Mineah stiffened at the prospect of being wrong. Still, she didn’t doubt her gut feelings on the current matter. "I feel like it’s going to be a girl though."

"I agree," Nikolai backed her up. "Somehow, it feels right to think of her as a girl. If so, the name Alya would suit her."

"And that’s fine, but there still needs to be a contingency with these things. I know I came up with a list of names just for the occasion during my day," Rania chuckled. "Though I do agree that it feels like I’ll be having a granddaughter from you two."

"Huh? Well, I think it could still be a boy. It’s only recently that you became pregnant, right?" Alexa asked with a soft pout.

"Just about five weeks into it, if I recall," Mineah confirmed.

"Then that’s still too early to tell the gender," Alexa smugly stated. "If so, then how about Zacharias as a name? It fits, right?"

Mineah couldn’t help but nod in approval of the name. It sounded right, and it was just as good as Alya in her ears.

"Oh? You really think it’s going to be a boy even though the couple thinks it’s a girl?" Rania playfully scoffed at Alexa. "You’re not the one currently pregnant."

"But you never know," Alexa smugly smirked. "Who knows what can happen in the next few weeks?"

Mineah couldn’t help but chuckle at the two older women starting to argue about her baby’s gender. Beside her, Nikolai simply smiled at everything that was happening, and they both simply watched as the argument unfolded.

"How about a wager then?" Rania offered. "As you said, it’s far too early to tell the baby’s gender, so how about that then?"

"I’m more than happy to oblige," Alexa scoffed. "I’m for the child being a boy."

"And I’m for my grandchild being a girl," Rania raised a brow in response. "What is the wager?"

"Something that we can discuss in the future," Alexa vaguely stated. "For now, that’s the deal."

Mineah simply blinked as the two then shook each other’s hands on it. Somehow, it felt like something historic just happened right in front of them.

[Shouldn’t we stop this?] Mineah couldn’t help but ask Nikolai through their bond.

[They’re clearly enjoying themselves,] Nikolai chuckled back. [Let’s let them have their fun.]

With that, the couple simply shrugged as the festivities continued around them, simply enjoying their time as everyone celebrated the unborn child currently growing within her. Still, one thing was certain. It was going to be an interesting next few months, that was for sure.

Time passed, and Mineah was still hard at work being an expecting mother. She could feel the life within her growing larger by the day, and her appetite grew along with it.

Of course, that meant that her figure also grew alongside the amount of food she was eating. So much so that she was actually getting a bit worried.

"I’m starting to gain some weight," she sighed as she stared at herself in the mirror. "This is kind of bad, right?"

"Nonsense," Nikolai reassured her as he hugged her from behind. "You’re still beautiful no matter what happens. To me, you’re still the only one I would ever have my eyes on."

Mineah couldn’t help but smile at his words. Even as she watched her cheeks grow fuller and her curves grow wider, Nikolai was always there to pamper her whenever she needed it. In fact, he pampered her even if she didn’t want it, and she could only pout even though deep inside, she was enjoying all of the attention he was giving her.

"I’m only going to get bigger from here, you know," she reminded him with a faint smile. "My stomach’s going to grow larger, and by the end of it, we probably won’t be able to make love in the same way we usually do."

"That just means we make love in other ways," Nikolai whispered in her ear. "There are many ways to pleasure you beyond just the usual motions, you know."

As if to emphasize his words, he then gently nibbled on her ear, his tongue snaking into her earlobes before retreating.

"Don’t tease me so early in the morning, Lai," she complained even as she let out a soft moan. "We still have work to do, you know."

"We can always do that later," Nikolai muttered into her ear. "What we do is nobody else’s concern."

"But we still have other matters to attend to," she promptly reminded him. "Namely, of how Ezekiel liberated the kingdoms Devon conquered."

It was something that had to be addressed. The newly freed kingdoms would need a lot of help getting back on their feet. And while they could help, they couldn’t help too much lest they risk being accused of being too friendly with some or even all of them.

"The other kingdoms can take care of them, to be honest," Nikolai scoffed. "If they want to play political games with the others, then we should just let them."

"But we can’t just let them get friendlier with potential allies and trade partners," Mineah reminded him. "It’s just common sense to foster good relations with growing economies and see if we can benefit from their growth as well."

Nikolai sighed as he gently let her go. Shrugging, he chuckled as he turned around and got ready for the day.

"Why are you being this responsible when you have all the reasons not to do anything?" he chuckled.

"Somebody has to keep the kingdom running, and it shouldn’t be me," she teased him. "And yet I still want to do it."

"Because it’s your responsibility?"

"Mostly because it’s fun, but that too," she giggled before giving him a soft peck on his cheek. "Just because I’m pregnant doesn’t mean life stops for everyone else, no?"

It was simply the truth of the matter. She should work harder precisely because of their coming child. They wanted the world as peaceful as possible for her, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
