Chapter 403: My Fate
Chapter 403: My Fate
Mineah smiled as she watched baby Alya feed on her breast. Days had already passed since she gave birth to her baby, and she had mostly stayed inside the tent because Nikolai wanted her to rest and recuperate well. It was he who would often go out with baby Alya to give their baby some morning sunlight, and he was doing a good job taking care of them both.
"I can’t believe I have competition for those nipples now," Nikolai teased, grinning playfully while watching her feed their newborn daughter on the bed.
Mineah’s face blushed as she mumbled, "It’s not like you’re going to suck our baby Alya’s milk too."
"But I want to know how it tastes too," Nikolai chuckled.
"Stop that!" Mineah scolded with a scrunched up face.
Instead of replying, Mikolai chuckled as he got up and kissed Mineah’s forehead. "Give her to me once you’re done feeding her, Mine," he smiled with a teasing tone. "You need more rest so you can feed me soon."
Mineah simply pursed up her lips as she continued to blush. She then looked at baby Alya who was currently very busy feeding on her. She smiled and gently leaned down to kiss her baby.
"I am so blessed," she lovingly murmured before looking at Nikolai. "I’m blessed to have you too, and now..." She then shifted her eyes to Alya. "And now our baby Alya... Being a mother gives me a different kind of fulfillment I’ve never felt before, Lai. I can’t wait to raise our Alya and give her all our love."
Soon, Alya finished feeding, and Nikolai promptly took her from Mineah’s arms so that she could have some rest. Despite this, she didn’t end up sleeping or anything. She just watched Nikolai talk to Alya and play with her.
And then, Alya suddenly cried.
"What’s wrong baby, Alya?" Nikolai asked as he gently put her back in her crib. "Did you pee or poop?"
"Did she poop?" Mineah asked as she moved to get up from bed.
"Oh, she did. But don’t worry. Just stay there on the bed. I will handle it," Nikolai replied, stopping Mineah from standing up.
"Do you know how to do it?" she curiously asked.
"Of course. I just have to clean her poop, so what’s there to know about simple things such as this?" Nikolai boasted.
Mineah was about to retort, but they were interrupted when a royal guard suddenly announced Queen Xenia and Lena’s presence outside the tent.
Noting their arrival, Mineah answered, "Let them in."
At her word, her sister Xenia along with Lena soon entered, and they arrived exactly as Nikolai was intently staring at baby Alya in her crib while holding a wet towel.
"I should wipe it downwards, right?" Nikolai asked.
"Right," Mineah answered as she quickly got up from bed and wordlessly led Lena and Xenia to their seats.
"What happened?" Xenia asked as she worriedly approached Nikolai.
"Ah, baby Alya pooped, and I don’t want Mine to move a lot so I volunteered to clean her," Nikolai replied.
"Do you even know how to do it?" Xenia snorted, asking the same question Mineah did just a while ago.
"Yes..."
This time, even though Nikolai still answered yes like earlier, Xenia still approached her husband and taught him the proper way to do things.
Mineah smiled upon seeing it, but just as she was about to make some tea for them, Lena walked towards her.
"Let me do it," Lena insisted. "Please sit..."
"How come nobody wants me to move?" Mineah grumbled with a pout. "I mean, how many days has it been since I gave birth? It’s been six days already."
"No, you’re not allowed to do things yet except for feeding our baby Alya, Mine," Nikolai reminded.
In Mineah’s opinion, he was just being overprotective. She could tell how well her body was doing already, and she was pretty sure she was capable of doing things now.
"You should rest for a few more days, Mineah. Listen to your husband, and in ten days time, you can start working your ass off to take care of Alya here," Xenia reminded. "Isn’t that right, baby Alya? Tell your mother that carrying and giving birth to you isn’t an easy task. She should get enough rest and regain her strength first before doing anything else."
From there, Xenia then proceeded to baby talk with Alya which made the baby giggle. All the while, Mineah smiled as she watched her sister play with her baby.
"Was it hard, Your Majesty?" Lena curiously asked Mineah.
Mineah’s smile widened at her as she shook her head. "Not really. I believe it just depends on your perspective," she answered. "In my opinion, I had a very sensitive pregnancy, so I had a hard time sometimes, but that’s not really the case."
It was true that her pregnancy was quite sensitive since she experienced a lot of contractions from baby Alya than a normal pregnancy should have. She even had some spotting during her second trimester, and she had to stay in bed for a week.
She then added, "All those pains weren’t that hard for me... I enjoyed the discomfort of knowing that a living baby was growing inside of me. Nikolai and I prayed earnestly for baby Alya to come to our lives after everything that we encountered, and sure enough, she came."
From there, a few more important conversations were had, and Xenia and Lena soon left while Nikolai remained in the tent as he gently swayed Alya in his arms.
"She’s already asleep," Nikolai murmured as he gently put Alya on the bed beside her. Seeing the addition, Mineah moved to her side so that she could have a proper look at Alya. He then joined them and whispered, "Go to sleep now, Mine. Have a late afternoon nap with our baby Alya while I stay here to look after you two. I’ll wake you up to have dinner."
Mineah nodded as she comfortably closed her eyes. She then felt Nikolai’s lips press against hers as he whispered, "I love you."
"I love you more," she answered with a content smile, feeling the security of her husband’s presence alone.
She opened her eyes, and as she expected, Nikolai was still staring lovingly at her. He then leaned closer until their forehead were touching while giving enough space for their baby Alya who remained in between them.
"Mine, thank you. Words are not enough to express how grateful I am right now. Thank you for giving me the family I always dreamed of having, Mine," Nikolai lovingly stated as he caressed her cheek with his knuckle. "Right now, I can’t wait to build and grow our family. You brought meaning to my life, Mine."
"It’s the same for me, Lai," she lovingly whispered with her sweetest smile. "You, Alya, and our growing family are my all."
Nikolai’s face reddened, and she chuckled since she had always thought about those things. She just never said it out loud to him. Her smile grew as she lovingly added, "You’re my fate that I will willingly surrender to all over again..."
