Chapter 27: City of Berdiver

In addition to HP Elixirs, Agares obtained many other items. But after checking the details one by one, he found that many of them couldn’t be used yet.

Like mineral materials. These items were purely for blacksmiths and were useless to Agares right now. Even so, Agares kept them since they were Uncommon mineral items.

Then there were gems. After Nyx explained to him, gems were used to upgrade armor or swords, as well as pets. But to do that, Agares had to at least reach stage three.

For now, all he could do was consume HP Elixirs and use the money he had earned. Agares planned to sell the other low-quality items when he arrived in Berdiver City.

That day, Agares rested completely in his room. He was still exhausted from the long journey back and forth between Akaren Village and Faircallen.

The man already knew what had happened in Faircallen. Agares had already made a long plan to deal with this.

He was confident that in the future, he would be able to destroy the Caer Vireth Kingdom.

Agares rested for 12 hours, sleeping undisturbed in his inn room. When he tried to open his eyes, the time showed four in the afternoon, marked by the orange light of dusk on the horizon.

’I recovered faster,’ replied Agares.

In total, Agares had 269 gold coins, 540 silver coins, and 770 copper coins. He had obtained them after robbing bandits and five soldiers in Faircallen.

With that much money, Agares did not worry about running out of money on his journey.

Day turned to night, it was time for Agares to leave. After putting on his armor and strapping his sword back on, Agares went to the stable in the backyard of the inn to get ready.

"Are you leaving again?" asked a female receptionist, appearing from behind.

Agares turned his head and smiled slightly while busy saddling his horse. He said clearly that he was returning to continue his journey, as he could not stay long in Akaren Village.

"Yes. I have something to do in Berdiver."

The woman cleared her throat. She stepped forward with her hands behind her back, holding something.

When she was close to Agares, she immediately handed him a bag of food. Agares turned his head slightly to the side, surprised by the woman’s gesture.

"You are a regular guest at our inn. As a token of our gratitude, I made you this cake," explained the woman, her face red as she looked intently at Agares.

Agares took the cake and put it in his magic bag, "Thank you."

"Don’t forget to eat the cake while you rest on your journey. I hope you like it."

The man remained silent, occasionally nodding in response to the receptionist’s words as a sign of gratitude from Agares. Though Agares had to admit that he wasn’t very hungry on this journey.

After finishing with the saddle, Agares mounted the horse. He bowed his head, bidding farewell to the female receptionist at the inn.

Quickly, Agares urged his horse to leave the inn, heading east toward the village. There, there was a crossroads leading to the City of Berdiver, not too far away, only a three-hour ride on horseback.

During the three-hour journey, Agares was always accompanied by the fairy Nyx on his back.

He thought he would meet and encounter the bandits again. However, as far as the eye could see, there were no signs of bandits coming to ambush him.

The intersection was clearly visible, so Agares stopped in the middle. Without thinking twice, Agares turned left and continued riding down the forest hill until he arrived at a vast green plain with the city of Berdiver at the end of the road, protected by a large castle wall and heavily guarded by many city soldiers.

As usual, there was a queue of people entering the city. Agares queued with them, the merchants who had come from Akaren Village and other villages near Berdiver City.

"Next," said the city soldier.

It was Agares’ turn to be checked by them. Agares immediately handed over his noble token to the two city soldiers in front of him. This suddenly shocked the two soldiers.

"The Thorn Noble Token?"

"Who are you?"

"I am Jaquelin. I am a friend of Lady Erika. Hearing that Lady Erika has returned makes me very happy, and I want to see her," explained Agares.

"Then what is this token?"

"Oh. Lady Erika gave it to me, so that if a dangerous situation arises, I can use this token to seek refuge inside the city."

The two soldiers looked at each other in confusion, as they had no clear orders to accept Thorn’s noble token. However, they remained indifferent.

They were reluctant to get into trouble over something they didn’t want. In the end, the two soldiers allowed Agares to enter the city.

Agares nodded, put the token back in his pocket, and rode into the city. At a glance, Agares saw that the situation inside the city was much more conducive.

Agares’ attention was diverted to a large building in the center of the city, with a sun monument on top of it. The building looked like a large cathedral, with people coming in and out of it.

Security was tight, needs were met, and the peace and happiness of the people were guaranteed. Agares felt as if he were in a place untouched by the saber monster issue.

"They are too relaxed and peaceful here," said Agares, looking to his right and left.

But his focus was on going to the Thorn family residence. He had to get there quickly and deliver Madam Louise’s message.

Agares was sure that there was a certain connection between Louise and the Thorn family for her to entrust Agares to them.

Before arriving there, Agares turned and stopped at a well-stocked supply store. There, he was immediately greeted enthusiastically.

"Welcome to my shop, sir. Do you need anything?" asked the shop owner.

"Yes. I want to sell some items," replied Agares.

"Go ahead. What do you want to sell?"

Agares smiled. He tapped his magic pouch and brought out 94 items consisting of weapons, mineral items, gems, and even skills for adventurers. All of these items were classified as low-level.

Even so, the man looked shocked to see the floor flooded with the many items Agares wanted to sell. To sell everything, the man said he would have to work with other shops.

"Take your time," Agares said.

He kept 37 HP Potions and 22 Mana Potions from the items he had obtained. Now, the 94 items displayed before him were useless to him.

After waiting, the man returned with more news. He said that he and the other shop owners could only buy half, or around 50 items.

Agares didn’t mind. He would take the remaining 44 items to sell elsewhere. The shop owner counted carefully, totaling 20 gold coins and 66 silver coins.

The man nodded. He took the money and put it into his magic pouch. Agares benefited from his power, but it was still dangerous to show off his abilities to anyone.

"Someone... please stop her!" shouted the city soldier.

Agares narrowed his eyes, seeing three heavily armored city soldiers chasing a 6-year-old girl. The girl was running in a T-shirt and shorts, her arms wrapped around a loaf of bread.

It seemed the girl had stolen a piece of bread. However, were three soldiers worth chasing a girl like a thief? That was completely inappropriate.

Agares’ eyes met the girl’s, she knew that Agares was a powerful person who could protect her. As a result, the girl hid behind Agares and asked for his help.

"Sir! Please step aside and don’t interfere in this matter," replied the soldier.

"She only took a piece of bread. Don’t you feel sorry for her?" asked Agares.

"Crime is crime. We are obligated to punish her."

Agares sighed. He had thought Berdiver would be a beautiful city without any flaws, but it had become a city with the lowest level of humanity.

The man took out three silver coins and gave them to the soldiers, "Is this enough?"

"Are you trying to pay for the piece of bread?" the soldier asked, making sure.

The girl looked amazed, her pupils widening as she stared at Agares’ kindness toward her. No one had ever done anything so kind for her before. The girl felt that Agares could surely fulfill her wish.

"Um... what’s your name, sir?" the girl asked.

Agares turned, smiled, and stroked the girl’s hair, "You can call me Ares!"
