Chapter 232: Chapter 169 Good Morning

Working at this place hadn’t been long, but Liu Tingruo could clearly feel the passage of time every single day.

Every minute, every second.

She doubted herself, feeling as if her willpower was continuously being eroded, and yet she kept on working out of inertia.

Working...

But today, this inertia cracked completely with a single look from Jiang Shu.

Persisting in something might be meaningless, could backfire, or even hurt the people around her.

Under such circumstances, those who still insist on the wrong path must be fools.

Let it be.

She once again said this to herself in her heart.

"Sure." Jiang Shu naturally placed his hand on Liu Tingruo’s head, then gently pressed it against his chest, "I’ve said it before, whatever choice you make, I’ll stand by your side."

After the initial stiffness of their first physical contact, Liu Tingruo gradually relaxed. She rested her cheek against Jiang Shu’s chest, closing her eyes and letting out a tiny "mm" from her nose.

Like a wounded little beast.

"Are you leaving?" Jiang Shu asked.

"Mm." Liu Tingruo nodded slightly.

"Where to?"

"Anywhere."

"Okay."

The two then fell silent, letting time flow quietly in the tranquil space.

Jiang Shu felt Liu Tingruo’s breathing in his arms, her body rising and falling rhythmically.

Mm.

Soft and carrying the scent of a warm bath wash.

It was only after an unknown amount of time that he bent down to sniff lightly at Liu Tingruo’s hair, then couldn’t help but shake his head and say, "How long has it been since you washed your hair?"

"Eh!" Liu Tingruo suddenly bristled, stepping away from Jiang Shu like a startled kitten. She instinctively defended herself, "Research keeps me busy, no time for washing hair! Besides, in a place like this, there’s no need to wash it often..."

"That’s wrong." But suddenly, as if realizing something, she crossed her arms over her chest, lifted her chin, and looked down on Jiang Shu, "I don’t need to wash my hair for the likes of Jiang Shu, what’s it to you?"

"Alright, alright, it doesn’t matter." Jiang Shu laughed, looking toward her bedroom, "Then pack up your things, and let’s go."

"Yes, let’s go, right now." Liu Tingruo nodded, her tone decisive as if trying to convince someone.

Then she turned and went into the bedroom, "I’ll change clothes, don’t peek."

"Oh." Jiang Shu watched as Liu Tingruo entered the bedroom, then muttered under his breath, "Tsk, not even closing the door, looking down on me, huh?"

Apparently hearing his comment, a fair and well-proportioned arm suddenly stretched out and "bang," the door closed.

Jiang Shu looked at the closed door and smiled.

He touched a spot on the front of his shirt, where Liu Tingruo’s cheek had just been pressed against.

There were traces of moisture, a bit wet.

Silly Liu Tingruo.

Jiang Shu sighed suddenly and walked towards the corner where Diller lay, squatting down to examine him.

Diller was still in a daze, showing no signs of waking up.

Lifting his hand, the Black Card kept spinning, Jiang Shu quietly watching the fallen Diller, his eyes a deep, emotionless black.

But in the end, he did not throw the card.

As Jiang Shu sat on the sofa, legs crossed, waiting, four Tablet Spirits slid out from behind the sofa, with Little Eight and Little Five following closely behind.

Two full-blown followers.

"What’s this?" Jiang Shu looked at these four fellows, knowing these Tablet Spirits hadn’t shown up for no reason and were surely up to something.

Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Ding: Friendly exchange, friendly exchange.

"I’m warning you, don’t get any funny ideas," Jiang Shu’s fingers pointed past each of these guys in turn.

Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Ding: Received!

Unlike Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Ding, Little Eight and Little Five were not fully intelligent beings, so even if they were bullied, they wouldn’t go complaining.

But if Liu Tingruo found out, he would be the unlucky one.

After sitting on the sofa for about ten minutes, Liu Tingruo emerged from the room, toweling her hair and asking, "Is this okay?"

Her dress was as simple as ever, a modest and understated black shirt and pants.

"It’s fine, looks good," Jiang Shu surveyed her from head to toe, then affirmed.

"Good." Liu Tingruo nodded, reaching behind the door to grab a small suitcase, then looked at Jiang Shu’s empty hands, "Should we stop by the theater first to pick up some of your things?"

"No need, those aren’t important," Jiang Shu shook his head, recalling what Diller had said earlier, then asked, "You have a research team, right? Are you taking them with you?"

"No need." Liu Tingruo refused, "They still have high value, Tang wouldn’t tolerate Diller messing around."

"Then let’s go." Having received her reply, Jiang Shu disappeared from the room.

"Mm." Liu Tingruo looked at the room now left only to herself. She looked around; the air in the empty room quieted again.

Suddenly, without reason, her heart felt a wave of panic, but before it could show on her face, a warm hand had already grasped hers.

"Let’s go, I’m here," Jiang Shu’s gentle voice sounded in her ear.

From his tone, she knew he was right beside her, very close, the warmth of his speech enveloping her earlobe.

A tickling sensation rose from the depths of her heart, causing Liu Tingruo to tremble slightly. She instinctively wanted to pull away, but she quickly recovered, coughing twice to steady her mind, straightened her back, and her demeanor turned cool again.
