The Crown's Seduction
Chapter 230: Extract Enough Blood

Chapter 230: Extract Enough Blood

Another morning came, and Mineah immediately regretted how she teased her husband last night. Clearly, he was dead set on proving that he wasn’t weak whenever it came to pleasing her. She was sore all over, and Nikolai even instructed Zaila to heal her.

From there, she blushed even harder as Zaila constantly gave her teasing glances as she performed the healing spell on her whole body. All the while, Nikolai didn’t leave, making sure that it was only Zaila who performed the spell.

"Niran has already arrived, and this time, Raul isn’t with her," Nikolai informed her as he leaned near her and kissed her lips. "I won’t be with you during your visit to Rusan, but I’ll be following you shortly as soon as I’m finished with my pending work. Eat with your handmaidens before leaving."

Nikolai then left, leaving Mineah alone with Zaila as they continued with their treatment. A beat passed in silence as they continued with their work, Zaila occasionally giving her a teasing look which made Mineah uncomfortable. "Stop that, Zaila."

"I’m sorry, Milady. I just couldn’t help it," Zaila apologized. "His Majesty is just too sweet and thoughtful."

"I can heal myself perfectly fine," Mineah grumbled. "It’s not like my inner energy was depleted during our-"

She stopped herself just before she could reveal things any further. It made her blush grow redder, but there was no taking back what was supposed to be said there anyway.

"Well, that’s why I’m here as your personal royal healer, Milady. Please allow me to be of help to you like this," Zaila chuckled. "You’re also lacking in sleep, and you still have to perform your duties out in the field. The King’s reasoning is valid knowingly all that. You shouldn’t perform spells on your own to conserve energy."

"He’s the one responsible for why I’m all sore and drained anyway," Mineah snorted, making Zaila chuckle. It was a nice sight to see. She missed having unrestrained banter like this with her shadow maidens.

"You can’t blame him, Milady," Zaila pointed out with a laugh. "You two have to make a baby, after all."

Mineah no longer debated with her nosy shadow maiden as she did her best to fan her blush down. Instead, she changed the topic entirely.

"Ask a servant to call for Niran and the rest," Mineah instructed. "Let’s all eat together at the dining hall."

With a nod, Zaila quickly followed and instructed a servant to stand outside. Meanwhile, Mineah turned to look at her reflection in the mirror, making sure that there were no visible hickeys on her bare skin before standing up to get ready. Nikolai loved nibbling on her skin and leaving love bites as he called them. Thankfully, Zaila removed them as well using her spells.

"Let’s go, Zaila," Mineah stated as she walked towards the door.

Making her way to the dining hall, Mineah walked with purpose as she and Zaila walked the halls. Once they arrived, she noted how her Shadow Maidens were already seated inside. Understandably, they all stood up from their seats and greeted her with a curt bow.

"Please be all seated," Mineah remarked as she took her chair. "Only Laura is missing, but she’ll be with us soon," she gleefully hummed. "For now, let’s eat since I still have to visit the province of Rusan."

From there, they began eating. As they would always do, they engaged in a few conversations while they were having breakfast.

"How are the preparations going for your union with the Chancellor?" Mineah asked as she looked at Dani.

"It’s doing well, Milady," Dani answered with a wide smile.

Mineah hummed in approval. She was glad that Dani was able to marry the man she liked. She had read Dani’s thoughts and found out how she was so interested in the Chancellor. Her shadow maiden was already in love with Abel. Mineah could tell that much.

"Oh, have you heard, milady? Dani will dance during her Coupling Rites!" Zaila excitedly burst out.

Dani blushed hard at being reminded of such a thing. It would seem that she just couldn’t escape it.

"We haven’t seen you dance though," Krisha excitedly seconded. "It’s a good thing then that we’ll be able to see you do it now!"

"I’ll assist you if you ever need help, Dani," Niran offered, seeing as she was the superb dancer in their group. "If you want, I can teach the steps to you."

’But Abel said he’ll assist me. I... I want to spend more time with him.’

Mineah smiled upon reading Dani’s thoughts. "Hmm... I’m sure the Queen Mother and Abel himself will handle this matter," she promptly interrupted with a knowing hum. "Besides, I’ll be needing more of your time in the coming days, Niran. Dani will be very busy these next few days, so I’m afraid you’ll be stuck with me for now."

"Oh, alright then, milady," Niran commented with a bright smile. "It would be my honor to be of assistance."

Mineah raised an eyebrow as she took note of how Niran looked more cheerful now than before. Curious, she directly asked, "How is everything between you and Raul?"

Niran’s face suddenly reddened, and Mineah immediately stopped reading her thoughts the moment it became inappropriate. Then again, that was her fault for constantly invading other people’s privacy. She should just relax and not do that one of these days. She even felt a lump in her throat as she grabbed her glass and drank her water just to avoid thinking about what she saw.

"Please don’t worry too much about me, Milady," Niran timidly reassured her. "Like I said, I can manage my relationship with Raul well enough."

Mineah simply nodded. Well, it looked like Niran was indeed managing things well on her end.

"Still, I have this concern, Milady," Niran began as she suddenly started talking in their secret language.

"What is it?" Mineah asked.

"Raul is still unusually going out whenever he receives some black parchment like before," Niran reported. "I’m worried. I know you told me to stop spying and reporting things to you, but it’s just that I don’t want him to be in danger or to do something that’s against the crown."

Smiling, Mineah gave Niran a soft glance as she reassured her. "Don’t worry, Nikolai’s already looking into it, and he promised that he’ll monitor Raul closely," she informed her. "I’ll be asking him about this later as well."

"Thank you. It’s just that Raul is a good man, but he has his own inner demons, Milady," Niran gratefully stated. "His past keeps on haunting him, and it’s also the reason why he’s obsessing over the crown. I... I want to save him..."

"It’s not too late, Niran. Help him find the right path for him," Mineah encouraged. "I’m sure you’ll have enough influence over him to do so. He seems to have genuine feelings towards you."

She said this, but In her head, she still told herself to remember to ask Nikolai about this matter with Raul.

"Thank you, Milady," Niran gratefully nodded once more. "I’ll do my best."

Mineah nodded in agreement. She then looked at Krisha and Zaila and stated, "Prepare to extract enough blood from me after this. It’s a full moon later, it would seem. Hand it over to Marlo afterward."

The two nodded, and Mineah let out a small sigh as she looked to the future ahead of them. There were still so many things that needed to be addressed, but for now, she had to focus on the coming full moon later.
