Chapter 227: Prophecy
Chapter 227: Prophecy
At her question, Nikolai squinted, and Mineah couldn’t help but narrow her eyes at him as she waited for his reply.
"What?"
"How come you only asked me about it now?" Nikolai asked back.
Mineah couldn’t help as an awkward smile formed on her lips when she explained, "I... kind of felt bad asking you this question knowing that I was keeping things away from you back then."
"I’m surprised you didn’t react negatively to this then," Nikolai reiterated, his eyes intently looking deep into hers. "You could’ve thought that I’m simply keeping this marriage with you because of the prophecy."
"Hmm... It didn’t matter at the time," Mineah pouted. "Remember how I was dead set on making you fall for me? I was too focused on that goal for me to be swayed by Rosela’s negative thoughts."
He didn’t reply immediately. Instead, to her surprise, Nikolai suddenly kissed her lips. "I’m glad then," he smiled. "And congratulations because you succeeded in your goal with flying colors."
Mineah’s face turned red at the teasing, her cheeks blushing as she consciously looked around. She felt shy while they were out in the open like this, but Nikolai didn’t seem to care.
"Where’s the Prophecy about me then?" she quickly asked as she changed the topic, her eyes focused on the book. "It’s here, right?"
Nikolai chuckled, but he didn’t say anything as he started flipping on the pages. "Here," he pointed out as he stopped on a particular page. "This prophecy was dated the day when I was born."
Mineah quickly peeked and read the so-called prophecy. "A male harboring the Mark of Eternity must unite with someone that bears the bloodline of royalty born from a union that caused the sky to cry blood."
"That union happened in Ebodia during King Stephan’s marriage to Queen Dana," Nikolai answered.
"That’s true," Mineah remarked in agreement. "It can also be my sister Xenia or the next generation ahead of us though."
While she said that, she really hoped that it would be her.
"It’s you," Nikolai whispered as he pulled her in for an embrace. "Only you for me..."
Mineah let out a dreamy sigh as she let herself succumb to his embrace. She was practically melting because of his love for her, and she loved every single second of it.
"I hope you’re right, Lai," she murmured. "Also, it’s written here that we really should produce an heir."
"I’ll be working hard on that then, Mine," he chuckled. "Come now, and let’s talk to Aunt Alexa and Cian. After that, we can continue making babies."
"Stop that. We still have a lot of things to do," Mineah whined at his teasing as she gently pushed him away. "You still have to go somewhere, and I must continue with my duties as well. My visitation to all the parts of Valcrez had already been delayed for far too long.."
Retreating, Nikolai smiled as he then led her to a private room where Alexa and Cian were already waiting. Entering the room, they both sat opposite the two as they settled in.
"Now, what we’re about to tell you is very confidential, so no one outside this room should know about this," Nikolai started.
From there, Mineah simply watched as Aunt Alexa and Cian closely listened to Nikolai talking. Meanwhile, she focused on reading their minds so that she could decide whether or not she would let them help her in searching for more details and possible answers to her curse.
’I’m not surprised at all. Fallen angels are bound to bear cursed children like how Azarel bore Devon. I just hope this fact about our Queen won’t come out in public.’
Mineah frowned as she read Cian’s thoughts. He was aware of things, but he kept his mouth shut about it. ’Devon of Helion Kingdom is also cursed?’
"Do you have an idea about my curse, Lord Cian?" she directly asked. "Nikolai told me that you’re very knowledgeable since you’ve read almost every kind of book. You should be very familiar with ancient histories up to the present."
"Hmm... There is actually a book that contains everything about the fallen angels," Cian pointed out. "This book was written by the first fallen angel here on earth which was then translated through the ages. It was mentioned there that any children of any fallen angel were bound to have a curse. It was heaven’s punishment, and some might even get one or more curses of different kinds."
"What is that book, Cian," Nikolai inquired with a frown. "Where is it?"
"It’s still in the kingdom of Helion the last time I heard..." Cian replied. "You see... Devon took everything of value from each kingdom like the Ancient Book of Dragons from the Kingdom of Zion. As you’d expect, he took the Chronicles of Fallen Angels from the Kingdom of Bethel."
"We need to hurry and find this book then. We need to find ways to break this curse," Aunt Alexa said in determination. "From now on, I’ll assist you with everything. Starting today, I’ll look into every document inside this library with Cian so that we can find out more about this curse."
Mineah’s lips curled up at that declaration. Aunt Alexa was such a good person, and in her thoughts, all she could read was Alexa’s concern for her and Nikolai and how she wanted the two of them to stay strong and happy together.
"Thank you so much, Aunt Alexa..." Mineah couldn’t help but state as she felt herself getting teary-eyed with how genuine Aunt Alexa was to her.
"Please don’t worry, dear. I’m sure that there’s an answer to it all," Alexa reassured her. "We can also rely on Cian here. This boy is the best when it comes t-"
"I’m not a boy!" Cian retorted.
Alexa chuckled. "Alright... this man... Happy?"
Cian shrugged as he pressed his lips. Mineah then turned to him, and Cian quickly composed himself. "Don’t worry, Your Majesty. I’ll definitely do everything I can to help you out," he stated. "I shall inform you as soon as I find anything that could be of use."
’I believe in the prophecy. The Ward Family of Ebodia is chosen to bring prosperity to our kingdom, and our King chose you to be his Queen. My loyalty lies with the king and the Queen he chose...’
Mineah raised an eyebrow at what she just read. It would seem that Cian was just as loyal as Aunt Alexa.
[Tell me, Mine. What do you think?] Nikolai asked through their bond.
[Let’s do as you suggested, Lai,] she replied. [They’re both genuine in their offer to help.]
"We’ll put our trust in the two of you in handling the research here in our own library then," Nikolai gratefully stated. "If you find out anything that seems to have a connection or if you have anything that you believe to be important, then please inform me or Mine directly."
Mineah smiled as their two new confidants nodded. She felt happy that she could rely on others like Nikolai suggested. Despite how cursed she was, the heavens didn’t completely abandon her by giving her special abilities, especially the ability to read minds so that she could know whom to trust. She turned to Nikolai with her eyes beaming with love. She really was so fortunate to be with someone like him in her lifetime.
