Chapter 250: Long-Distance Relationship
Krisha stirred in her bed. Groaning, she gently touched her forehead.
"Ah, why do I feel so dizzy," she grumbled with her eyes closed.
"Side effects of getting marked. Get up and take this potion," Zaila replied, her voice ringing in her ears. "Niran also passed out when she got marked. Almost all humans do."
Krisha grumbled some more as she weakly nodded. Then, as if realizing what happened, she opened her eyes and jolted up from bed. She quickly touched her neck to see Taro’s mark on her. It still stung, and she gently caressed it as she bit her inner cheek.
It was true then. She had truly surrendered in the end and gave him permission to mark her.
’What happened to taking things slowly?’ she inwardly scolded herself. She couldn’t believe that she could be that weak. But then, it wasn’t like she regretted it afterward. In fact, she was even looking forward to her future with Taro.
"You were so fast that I even couldn’t believe it when Taro came looking for me and asking me to look after you," Zaila snorted with a teasing grin. "Goodness, you’re as quick as lightning. You even surpassed Dani."
Krisha’s eyes narrowed as she looked around. She could tell that she was back in her own bedchamber... She then looked at her body... only to notice that she was also now back in her own dress.
"Oh my... Why are you staring at yourself like that?" Zaila knowingly asked. "Don’t tell me you and Taro already did it?!"
Krisha’s face burned red as she looked at Zaila. She wanted badly to deny her friend, but she couldn’t find it in herself to do it.
"You did?!"
"No... We haven’t done the full deed!" she weakly defended. "Anyway, how long did I pass out? Where’s Taro?!"
"Well, it hasn’t been that long. And about Taro, are you even ready for a long-distance relationship with him? You do know that His Majesty assigned him to monitor Lady Jayra. He’s not allowing even an insect bite to land on her since her life is still connected to our Queen..." Zaila replied with a shrug.
"So in summary, Taro quickly returned to his post. He said he’ll see you as soon as he could, so I’m guessing he’s yet to coordinate this matter with His Majesty..." She then handed her a bottle and said, "Drink this..."
Scoffing, Krisha quickly drank the bottle knowing that it would help her feel better.
[Krisha, can you hear me?]
She flinched at the sudden voice inside her head.
"Taro?" she muttered.
"What about him?" Zaila chimed in. "Didn’t I tell you that he left already?"
Krisha pouted. "Shhh. Taro’s talking to me through the bond."
[It’s your first time. It’s easy to talk to me,] Taro instructed. [Just concentrate on telling me what you want to say inside your head and I will hear it.]
Ignoring Zaila’s frowning, Krisha followed what Taro said.
[Alright, can you hear me now?] she asked through the bond.
[Yes, I can hear you now, my Krisha,] Taro lovingly answered.
Krisha felt her stomach churn at what he just said to her. It was in a good way though... with him adding ’my’ to her name.
[I apologize if I had to leave in haste. I’m on my way back to Cordon, but I have to go and meet the King at an inn in Ursa along with Her Majesty,] Taro explained. [I believe Zaila had already informed our Queen about the situation, so Her Majesty wants to talk to me.]
Krisha frowned as she turned to Zaila. "You already told Her Majesty about my situation?"
Zaila gave her an awkward smile. "Yes, I did," she muttered. "I’m sorry."
Krisha’s shoulders drooped at that information. She wanted to be the one to tell their Queen about her recent situation, but then again, what did she expect from Zaila? Her dear friend would have surely already delivered the news to even Dani and the rest with the way she is. Zaila was just someone who could never contain her excitement over news like this.
"I’ll be leaving then so that you can have your privacy with your, uhm... newfound partner," Zaila said with an awkward smile before quickly escaping out of her bedchamber.
Krisha could only sigh as she watched her friend leave. At least she gave her some space after... well, everything.
[Are you worried? Don’t be, I’ll handle everything,] Taro chimed in from the back of her head. [I’ll also ask His Majesty for some days off. I mean, Lady Jayra already has good protection around her courtesy of her husband. I also see no danger coming her way since she’s mostly in the confines of their manor anyway.]
[It’s alright, Taro. I understand the situation, and there’s no need for us to be in a hurry anyway,] Krisha remarked. [We can take things slowly moving forward. You don’t need to hurry to my side. You can focus on your tasks, and I’ll do the same on my end.]
It wasn’t like they were running out of time anyway. They could just take things one step at a time and see where that would lead them.
There was silence from Taro, so Krisha asked, [Are you still there?]
Despite her question, she smiled at what she now had. She was delighted to have this telepathic means of communication because of their Coupling Bond. It was convenient to have this kind of easy communication with each other like this.
After a while, she heard a long and deep sigh coming from Taro through their bond.
[What’s wrong?] she asked.
[You sound like you don’t care whether you can see me or not,] Taro directly stated.
[What?! I didn’t mean it like that,] Krisha quickly denied. [What I’m saying is that we have important priorities to put first before we can decide on what to do with this marking thing.]
[I know what you mean. It’s just that... Am I the only one thinking of prioritizing our relationship first? I know this all came so quickl, but I want to work it out, Krisha,] Taro sincerely stated. [To be honest, I’m missing you already. I’ll be cutting the connection for now since I’m almost near my destination. I’ll talk to you later.]
Before Krisha could reply, their connection was promptly cut off. Still, Krisha unknowingly touched her reddened cheeks. Taro... Since when did he become vocally sweet like that?
She could still recall how he became so clingy with her during their vacation in Ebodia, but then she thought it was only because he enjoyed her company. She was simply making an effort to cheer him up since she felt sorry that he got rejected by Dani.
"Has he developed feelings for me since then?" she murmured.
It was a good feeling, but she was sure that their feelings for each other weren’t that deep yet. That was why she was fine with their current long-distance relationship.
