green hair rustled as Jade shook his head.

"But you know you can’t do that," I patted his back, in the way Natha would pat me when he tried to soothe my distressed self. "You have to share me with Natha, with Ignis, with Zia, with Vrida, with everyone. And later, you have to share me with Shwa."

Jade twitched and slowly raised his head. "...little brother?" he asked quietly.

"Yes," I pinched his cheek. "Both of us are new to this world, and we come to know a lot of people afterward. I also have to share you with Vrida, and Zia, and...do you remember when you spend so much time with Vrida and your seniors? I was also a bit sad at that time."

"Oh no!"

I chuckled and squeezed the surprised cheeks. "But do you love me less because you get close to others?"

The green hair looked like they were dancing as Jade shook his head so quickly, almost aggressively, while stretching his arms wide. "No! Jade love Master the same! This much! Thii~is much!"

"Right? The same goes for me," I bonked the little boy’s head lightly. "Even when I get close to more people, or spend a lot of time with Natha, it doesn’t mean I love you less, Jade. And..." I paused to look down, at the black pendant between us. "Even after Shwa is born later, I won’t love you less."

The round green eyes looked at me sheepishly. "Promise?"

"Promise," I brushed the green fringe and kissed his forehead. "Won’t you love your little brother too, later? As much as you love me?"

"No," Jade shook his head and buried his face on my shoulder again. "Not as much as Master."

I laughed and hugged him tightly. "Bet you’ll love the new fish that will come later."

Jade gasped and lifted his head. "Fishes!"
