Chapter 397: Friends and Family
Mineah smiled as she looked at the rising sun. Another season had ended with summer now fast approaching, and yet Mineah still felt like days were passing by more slowly than she would’ve hoped.
Gently caressing her growing bump, she murmured, "You’re growing fast inside of me, Alya." She was six months pregnant now, and her stomach was visibly showing.
"Hmm... We’re not yet sure if she’s really a girl, Mine," Nikolai pointed out with a soft hum as he sat beside her with a platter of cut fruits.
"I can feel her inside of me, Lai. Our baby is a girl," she insisted. "I can see through someone’s life essence, and in my case, I can feel our baby girl’s life essence. And trust me, she’s a girl."
Nikolai chuckled as he gently grabbed her by the hand and lovingly kissed it, his gaze also turning to stare at the rising sun before them. They were currently on the roof of their palace having breakfast, and Mineah had wanted to do it early so that they could witness the eastern sunrise. Thankfully, it was all worth it.
"I can’t wait to hold her in my arms and see how adorable she will look then," Nikolai enthusiastically remarked. "I hope she’ll look more like you though."
"We’ll see when the time comes," Mineah simply smiled as she rested her head on her husband’s shoulder. "You know, Brother is very determined to hold that Global Summit for all the kingdoms in the world at the moment. Do you think it will be a success? I heard all the preparations will be completed in around three months."
"You’ll be near your due date by that time, Mine," Nikolai answered. "But to answer your question, that Global Summit looks promising, and I do think we all need an event like that so all rulers can have an open discussion about important matters to maintain peace, and order and keep the good relationships between the realms."
Mineah nodded. She was glad that her husband, including her brother-in-law Darius, were both very supportive of Ezekiel’s intentions.
"Oh!"
She let out a gasp when she felt her baby move inside her stomach. She was new to it, and she had heard from Krisha that she would experience this more often, especially once she entered her seventh month of pregnancy.
"What’s the matter?" Nikolai asked her with a creased forehead, having heard her sudden reaction.
Instead of replying, Mineah smiled before grabbing his hand and letting it touch her belly. "Nothing. It’s just that Alya’s being a little playful now," she eagerly replied. "Can you feel her moving?"
Nikolai hummed in curiosity before focusing on her belly. "Oh, yes. She’s moving. This is a good sign, right?" he said with a wide grin on his face while caressing her belly. "Wait... Are you excited to come out already, my darling?"
Mineah simply watched in content as her husband talked to their unborn baby inside her belly. It was a sign of better times to come, one when they finally have their child in their arms.
"I can’t wait to see you taking care of our baby, Lai," she teased him with a grin. "You should start practicing being a hands-on father, especially since you’ll be taking care of her while I recuperate after giving birth."
Nikolai chuckled and confidently stated, "Don’t worry, Mine. I’m well prepared already. You’ll soon witness how well I’ll take care of our baby Alya with utmost care and love."
"I guess I shouldn’t doubt that, seeing how well you’ve taken care of me," Mineah praised him with a wink, and she chuckled even more seeing how her husband blushed at her words. Seeing her husband’s pale cheeks reddening like that was just too adorable.
Sharing each other’s chuckles and happiness, the couple both had the brightest smiles on their faces as they stared lovingly at each other. It was something to be remembered, of that they were both sure.
"Right, Taro had just arrived," Nikolai suddenly informed her.
"That’s great!" Mineah nodded in satisfaction. She had been the one who requested her husband to let Taro come home early, especially now that Krisha could possibly give birth anytime now since she was already due to give birth any day now.
"Thank you," she sincerely stated with a smile.
"Hmm?"
"Thank you for allowing Taro to stay by Krisha’s side during this period," she elaborated.
"I’m not that heartless, Mine. It’s Taro’s right to be with his wife during this time. To be with his wife while she’s giving birth..." he softly chuckled. "I already put enough men around Lady Jayra anyway. In addition, Darius is also making sure that Jayra is well guarded."
"I can only imagine how vexed Lady Jayra is right now having a lot of guards around her," Mineah chuckled. "I’m sure my bloodthread in her won’t take too long to clean all the dark energy inside her body though. Based on my estimates, she’ll be able to remove my bloodthread soon in around three more months..."
"Really?" Nikolai asked. "I thought it would take more time?"
"Well, I’ve been doing some experiments, and before you start frowning, I assure you that the cultivation I’m doing won’t be harmful to both me and our baby," she insisted with a lecturing tone. "Using the divine energy inside me is very safe, and you should know that all divine energies come from Heaven, so it’s pure and harmless... That kind of energy brings nothing but benefits."
"Well, I guess I can agree on that seeing how you’re changing my tastes away from blood," Nikolai nonchalantly stated.
A short pause settled in their conversation, but before they could continue...
"Your Majesties! It is time," Dani’s voice suddenly roared from behind. She was panting, having obviously sprinted just to see them. "Krisha’s giving birth!"
As if taken by surprise, Mineah and Nikolai quickly stood up before making their way to where Krisha was currently giving birth. Once they arrived, they patiently waited outside the room together with the others. From there, they could hear Krisha’s painful screams.
Minutes passed filled with pained yells and sobs, but then it all stopped before being followed by a baby’s loud cry.
"Goodness, isn’t he crying out loud for a boy?" Laura, who was also waiting outside with them, commented.
"Well that’s just a good sign, I guess," Dani stated with a grin. "Isn’t it healthier if a baby’s crying like that after being birthed?"
"I still can’t believe that we’ll be all aunts now!" Laura celebrated with a smile. "Soon, our Queen will also give birth. And who knows who will first get pregnant between you and Niran?"
By the sidelines, Mineah simply watched her friends banter as they all waited for Zaila to come out of the room and give them an update.
Truly, everything all seemed to be going smoothly in their lives now, and Mineah couldn’t ask for more except for being able to witness her friends and family enjoying their lives with her.
