Chapter 82: Chapter 83: Untitled Chapter 2
"Tell you, I can, but he’s also very important, so you need to show your worth," the man continued. "Stand up, I’m going to search you for weapons."
Jiang Shu stood still as two cards slipped from his sleeves to between his shoulder blades.
There was no denial, which meant there indeed was a mole inside the police station.
After the search, the man nodded in satisfaction, "Go ahead, and no tricks."
"I would like to see Kirie," Jiang Shu looked at him. "That is a prerequisite for cooperation. Also, how should I address you?"
"Crocodile. If you want to see her, I’ll take you," the man agreed to the request, which reassured Jiang Shu slightly. It seemed that Kirie was probably alright.
Upon entering the factory, the man who called himself Crocodile led Jiang Shu to a secret passage. At the entrance of the secret passage, another man was guarding. He nodded slightly at Crocodile as a greeting, but when he saw Jiang Shu, his gaze was quite intriguing.
Was it...
Hatred?
Had he done something?
Jiang Shu was puzzled, but from the current situation, it seemed that these people were not yet ready to lay hands on him.
Elsewhere in the factory, various firearms and bullets were stored, and in a corner, there was a simple chemical synthesis table.
Ammonium oil explosives were being prepared here, and...
The quantity was not small.
"Come in, she’s downstairs," Crocodile looked back at Jiang Shu.
Jiang Shu followed, entered the secret passage, and walked bent over for a while until Crocodile stopped at a secret room door. Jiang Shu looked through a small window on the door.
Kirie was tied to a chair, her eyes and mouth covered with a black cloth, her clothes neat and showing no signs of being touched.
Unlike ordinary thugs, they had a purpose and organizational discipline.
Jiang Shu made this judgment in his mind.
"I want to speak with her for a few moments, to ensure that you haven’t harmed her. It will be quick, just give me a minute," he said to Crocodile. "Rest assured, once I’ve confirmed, I’ll cooperate with you."
"That’s acceptable, but I have a question," Crocodile agreed to his request, then looked at Jiang Shu with interest. "On Davis Street in District D, how did you escape from me? Can you turn into a playing card?"
He thought for a moment and continued, "Are you a Key Master?"
"No," Jiang Shu shook his head, then opened his wristwatch to show part of his Character Card. "My Mysterious Coefficient is below 1.0."
They suspected him to be a Key Master?
From his words, it wasn’t hard to deduce that before he had shown his Paper Card Technique, there had been no suspicion. So, what they valued was his other ability...
But what other abilities did he possess that were worth their elaborate scheme to "invite" him?
Moreover, if they suspected him to be a Key Master and still dared to let him in, it meant they might have a way to counter it, or perhaps, one of them was a Key Master...
Then the most likely possibility was this man, Crocodile.
Jiang Shu’s eyes flickered as he became more cautious of this man.
He had only seen one Key Master before, but he knew clearly that these Key Masters’ authority abilities were not weaker than his own, and moreover, they were more mysterious.
He felt like playing dumb at first, but then he saw no need and decided to reveal his Mysterious Coefficient, which might cause the other to let down his guard.
"Oh?" Crocodile looked at his reaction and chuckled. "You know about the existence of the Key Masters, and you know that their Mysterious Coefficients are higher than 1.0. That means one of your acquaintances must be a Key Master. Let me guess..."
He continued, "This woman inside, impossible, and that police officer, just T2, not qualified. So, the Key Master near you must be the one you met recently..."
"T1’s Shen Xuwan?"
Jiang Shu’s pupils contracted slightly. He knew his response would expose some things, but he had not anticipated that Crocodile could deduce so much. This man knew him better than he thought.
However, it did not cover his own term "Deception," so he still held the initiative.
"So, what exactly does collaboration mean?" Jiang Shu stood at the door of the Secret Room, turned around, and asked Crocodile. This was his last question.
"When you get to the Thirteen District, someone will tell you," Crocodile sneered.
From his tone, did Crocodile also not know? It seemed the level of secrecy was very high.
Jiang Shu made up his mind; he could not afford to waste more time here with Crocodile, or Wolf would be upon them soon.
Walking into the Secret Room, he approached Kirie and bent over to remove the two cloth bands from her face, softly calling, "Kirie, are you okay?"
"You... Jiang Shu, what are you doing here?" Kirie squinted her eyes, adjusting to the bright light in the Secret Room. Her voice was tinged with surprise, but then she urged, "You need to leave quickly. They’re disciples of the machinery, and if you’re not sure, use that witchcraft to escape quickly. They...they won’t dare to harm me! Really!"
"Heh." Jiang Shu chuckled lightly. This Kirie was still as bizarre as ever.
He retied the cloth bands over Kirie’s eyes, then, grabbing the back of the chair with his left hand, he dragged it across the floor, speaking flatly, "Stay quiet, close your eyes, and don’t speak."
"What are you trying to do?" Crocodile squinted his eyes and reached towards his waist, sensing danger.
Jiang Shu didn’t answer and simply extended his right hand. A streak of black light flashed, shooting straight towards Crocodile’s right wrist. After a "whoosh" sound of cleaving air, a card lodged itself in his right wrist.
"Hmm?" He expressed confusion. Crocodile’s right hand was a prosthetic, and it was harder than he anticipated.
But the next second, the card embedded in the metal wrist began to change. Taking the wrist as the center, the card replicated itself around the wrist. The circle of cards retracted slightly then simultaneously sliced towards the wrist.
Under the multi-angle joint slicing, the prosthetic immediately snapped off, fully disabled.
"You!" Crocodile was shocked, not expecting Jiang Shu to act so decisively and suddenly launch an attack.
A card sliced towards the knife holster at his waist, destroying the sheath, and the knife instantly fell to the floor, and another card rushed right towards his eyes, swiftly destroying both prosthetic eyes.
Key Masters, by activating their Secret Keys, Jiang Shu guessed that if he was a Key Master, his Secret Key would be either the knife or the prosthetic eyes that had just glowed green.
"Ahhhh!" Crocodile painfully clasped his eyes with his left hand as the card also injured his eye interior while destroying the prosthetics, the nerves continuously sending pain signals to his brain.
Jiang Shu watched him, thoughtful.
It appeared he lacked combat experience. Based on his earlier words, he must be a T1 from the non-combat Sequence, who, after obtaining the golden colored term, found his Secret Key and became a Key Master, was then probably discovered by the mechanical disciples, and after brief training, was directly sent on missions.
The card glided over his shadow on the wall.
However, contrary to Jiang Shu’s thoughts, Shadow Cutting did not activate.
The card... insufficient compatibility with Shadow Cutting? Couldn’t activate Shadow Cutting?
That shouldn’t be the reason.
He pondered for a moment, then imparted a spinning force to the card. The card slipped out of control and its speed surged, slicing quickly over the shadow.
This time, the shadow neatly split apart, the head fell, clanging as it hit the ground.
