Chapter 307: Any Signs of Aging
Mineah didn’t take long as she brought Dahlia to her mother. As soon as she left her, she quickly addressed the four shadow maidens who were waiting for her outside the room.
"How are you all doing?" Mineah asked as she finally got the chance to check on them to see if they were badly wounded.
"We’re all good, Milady," Dani stated. "Just some minor scratches that will heal on their own."
Mineah nodded in relief. They were all knowledgeable in healing minor wounds and cuts, but like what wizard Lurio taught them, they shouldn’t heal their bodies using spells, especially if it was something minor that their body could naturally heal.
"I’m glad you’re all safe..." Mineah smiled before letting out a sigh. "It’s been a long night. We should all rest."
"I believe none of us will rest peacefully at this point, however," Laura thoughtfully pointed out. "How about we all just have a meal over the pavilion by Corvus’s pond? We all haven’t had dinner yet, right?"
"That’s a good idea," Zaila added with a meaningful grin. "Besides, King Nikolai and the others are all currently busy tonight."
"Alright, let’s do that..."
Smiling, Mineah and her shadow maidens walked towards the pavilion built at the center of the pond, where colorful lotuses floated beautifully as they were lit by the fireflies within them. It was one of Mineah’s favorite spots, and while only monarchs were allowed to stay there, she Still let her shadow maidens enjoy the place whenever they wanted.
"Oh, it’s pretty cold. I believe having something hot to warm our bodies will be great right now," Laura suggested. "After all, this is a celebration of us having managed to succeed against Devon’s evil acts."
From there, they all got into their respective seats, and Mineah nodded in agreement as Laura then called for some of the helpers to instruct them to serve snacks and drinks to them.
"How long do you think the meeting will last?" Zaila asked Dani while they waited for their food. "Can’t you ask your husband through your bond?"
The latter simply nodded before reporting, "It’ll take some time before I can do that. Exordium Eva is present, and she’s apparently suggesting for Lady Rosa and Zoran to be punished like what the King did to Haman." She then shrugged as she added, "Obviously, it was all because the two worked with Devon as well."
Mineah let out a heavy sigh at that. She was intentionally doing her best not to interrupt her husband through the bond so that he could focus on the meeting. In addition, she was also confident that Nikolai knew how to address the situation himself. All she needed to do was wait for him to finish so that the two of them could finally cuddle in bed.
"I just hope that Dahlia and Zoran will finally get their happy ending. Goodness, their love story is already a tearjerker," Zaila scoffed. "They both deserve to be happy and be together, at least. This night should be a happy one, but why did this Devon have to mess up things tonight instead of doing so some other day?"
Those words lingered just as their drinks and meals arrived. Ignoring the discussion for now, Mineah took the time to eat since she was actually starving already.
"Ah, a proper meal. Our Queen’s royal meals sure are heavenly to the point that it’s hard not to gain weight..." Zaila snorted as they all continued eating while talking. She then grinned as she added, "You’ll all miss enjoying meals like this once you all choose to get turned into a vampire though. Imagine yourself eating nothing but blood."
Laura turned to Krisha and Dani who were currently sitting beside each other and directly asked, "Right, I’m honestly curious. Will you two get yourselves turned? Have the two of you decided already?"
"I will, but after I’ve already given birth to children," Krisha answered with a grin. "I don’t want to risk things. What if I’m not blessed enough to get pregnant once I’m already a vampire? Knowing that I might as well make sure to have babies with Taro first. Once we’ve reached an agreement on how many children we want, then I’ll let him turn me."
Laura nodded at that answer. She then looked at Dani, waiting for an answer. "Well, I haven’t decided yet honestly," Dani replied. "At this point, I still don’t know, so I’ll probably just go with the flow and see where this marriage life leads me."
"Well, you shouldn’t take too much time in deciding," Zaila snorted. "You might get gray hair and wrinkles on your face, but Chancellor Abel will always remain as handsome as he is now."
Laura and Krisha chuckled. It was then that Mineah felt her shadow maidens all looking at her for an answer. In truth, she hadn’t really thought about it.
"Right, our queen is a Nephilim," Laura remarked. "Though it was never fully verified, it was highly implied in myths that as long as their grace isn’t extracted or they aren’t killed, Nephilim can live forever."
That made Mineah smile. "I guess we’ll find out how long my siblings and I will live," she chuckled. "Either way, we’ll notice if I’ll age as time goes by."
"Right! We’ll definitely say it the moment we spot any signs of aging from you, Milady!" Zaila quickly replied which got them all laughing.
"The last time I talked about it with Niran, she wanted to become a vampire since she couldn’t picture herself getting old by Raul’s side," Laura nonchalantly informed them. "However, Raul didn’t want her to turn into a vampire..."
"Why?" Dani curiously asked while Mineah keenly listened. She was curious too. She had never discussed this kind of matter when she was with Niran.
"She said that Raul told her that living an immortal life is not always a blessing," Laura relayed. "Sometimes, it can be considered a curse to have the same routine and cycle for years. Living for a long time can be tiring too..."
"Hmm... It’s because Prince Raul has a trauma of some kind," Zaila commented.
"Tell us..." Krisha eagerly told her.
"Nah. Sorry, but I can’t. I have a strict patient-healer relationship, and I vowed not to disclose too many details about my patient unless necessary," Zaila said with a smirk. "You’re not even a part of Prince Raul’s immediate family. Our Queen is an exception, of course, so I can discuss it with her in private if she asks for it."
Krisha frowned, and Mineah chuckled as the bantering continued.
[Mine, I’ll finish this shortly,] Nikolai suddenly chimed in through their bond. [Are you sleeping already?]
[Not yet, Lai. I’m still outside having a meal with the ladies,] Mineah hummed through the bond with a blush. [I’ll wait for you... I love you, Lai.]
