Chapter 276: How to Reciprocate a Kiss
At Miran Ocean
Dani quickly sprang out of bed the moment she woke up. She swiftly prepared herself for breakfast with Zaila and Admiral Sixto. She had just finished freshening up and fixing her clothes when she felt a familiar presence making her frown.
"Damn it! Why are you always invading my privacy? There’s a door for a reason. Can’t you at least knock before entering like a normal person?!" Dani hissed as she turned around.
To her annoyance, Abel was leaning against her door, sporting his roguish smile.
*Knock *knock
Dani rolled her eyes when he knocked on her door.
"What if I was naked? Do you think it’s appropriate for you to just appear like that?" she scolded, still wearing a disgruntled expression.
Abel, however, seemed undeterred by her irritation. He casually remarked, "I’d probably linger around in my mist form and have a peak."
Closing the distance between them, he pulled her closer and added with a smirk, "Now, come on, let’s have breakfast."
Her body effortlessly floated and she realized that they were now traveling in Abel’s mist form. Soon, they arrived at a spacious balcony that overlooked the vast ocean. Their meals were readied in front of a fireplace. The location felt familiar; they were at Ebodia Port, evidenced by the fleets lined up in the distance.
Abel casually took her hand and led her to their meal which was set up like a picnic. She comfortably sat on the soft blanket by the fireplace, watching as Abel filled her plate with delicious food and handed it to her.
"You’ve made remarkable improvements in your mist form. I didn’t feel dizzy at all," she commented. She noted that the ride was no longer bumpy like before. It was so smooth that she didn’t even notice when they arrived at their destination.
"I’ve been practicing extensively. You refused to travel with me in my mist form because of how rough the ride was so I asked Queen Mother to train me further... I’m glad that you find it comfortable now. You no longer have to sail for days and can tag along with me from now on," Abel commented with a smile.
For some reason, Dani felt weird with the way Abel was staring at her. She grabbed the bread and started munching on it, then looked at him with a puzzled expression and asked, "What?!"
"What?" Abel questioned back.
"It just feels a bit strange having you watch me eat. Don’t you want to eat too?" she asked.
A mischievous grin played on Abel’s lips as he replied, "Oh, I do want to eat you..." making Dani choke on her food.
Abel quickly handed her some water which she drank in one go. She shot him an incredulous glare as she coughed, to which he simply smiled as he gently patted her back.
’What is wrong with him?’ she thought as she looked at him suspiciously. It seemed like he had become exceptionally comfortable, not holding back from anything. Did he really want to taste her blood?
"I absolutely won’t let you feed on me!" she declared firmly, even going so far as to cover her neck protectively with her hand.
Abel couldn’t help but chuckle at Dani’s reaction. He found her adorable, and her reactions only seemed to amuse him further. He leaned in slightly, his eyes sparkling with mischief, and said, "You’re so adorable, Dani. Anyway, aren’t you curious as to why I arrived early when I told you I’d probably be at your manor tomorrow night?"
Right, she had almost forgotten about it. She was so overwhelmed by Abel’s sudden arrival and distracted by his presence that it had slipped her mind. Nevertheless, she was glad he had come early.
"Why are you early?" she casually asked, while looking at the food prepared before her. She couldn’t help but smile at how thoughtful the Chancellor was. She didn’t mind him dragging her out of the blue if he prepared surprises such as this. Despite the chilly weather, she felt warm and content beside the cozy fireplace.
"I worked as fast as I could and wrapped up everything at the palace before rushing here. Our wedding is in two days, and you mentioned before that you’d like to explore more of Ebodia since you missed so many places here. After the wedding ceremony, we’ll have to head back to Valcrez. So today, I’ll be your ride and take you wherever you want to go," Abel explained with a wide smile.
Dani found herself staring at Abel, captivated by his manly and handsome face. While Some might have found him scary and intimidating, Dani found his aura incredibly attractive. Even his striking red eyes were seductive in her eyes.
She had been drawn to him from the moment she had first laid eyes on him, a secret attraction she had kept hidden from everyone. That was probably why she was so disappointed when she had accidentally seen him with Rosela that night. After that, she couldn’t help but meddle in his affairs.
"I think I’ll melt soon if you continue gawking at me, Dani. Please wipe your drool," Abel teased, making her snap back to reality.
"Drool? What drool? I’m definitely not drooling!" she protested, hastily reaching for a piece of cheese to divert her attention.
"So, tell me where would you like to start our day from? I’ll be at your service all day and night..." Abel said, making her heart skip a beat.
Why wouldn’t it? Abel’s face was so too close to hers, that she could practically feel his warm breath on her skin. It made her feel strangely flustered, and she couldn’t help but whisper, "Back away... You’re too close, and I can’t breathe, Abel."
Abel didn’t move an inch, his eyes locked onto Dani’s. Dani’s lips parted and his gaze dropped to them. In a bold move, he closed the distance between them, pressing his lips firmly against hers. Dani’s eyes widened in surprise.
’Why was he kissing me? I didn’t look down at him, right?’ she wondered, recalling Abel’s warning about kissing her as punishment if she ever looked down on him, similar to what had happened during their discussion about Dahlia.
It was Abel who eventually broke the kiss, pulling away. He clicked his tongue in a slightly disapproving manner and remarked, "Tsk, I should really teach you how to reciprocate a kiss, Dani. But we save that lesson later at a more appropriate place and time. The next time, I might end up doing more than just kissing," Abel muttered in his hoarse breath.
Dani found herself momentarily lost in her own thoughts, the full implication of his words not immediately registering in her mind.
